Abstract

There are three objectives of this research. First, it describes what forms of expressive speech acts are used by Indonesian language teachers in the process of learning official letters and personal letters in class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Suliki, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. Second, it describes the Indonesian teacher's speaking strategies in the process of learning official letters and personal letters in class VII of Suliki 2 Public Middle School, Fifty City District. This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The data in this study were sentences in the form and expressive speech act strategies of the Indonesian language teacher for grade VII SMP Negeri 2 Suliki, Fifty Cities Regency, in the learning process. The data source for this research is all the utterances of one Indonesian language teacher during the teaching and learning process from the beginning to the end of the lesson. The results of this study are twofold. First, there are five forms of expressive speech acts for teachers in learning official letters and personal letters in class VII SMP Negeri 2 Suliki, Fifty Cities District, (1) expressive speech acts of praising, (2) expressive speech acts of saying thank you, (3) expressive speech acts expressive speech act of criticizing, (4) expressive speech act of blaming, and (5) expressive speech act of apologizing. Second, the teacher's speaking strategy in learning official letters and personal letters in class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Suliki, Fifty Cities Regency, there are four, (1) a strategy of speaking frankly without preamble, (2) a strategy of speaking frankly with positive politeness, (3) the strategy of speaking frankly with negative politeness, and (4) the strategy of speaking vaguely.

Abstract

The purpose of character value education is to increase self-empowerment and build better character through learning methods. In addition, this study aims to discuss the values of character education contained in Ananda Putri's Novel A+. The researcher will discuss the novel's intrinsic value, the psychological state of the characters, and its relevance as an anthology for teaching literary appreciation in senior high schools. This study determines Novel A+ because it shows a person's efforts to achieve his goals and also has character education values. These values include educational, moral, and social values. The issues that will be discussed include: (1) The intrinsic elements as the builders of A+ novels, such as theme, plot, characters, characterization, setting, point of view, and style of language, which are included in the formulation of this research problem, (2) What are the the ethics of character education in Novel A+, and (3) What are the descriptions of the ethics of character education in Ananda Putri's Novel A+ as an anthology of teaching literary appreciation in high school?

Abstract

This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 16 Padang. The data of this study is the use of grammatical cohesion in expository text essays. The source of the data in this study was written exposition texts by class VIII students of SMP Negeri 16 Padang. Based on the results of research on the use of grammatical cohesion in exposition text essays for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 16 Padang, there is the use of grammatical cohesion, namely references, substitutions, ellipsis, and conjunctions. Based on the data analysis that has been done, the most dominant use of grammatical cohesion used in exposition texts for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 16 Padang is the use of conjunctions and the least use of grammatical cohesion found is the use of ellipsis. From the quantitative data, it can be categorized as an error in the use of grammatical cohesion in an exposition text essay for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 16 Padang, which is included in the high category.

Abstract

Educational goals will be achieved with quality learning. To improve the quality of learning requires efforts to achieve it. There are various subjects that can improve the quality of education at every level of formal education, namely mathematics. Mathematics is a subject that is related to arithmetic and concrete or abstract thinking. The purpose of this writing is to analyze the application of problem-based learning models to increase the motivation to learn mathematics in fifth grade elementary school students. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research at SD Negeri 34/I Teratai. The results obtained for the motivation of students in SDN 34/I Teratai, especially the VC class can be classified as having a low level of motivation in mathematics. This low motivation can be caused by the low motivation to study in class VC SDN 34/I Teratai. The conclusion from this research is to increase the learning motivation of students, an effort is needed, for example, by using a learning model that is appropriate to the learning material. The material for netting cubes and blocks can be done by applying the PBL learning model which is based on problems and students are asked to solve these problems with the assistance of the teacher as a facilitator.

Abstract

Students' reading comprehension skills are influenced by several factors, namely learning methods, student interest, and the media used by the teacher. There needs to be a method that can improve students' reading comprehension skills. This study aims to determine the significant effect of reading comprehension skills of exposition text at SMP Negeri 3 Batang Anai before and after the SQ4R method is applied. This research method is experimental research, with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research population was the VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Batang Anai, with the VIII grade population totaling 149, and the sample of class VII.6 with the consideration that the class was the most homogeneous because it had the lowest standard deviation, which was 12.34. The sample was drawn using purposive sampling technique. The data on reading comprehension skills of exposition texts were examined and given a score and then analyzed by t-test. The combined standard deviation of the data on reading comprehension skills of exposition texts of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Batang Anai was 71.45. The results showed that because tcount> ttable (3.74>1.67). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the reading comprehension skills of exposition texts of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Batang Anai before and after using the SQ4R method.

