Abstract

Fish is a source of animal protein and has essential amino acids that the body really needs. One of the fish producing areas in Mataram City is Ampenan. The type of fish most often caught by fishermen is tuna. Fishermen in Ampenan generally only sell fresh and simply processed fish. To increase the economic value of fish, it is necessary to provide training on appropriate technology for fish processing. Several fish derivative products are prepared simply, such as meatballs and nuggets. Meatballs and nuggets are derivative products that people really like. Diversification of fish products aims to increase economic value, increase nutritional value, improve quality and extend the shelf life of fish. This training activity was carried out in Bintaro Ampenan Village involving two groups of fishermen. Based on the activity evaluation, there were many benefits for the training participants and further training was needed to develop fish into other products.

Abstract

Real Work Lectures (KKN) is a student service program at the University of Mataram which aims to empower village communities. One of the KKN locations is Loyok Village, Sikur District, East Lombok Regency, which is known as a center for bamboo woven crafts. Since 1990, Loyok Village has exported woven bamboo products to various regions and abroad. However, after the 2002 Bali Bombing tragedy, the selling value of the product decreased, causing a decline in the interest of the younger generation in continuing this craft. Many craftsmen have changed professions due to low income. The main challenge is to restore the glory of Loyok Village as a tourist village based on woven bamboo. Through the KKN program, students strive to revitalize the village's potential with guidance, product innovation and marketing strategies to increase the competitiveness and desirability of the bamboo woven industry as a distinctive identity of Loyok Village.

Abstract

The Indonesian Amateur Radio Organization (ORARI) plays a crucial role in emergency communication and the development of amateur radio technology. However, a lack of attention to ergonomics in radio station design can lead to health issues and decreased operator efficiency. This study highlights the application of ergonomic principles in amateur radio stations to improve the comfort and efficiency of ORARI operators. Through a participatory approach, observations, questionnaires, and training were conducted on ergonomic sitting posture, optimal equipment arrangement, appropriate lighting, and workplace environmental factors. Evaluation results indicate that ergonomic implementation reduced back pain complaints by 33%, neck strain by 35%, and eye fatigue by 32%. Additionally, operator efficiency increased by up to 25% after ergonomic adjustments. Workstation modifications, including the selection of ergonomic chairs, optimal equipment placement, and proper lighting, contributed to enhanced comfort and productivity. This study confirms that applying ergonomic principles not only benefits the physical health of operators but also improves job satisfaction and communication effectiveness. These recommendations are expected to serve as a reference for ORARI in creating a healthier and more efficient working environment for its members.

Abstract

Continuously variable transmission (CVT) technology is currently something that is very commonly used in motorcycles for various reasons of practicality in use. This encourages the importance of CVT technology literacy in motorcycles to emerge in this context, because the CVT system has characteristics that inherently support fuel efficiency. CVT allows riders to enjoy smooth transmission ratio changes without the need for manual gear shifting. This is an advantage especially in urban traffic situations that often involve stop-and-go patterns, where the CVT system can keep the engine operating at an efficient speed. However, in order for the benefits of CVT to be felt to the maximum, riders need to understand how this technology works. CVT technology literacy includes knowledge of how to use the CVT system optimally, avoiding riding styles that can put excessive stress on the transmission, and understanding the maintenance needed to maintain CVT performance. Riders who are educated in CVT technology will apply fuel-efficient riding techniques, such as avoiding sudden acceleration or unnecessary braking, which will not only increase fuel efficiency but also extend the life of the CVT. In addition, regular maintenance, such as checking and replacing the CVT belt according to schedule, can prevent premature damage and ensure that the motorcycle continues to operate at its best performance. With adequate literacy, riders can not only save fuel and operational costs, but also support environmental sustainability by reducing emissions. Therefore, increasing public understanding of CVT technology is a strategic step to create more technologically aware and responsible motorcycle users.

Abstract

North Pijot Village, East Lombok has a problem with utilizing the organic waste, especially goat manure that has not been optimally utilized and has the potential to pollute the environment. The village community empowerment activity from the University of Mataram aims to overcome this problem by educating the community about the use of organic waste as a material for making compost. The activity methods include identifying problems, socialization and counseling, monitoring, filtering, harvesting/packaging. The results of the activity show that the North Pijot Village community has a better understanding of organic waste management and is able to spread composting techniques independently. This program not only contributes to reducing environmental pollution but also increases soil fertility and agricultural productivity. The sustainability of this program is expected to improve community welfare through more effective utilization of local resources.

Abstract

This community engagement initiative addresses nutritional challenges among elderly residents at the Laweyan Home for the Elderly in Surakarta by developing a Decision Support System (DSS) utilizing the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. The DSS was designed to assist caregivers in making informed meal selections based on individualized health profiles, including demographic data, medical conditions, and allergy history. Implemented as a web-based application, the system enables users to input resident data and receive prioritized dietary recommendations aligned with established nutritional criteria. The SAW algorithm processes multi-criteria input to rank food alternatives effectively. Empirical validation using real-world data demonstrated the system's capacity to generate accurate, personalized suggestions that support improved nutritional outcomes. Additionally, caregiver training and participatory implementation ensured practical usability and sustainability. This project highlights the potential of integrating algorithmic decision-making with community-based care to enhance the quality of elderly nutrition management in institutional settings.

Abstract

The phenomenon of plastic waste pollution has become a serious problem both globally and nationally, including in Bagik Manis Village, East Lombok Regency. Low public awareness of waste management has prompted students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN PMD) at Mataram University to implement an environmental education program that utilizes plastic waste to make eco-bricks. This study employed survey, interview, observation, and direct practice methods, including waste sorting, outreach, and eco-brick production. The results show an increase in public awareness of waste management, as evidenced by the increase in the number of residents using the village waste collection service from around 50 people to 80-90 people, as well as the involvement of 10 people in the practice of making eco-bricks, which were turned into benches and cushions. This program not only has an impact on reducing the volume of plastic waste, but also opens up economic opportunities through environmentally friendly products.
