Abstract

Technological advances have brought about significant changes and influences in all aspects of human life, including in matters of etiquette. This comprehensive study interprets the concept of etiquette education in Surah al-Kahf and its relevance to Islamic education in the Society 5.0 era. This study was library research using a thematic surah approach. Primary data sources included the Quran and Hadith, tafsir books, and journal articles, while secondary sources were taken from other relevant books. Data analysis used content analysis and comparative analysis, with validity checked using triangulation techniques. The research findings showed that first, etiquette must be possessed by learners, namely educators, students, and simultaneously (educators and students. For students: 1) making maximum effort in seeking knowledge, 2) needing rest time during the process of seeking knowledge, and 3) speaking politely to teachers. For educators: answering students' questions politely. For both educators and students: 1) having an agreement in the educational process, 2) having a strong commitment to the agreement, and 3) having a separation. Second, no matter how advanced technology is today, the educational process must prioritize etiquette because etiquette can shape an education that is a blessing for all creation, and the realization of the perfect human being.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the understanding and implementation of religious moderation in maintaining harmony among diverse groups and strengthening national unity and integrity in a multi-ethnic society, with a focus on the regions of East Nusa Tenggara and Bali. This research employed descriptive qualitative methods, collecting data through observation, documentation, and interviews. Data triangulation techniques were then used to analyse the data systematically.  Additionally, during data analysis, the author used the VosViewer application to track previous research related to the discussed themes. The results showed that the people of East Nusa Tenggara and Bali generally had a good understanding of religious moderation. Various efforts and strategies to promote religious moderation had been implemented, yielding positive results that needed to be sustained, especially in the context of multiethnic societies. However, intolerant attitudes were still found in some areas, especially towards Muslims who are in a minority position in Kupang and some places in Bali. This finding confirms the importance of strengthening multiculturalism-based religious moderation programmes to build social harmony amid the nation's plurality.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the use of hermeneutics in the interpretation of the Qur'an and consider how it can help in understanding and deepening the message contained in the Qur'an. This study used a qualitative approach with an evaluative analysis of Schleiermacher's work, 'Hermeneutics and Criticism.' This study offered a new contribution by systematically applying two main approaches, namely grammatical and psychological hermeneutics, in the context of the interpretation of the Qur'an. This research also integrated classical and contemporary interpretations to test the extent to which the power of hermeneutics could be used in understanding Islamic sacred texts. The results of the study showed that Schleiermacher's hermeneutic approach is able to make a significant contribution to broadening readers' understanding of the Qur'anic text comprehensively. Thus, the application of Schleiermacher's hermeneutics in the interpretation of the Qur'an has the potential to bridge the gap between the authority of the text and the modern experience of the reader, as well as open up opportunities for the development of an integrative and contextual interpretive framework. Therefore, this research is important as an exploratory effort in developing a deeper understanding of Islamic scriptures through the lens of philosophical hermeneutics.

Abstract

The practice of including halal labels without official certification is still common, which has the potential to mislead consumers. This study aims to analyze the practice of including illegal halal labels by MSMEs and examines the form of legal protection for affected consumers. The uniqueness of this study lies in the focus of the survey of MSMEs in local public spaces and consumer responses to illegal labeling. The method was qualitative field research, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used an interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results of the study showed that many MSMEs include halal labels illegally, and consumer responses vary between supporting and rejecting. Legal protection for consumers is regulated in Law No. 8 of 1999, Law No. 33 of 2014, and PP No. 42 of 2024, with administrative sanctions for business actors who violate. The theoretical implication of this study lies in its contribution to the discourse on legal awareness and informal regulatory practices, while practically it provides targeted insights for local authorities to improve enforcement in MSME-dominated public areas; the primary distinction of this paper is its localized focus on consumer protection in grassroots halal governance.

