Abstract

This research analyzes the equality of access to education in three ASEAN countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam. Each country faces different challenges and adopts distinct strategies to achieve equitable access to education for all its citizens. Brunei Darussalam stands out with its comprehensive free education system, well-distributed infrastructure, and strong support for inclusive education and technology. Malaysia has made progress with free education and financial assistance but still struggles with digital divides and infrastructure gaps in remote areas. Indonesia faces the greatest challenges due to its vast geography and regional disparities, despite implementing various programs such as the 12-Year Compulsory Education Program and the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP). Overall, Brunei excels in implementing more equitable education policies, while Malaysia and Indonesia still need improvements in infrastructure distribution, access to technology, and support for students with special needs.

Abstract

Goal orientation is one of the developments of learning motivation theory with a belief pattern that leads to different ways of approaching, using and responding to achievement situations. One of the factors that influences goal orientation is economic level. The role of education in several developing countries has highlighted the problem of differences in the level of achievement of learning outcomes between schools, namely differences in the socio-economic status background of students which cause large differences in social levels in schools, thus encouraging the development of schools to achieve maximum learning achievement. This study aims to determine the differences in goal orientation of students who have differences in economic levels. The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach to describe the picture of the differences in goal orientation of students. The results of the study showed that students who are at the middle economic level have a mastery goal type because there is an aspect of social support that supports students in understanding the lesson well. Meanwhile, students who have a performance goal type are at the lower economic level. This is because they get less social support due to their low economic level.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' learning outcomes on the topic of approaching puberty through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in the fourth grade at SDN 126/1 Penerokan. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. The research subjects were 30 fourth-grade students. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, learning outcome tests, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out descriptively using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results indicate that implementing the PBL model significantly enhanced students' learning activities, teacher performance, and learning outcomes. In the preliminary stage (pre-cycle), the student learning mastery level was only 40%, with an average score of 65. After applying the PBL model in Cycle I, improvements were observed, with the average score rising to 75 and the mastery level reaching 63.33%. However, challenges remained, such as students’ limited understanding of the PBL steps and minimal participation in group discussions. Adjustments were made in Cycle II, including the use of more interactive learning media, clearer teacher guidance, and increased student motivation. Consequently, the students' average score rose to 85, and the learning mastery level reached 100%. Student engagement during the learning process also improved from 70% in Cycle I to over 90% in Cycle II. Observations of teacher performance revealed that their ability to manage PBL-based learning increased from 80% in Cycle I to 95% in Cycle II. The study concludes that the Problem-Based Learning model significantly enhances students’ learning outcomes while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Based on the success achieved in both cycles, the research recommends broader implementation of the PBL model, particularly for topics requiring in-depth understanding, such as approaching puberty. This study also contributes to the development of innovative and contextual learning methods in primary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to implement the Project-Based Learning (PJBL) model to improve students' understanding of Asmaulhusna, particularly Al-Mumit and Al-Qowiyyu, in the fifth grade of SD Negeri 37/1 Bajubang during the 2023/2024 academic year. The PJBL approach was chosen to help students gain a deeper understanding of the concept of Asmaulhusna while internalizing its values in their daily lives. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology conducted in two cycles, each comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Qualitative data were collected through observations and documentation of student activities, while quantitative data were gathered through summative test results. In the pre-cycle stage, the students' average score was 65, with only 50% achieving the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) of 75. After implementing PJBL in Cycle I, the average score increased to 78, and the percentage of students meeting the KKM rose to 74.07%. In Cycle II, the average score improved further to 90, with all students (100%) meeting the KKM. The findings demonstrate that the PJBL model effectively enhances students’ learning outcomes. Beyond the improvement in scores, students also exhibited active engagement in group discussions, confidence in presentations, and creativity in completing projects such as creating posters and educational videos. The use of video media and Student Worksheets (LKPD) made the material more engaging and relevant for the students. Reflections from each cycle highlighted significant improvements in teaching implementation, particularly in group collaboration and the application of Asmaulhusna values in students’ behavior. With optimal learning outcomes achieved in Cycle II, the study was concluded after two cycles. In conclusion, the PJBL model effectively improves students’ understanding of Asmaulhusna and provides meaningful learning experiences. The study recommends the adoption of PJBL as an innovative method for Islamic Education learning, particularly at the primary school level.