Abstract

Learning to read faces problems and obstacles. The teacher's role as a facilitator is to facilitate student learning as well as possible by using various strategies, methods and learning resources. The teacher's role in education is to equip students with the central point of science and technology. The purpose of this study was to determine the teacher's role in improving the reading skills of fourth grade students at SDN 106810 Sampali. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that there are several types of media used in teaching reading, but students are more interested in media images, for example pop-up books and teaching materials used in teaching reading, namely thematic books. While the efforts that teachers make in improving students' reading skills are by motivating, directing, guiding, providing reading corners, making visits to the library and giving prizes to students whose reading is already fluent and getting used to literacy activities before starting learning so that students like and are interested in reading.

Abstract

This study aims to find out more about the application of learning methods which is one of the factors for success in learning from a person. The research method used in this scientific paper is the method of content analysis and literature review. The writing results show that the jigsaw method can be applied in the learning process in the 21st century as an alternative to creating a fun learning atmosphere. The jigsaw method is basically a method that is applied so that students can have a sense of cooperation to achieve good things. There are steps that must be taken in applying the jigsaw method in order to get good and perfect results. In this method, there are advantages and disadvantages that can be used as material for consideration in the learning process.

Abstract

The Purpose of this study wa to determine the effectiveness of the chain method in impoving listening skill ini 6 th SD 010140. the subject of this research is Mrs. Widiati a grade 6 teacher at SD 010140 Perk. Gunung Melayu Kecamatan Rahuning, Kabupaten Asahan, Provinsi Sumatera Utara. In this study researchers used qualitative methods, namely research and interpretation techniques that prodused descriptive data in the form of writing and word. The result of the research that has been done show that a chain of whispering games on listening skill in Bahasa Indonesia subjects in grade 6 greatly influences the learning process, which can make students happy and enthusiastic in learning. However this method also has disadvantages of students who are not conducive to making this method applied.

Abstract

This study aims (1) to find out the reality of the use of the storytelling method in the summarizing method at MIS AL HAFZA ISLAMIC GLOBAL SCHOOL. (2) to find out the reality of students' listening skills using the summarizing method at MIS AL HAFZA ISLAMIC GLOBAL SCHOOL. (3) to find out how much influence the use of the summary method has on students' listening skills. The formulation of the research problems are (1) How is the reality of using the summarizing method at MIS AL HAFZA ISLAMIC GLOBAL SCHOOL? (2) How is the reality of students' listening skills using the summarizing method at MIS AL HAFZA ISLAMIC GLOBAL SCHOOL? (3) How much influence does the use of the summarizing method have on students' listening skills? The research method used is descriptive analysis method which is expressed by a comparison between data or facts in the field with the relevant theoretical basis. The research subjects were 23 students at MIS AL HAFZA ISLAMIC GLOBAL SCHOOL. The results showed that when the pretest in class with the summarizing method went very well and the control class used very high conventional learning.

Abstract

Indonesian language learning should involve the active role of students directly, so that students will interact using the media that has been presented by the teacher. Observations made in the field found a problem, namely students lack of focus and lack of understanding of the concept of material in Indonesian language content. The purpose of writing this journal is to analyze related efforts to improve understanding of material concepts in Indonesian content by using interactive videos in class II SDN 64/1 Muara Bulian. The type of research used is PTK (Classroom Action Research). This research was conducted at SD Negeri 34/I Teratai, in class II to be precise. The results obtained are that students are still confused when using interactive videos, and are more comfortable when the teaching process is carried out using traditional methods, namely by using a blackboard that is devoted to providing subject matter related to how to write cursive in stories by paying attention to the use of capital letters. The conclusion is that the use of interactive videos in increasing students' understanding of concepts in Indonesian language subjects with non-continuous writing material in stories with attention to the use of capital letters is effective at the elementary school level.