Abstract

This research is designed to demonstrate (1) how critical discourse analysis in Al Jazeera Arabic media about the appointment of Yahya Sinwar as the new leader of Hamas (specifically on August 7-9, 2024) and (2) how Al Jazeera Arabic constructs discourse with indications of favoritism to one of the parties between Palestine and Israel. To collect and analyze the research data, researchers used descriptive qualitative methodology as a scientific research procedure. The collected data is classified into three data, namely primary data, secondary data, and supporting data. Furthermore, in analyzing the data, researchers applied Teun A. Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis (CDA) as a linguistic theory to understand and study the discourse in the news of Yahya Sinwar's appointment in Al Jazeera Arabic media. The results showed (1) the existence of a microstructure of semantic points that includes aspects of setting, details, intent, and presupposition and (2) the news writer has a clear tendency to favor Hamas, as reflected in the choice of words and sentence construction used in the news. Abstract

The recognition of religion and Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) for the Mentawai people is urgent in safeguarding their human rights to practice their faith. One of the key advocates for religious rights is the Mentawai youth. This article focuses on the reorientation of Mentawai youth in advocating for the recognition and FoRB of the Arat Sabulungan local religion, an indigenous belief system of the Mentawai Tribe in Indonesia. The rights of followers of Arat Sabulungan, particularly religious recognition, FoRB, and the inclusion of religion in identity documents, have been subject to discrimination and prohibition in the Mentawai community to this day. This study identifies several motivations and orientations among the youth advocating for religious freedom and belief, including the preservation of Mentawai culture, the pursuit of religious freedom, and the general recognition of the rights of the Mentawai people.

Abstract

Abstract This study investigates the implementation of religious moderation as a core strategy for character education at SDI Al-Fattah Payolebar, addressing growing concerns about declining students’ discipline and moral values. Grounded in Thomas Lickona’s theory of character education, this research offers a novel perspective by integrating daily spiritual routines, such as congregational prayers, Qur’anic recitation, and dhikr, with active teacher supervision and family involvement. Employing a qualitative-descriptive method with a case study design, and thematic analysis, data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that structured religious practices, when consistently reinforced by teachers and supported within the family environment, contribute significantly to the development of key moral traits, including religiosity, empathy, responsibility, and self-discipline. However, several challenges persist, particularly parental disengagement and inconsistencies in students’ behavioral internalization of these values. Theoretically, this study contributes to the discourse on moral education within Islamic educational. Practically, It offers a contextual model that may be adapted by similar educational institutions. the study concludes that collaboratively implemented religious habituation constitutes an effective approach to fostering holistic character development among students.

Abstract

Abstract This study examines how Sufi thought and practice contributed to the emergence of a pluralistic social order in medieval India. The Indian subcontinent has long been recognized for its rich cultural variety and religious differences. Sufism in the Indian subcontinent evolved as a powerful moral and spiritual movement that transcended sectarian and cultural boundaries. The primary objective of the research is to explore the ways in which Sufi teachings on love, service, and universal brotherhood functioned as a spiritual response to religious and cultural diversity. Methodologically, the study adopts a historical-analytical approach, drawing upon the writings of early Chishti Sufis, archival records, and the interpretations of modern scholars such as Khaliq Ahmad Nizami. Through a close reading of Sufi texts and a contextual analysis of their socio-religious milieu, the paper identifies how the khanqah system fostered social inclusivity and intercommunal harmony. The findings reveal that Sufi spirituality provided an ethical and emotional framework that enabled diverse communities to coexist without erasing their distinct identities. Ultimately, the paper argues that Sufism’s pluralistic ethos remains a vital model for addressing contemporary challenges of intolerance and fragmentation in multicultural societies.

Abstract

Abstract Interfaith marriage in Indonesia remains a deeply contested issue within legal and religious perspectives, particularly following the enactment of Law Number 1 of 1974 and the Supreme Court Circular Letter Number 2 of 2023, both of which reinforce prohibitive norms and impose stricter administrative procedures. In contrast to these state-centered regulations, the Tengger indigenous community on the slopes of Mount Bromo treats interfaith marriage as a legitimate tradition aimed at sustaining social harmony. While existing studies have predominantly focused on normative legal debates and theological controversies, limited attention has been paid to local cultural practices that offer alternative, lived models of coexistence. This gap is crucial because indigenous experiences provide socio-legal insights that are often overlooked in state-centered analyses. Addressing this gap, this article explores how interfaith marriage is understood and practiced within Tengger customary law, examines its implications for Indonesia’s national family law framework, and analyzes the idea of the “miniature Pancasila family” as an expression of legal pluralism at the community level. Drawing on qualitative socio-legal research conducted in Ngadas, Wonokerto, and Ngadisari, the findings show that communal harmony is preserved through the waralaga custom and the philosophical principle of rukun, alongside pragmatic administrative strategies, such as “temporary conversion”, employed to meet state requirements. These insights suggest that Indonesia’s family law could benefit from more contextual and pluralistic approaches that resonate more closely with Pancasila’s foundational values.
