Abstract

The high consumption of iced tea beverages in the community increases potential exposure to artificial sweeteners, particularly sodium cyclamate, whose use is regulated in Regulation of the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) No. 11 of 2019. The use of cyclamate that does not comply with regulatory limits may pose health risks, thereby requiring effective monitoring through analytical laboratory methods that are accurate, precise, and validated. BPOM has established a standard method for the determination of sodium cyclamate using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC); however, in practice there are still variations in HPLC operating conditions across laboratories, such as differences in column type, mobile phase composition, and detection parameters, which may affect analytical results. Therefore, this study aimed to develop and validate an HPLC method that is compatible with specific laboratory conditions while still meeting analytical performance requirements. The results showed that a new HPLC method was successfully developed and validated for the analysis of sodium cyclamate levels in iced tea beverages. This method met all validation parameters, including linearity, precision, accuracy, limit of detection (LOD), and limit of quantitation (LOQ), and is thus suitable for determining sodium cyclamate content. The use of a methanol–water mobile phase with a 5:95 ratio proved optimal, as it provided good separation efficiency, adequate analysis time, and simplified the testing procedure. Overall, the developed method offers a practical, economical, and reliable analytical alternative to support food safety surveillance related to the use of artificial sweeteners in iced tea beverages.

Abstract

Institutional restructuring is a strategic instrument for realizing a government organization that is functionally appropriate and right-sized (rightsizing), including in Bali Province, yet its effectiveness is highly dependent on accurate and integrated personnel data management. This study aimed to analyze the role of the Organization Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of Bali Province (Biro Organisasi Sekretariat Daerah Provinsi Bali) in managing the Position Map (Peta Jabatan) within the Sistem Informasi Manajemen Kepegawaian (SIMPEG; Personnel Management Information System) as a support mechanism for institutional restructuring. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, system observations, and document studies. The findings showed that the Organization Bureau performs multidimensional roles as facilitator, mobilizer, and motivator in ensuring the validity of digitally integrated position data. The Position Map in SIMPEG functions as a single source of truth that enables regional government units to monitor staffing formations and personnel needs in real time. The main constraints include rapid changes in central regulations, disparities in understanding among work units, and technical disruptions to the server. Improvement efforts were undertaken through strengthened cross-sector coordination, regular evaluations, and the implementation of position-formation locking mechanisms to safeguard data integrity. The study concludes that the effectiveness of institutional restructuring is highly contingent upon the synchronization of legal–bureaucratic aspects with the reliability of personnel information systems, making SIMPEG-based Position Map management a critical prerequisite for strengthening the organizational design of regional government units.

Abstract

Economics education plays a strategic role in equipping students with critical, analytical, and contextual thinking skills so that they are able to respond to global economic dynamics. However, the teaching of economics in schools is still largely dominated by teacher-centered conventional learning models, resulting in suboptimal development of 21st-century skills. The development of 21st-century educational paradigms and the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka require a transformation toward innovative learning models that integrate creativity, collaboration, the use of technology, and connections with real economic phenomena. Various studies have shown that innovative learning models such as Problem Based Learning, Project Based Learning, blended learning, and gamification can enhance students’ motivation, learning outcomes, and critical and creative thinking skills, although their implementation continues to face obstacles such as limited infrastructure, low digital literacy, suboptimal teacher pedagogical readiness, time constraints, and resistance to change. This study aimed to analyze the barriers and solutions in implementing innovative learning models in Economics subjects through a literature review of empirical research and relevant studies on the implementation of innovative learning models, the challenges encountered, and strategies for overcoming them. The review findings indicate that the successful implementation of innovative learning is strongly influenced by institutional support, continuous improvement of teachers’ competencies, the effective use of learning technologies, and a flexible and contextual curriculum. In conclusion, the application of innovative learning models in Economics instruction has the potential to significantly improve the quality of learning, provided it is supported by the comprehensive readiness of the school ecosystem, with theoretical and practical implications for teachers, schools, and policymakers in developing Economics learning that is more interactive, relevant, and oriented toward 21st-century skills.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the fact that organizational structuring often becomes a contested arena between pressures to expand institutional structures and demands for bureaucratic efficiency. It aims to analyze the institutional restructuring process of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (Unit Pelaksana Teknis Daerah, UPTD) for Waste Management in Denpasar City through the lens of Richard Scott’s three-pillar institutional theory. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach, the research examines the validation process conducted by the Institutional and Job Analysis Division of the Organizational Bureau on the proposal submitted by the Dinas Lingkungan Hidup dan Kebersihan (DLHK) of Denpasar City to establish two new UPTDs. The findings show that the initial proposal, which was based on a calculated workload of 837,000 hours per year, contained regulatory inconsistencies because it incorporated upstream functions that fall under village authority as stipulated in Pergub Bali Nomor 47 Tahun 2019. Through analysis of the regulative, cultural-cognitive, and normative pillars, the study concludes that the recommended design of “one additional UPTD with repositioned functions” represents an optimal solution for safeguarding village autonomy while ensuring regional fiscal efficiency. These findings underscore the importance of workload validation as an instrument for mitigating organizational obesity within local government institutions.

