Abstract

Abstract: The application of the CEFR in teaching Arabic, especially in non-Arab countries such as Indonesia, remains very limited. This study aims to analyze the compatibility of language proficiency descriptors in the Language Skills course curriculum of the arabic language education department at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta with the international CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) standards. This research is a literature study to analyze curriculum documents by comparing the competencies and scope of material in the Arabic language skills curriculum in the Arabic language education department at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta with the CEFR proficiency level (A1–C2). The results show that the language skills descriptors reflect efforts to develop the four language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—in various contexts, whether in everyday life, professional, or academic. However, most of the competency achievements remain within the range of levels A2 to C1 and have not fully demonstrated the integration between skills as outlined in the CEFR. This study also highlights the importance of adapting the CEFR in Arabic language learning, while maintaining consideration for the social context, culture, national education policy, learner needs, and typical characteristics of the Arabic language. In addition, the integration of intercultural communication competencies in the implementation of the CEFR is key for Arabic language learning to effectively deal with the dynamics of a multilingual and multicultural society.

Abstract

Abstract:    This study aims to (1) examine the implementation of Nahwu material using the Rosam Albayani method with mind mapping to improve reading skills at Majelis Taklim Alkalaam, (2) analyze its impact on learners’ understanding of Arabic grammar, and (3) identify the characteristics of the developed textbook suitable for non-formal learning contexts. The research applied the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The process began with a needs analysis of learners from diverse educational backgrounds. Learning materials were designed based on visual mind mapping, validated by experts, and implemented in practice. Instrument testing showed validity, with all items exceeding the r-table value (0.396) at a significance level < 0.05. Reliability analysis produced Cronbach’s Alpha scores of 0.722 (pre-test) and 0.874 (post-test), confirming consistency. Normality tests using Shapiro-Wilk indicated data distribution was normal (pre-test 0.445; post-test 0.221). A paired t-test revealed a significant improvement, with average scores rising from 26.00 to 54.40 (p = 0.000 < 0.05). The findings demonstrate that the Rosam Albayani Nahwu textbook is effective, adaptive, and engaging for learners in non-formal settings, providing an innovative solution for strengthening Arabic grammar comprehension.

Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses the application of translation ideology in translating Arabic food recipes uploaded by the Instagram account @maisinthekitchen into Indonesian. Recipe texts are rich in cultural elements, requiring translators to adopt an appropriate approach to maintain a balance between the authenticity of the source culture and the readability in the target culture. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach by applying a combined ideology, namely foreignization and domestication. The data consist of Arabic recipes taken from @maisinthekitchen’s Instagram posts between January and December 2024. The results show that out of 144 data points, 62 (43%) apply the foreignization ideology, while 82 (57%) apply the domestication ideology. This shows that domestication tends to be used more to ensure readability and ease of understanding for the target readers, whereas foreignization is applied selectively to preserve the authenticity of Arabic culinary terms, allowing readers to still gain original cultural insights from the recipe. This study is expected to enrich the field of translation studies, particularly in the context of culinary texts, and provide practical contributions for translators and enthusiasts of Arabic cuisine.   Abstrak:  Penelitian ini membahas penerapan ideologi penerjemahan dalam menerjemahkan resep masakan Arab yang diunggah oleh akun Instagram @maisinthekitchen ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Abstract

The name does not have the connotation of a particular language meaning, except to indicate what it is named after. Thus the name does not need to be translated into another language. In fact, when translated it will be prone to misunderstandings about what is meant. In the case of the translation of IAIN Kediri into Arabic carried out by the academic community of the Arabic language education study program, more than one variety of translations emerged, namely: 1) الجامعة الإسلامية الحكومية كديري dan 2) جامعة كديريالإسلامية الحكومية . This is due to differences in the techniques used to translate them. This inconsistency certainly resulted in the emergence of the allegation that the campus in question was different. This study uses a qualitative method by taking data from several student writings contained in thesis documents, papers, journal articles and books published by IAIN Kediri, web pages, and others and trying to find the most popular variety of translations. The findings of the analysis conclude that the technique of determining the equivalent of words in the two translations is exactly the same, namely using the generalization technique on the word institute, the reduction technique in the translation of Islamic religious words, the literal technique on the word Negeri and the borrowing technique which is naturalized on the word Kediri. Syntactic analysis concludes that there is a grammatical gap in the first translation model due to the use of a literal method that is oriented to the source text. While in the second translation model there is no grammatical gap, because the translation uses transmutation techniques so that the translation results have a pattern that is known in the target language.

Abstract

The aims of this research are: to know the similarities and differences of uslub al-majhûl in Arabic and uslub passive voice in English, by using a contrastive study analysis. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative, the theory used in analyzing the data is Miles and Huberman's theory, namely collecting data, selecting relevant data, presenting data, and concluding. The results of this study are: there are similarities and differences between the two uslubs. The equation is uslub al-majhul is a verb whose subject is discarded and replaced by nâib al-fâ'il, its purpose is to summarize the sentence, the subject is known, the subject is unknown, the subject is afraid, the subject is belittled and the subject is glorified. Uslub passive voice is a verb whose subject is not stated because it is unknown, or because it is vague, or because it is not obligatory to appear in a sentence. Both uslub uses transitive verbs. The difference is that Arabic has many analogies (wazan) to form the verb majhûl, whereas English has only two ways of forming past participles, namely by adding the word "ed" to the root verb and with an indefinite pattern called irregular verbs. In the al-majhûl uslub there is a nâib al-fail that does not have a passive uslub voice. In the uslub of passive voice, it is found that there are modal that are not included in the uslub al-majhûl. Arabic has ismiyah and fi'liah sentences while English only has ismiyah sentences.