Abstract

The use of visual-based digital learning media is a relevant approach to improving the quality of Informatics learning at the madrasah level; however, empirical studies that specifically examine the effect of Canva-based learning media on students’ learning outcomes in Informatics subjects at Islamic junior secondary schools (MTs) remain relatively limited. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Canva-based learning media on improving the learning outcomes of Grade VIII students at MTsN 1 Pasaman. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving 60 students selected using simple random sampling and assigned to an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected using learning outcome tests in the form of pre-tests and post-tests that had been examined for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power, and were then analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and independent samples t-tests with IBM SPSS Statistics version 27. The findings indicate a positive and significant effect of Canva-based learning media on students’ learning outcomes, as evidenced by the higher average post-test scores of the experimental class compared to the control class and the statistically significant differences based on the independent samples t-test. These results provide empirical support for the development of technology-based digital learning practices and strengthen the application of a constructivist approach in Informatics learning. The study concludes by underscoring the importance of utilizing visual–interactive learning media to enhance learning effectiveness and recommends that teachers and educational institutions integrate Canva as one of their instructional strategies. The research also opens avenues for further studies with a broader sample scope and different subject areas.

Abstract

Although Avian Influenza (AI) has been widely reported as a strategic poultry disease in Indonesia, studies that specifically document AI occurrence based on molecular detection in traditionally raised Mojosari ducks remain relatively limited, particularly in major duck-producing areas in West Sumatra. This study aimed to analyze the occurrence of Avian Influenza in Mojosari ducks in Nagari Cupak, Gunung Talang Subdistrict, Solok Regency, as a basis for strengthening poultry disease control. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 50 Mojosari ducks purposively selected from smallholder farms. Data were obtained through laboratory examination using the Influenza A quantitative reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) method and were analyzed by calculating prevalence, 95% confidence intervals using the exact binomial method, and a proportion test to assess differences in infection occurrence. The results showed that 90.0% of ducks tested positive for Avian Influenza, with an estimated prevalence of 90.0% (95% CI: 78.2–97.4%), and the difference in proportions between positive and negative ducks was significant (p < 0.001). This high level of occurrence indicates active viral circulation associated with the characteristics of the aquatic agroecosystem, low biosecurity implementation, and traditional systems of duck husbandry and movement. The findings underscore the importance of strengthening laboratory-based surveillance, enhancing biosecurity in smallholder farms, and intensifying control of poultry movement, and they provide practical implications for stakeholders in AI control based on a One Health approach, while also opening opportunities for further studies on environmental and management-related risk factors in duck production. Abstract

This study is motivated by the growing discourse on artificial intelligence (AI) ethics that has not yet been fully operationalized in practice, particularly in the health and education sectors in the era of generative AI. It aims to synthesize the literature on the operationalization of AI ethics in order to propose a new governance model that is more adaptive and context-sensitive. A structured thematic synthesis was conducted on peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2025. The analysis reveals a central paradox: a strong global consensus on the principles of justice, transparency, accountability, and privacy stands in stark contrast to significant gaps in their implementation. The emerging challenges are highly context-dependent: in the health sector, they center on technical safety and relational accountability, whereas in the education sector they are more closely related to epistemic integrity and equitable access. The advent of generative AI exacerbates these issues by introducing new systemic risks, such as large-scale hallucinations and an increasingly profound crisis of clarity. In response to the limitations of static compliance-based approaches, this study proposes the Adaptive and Layered AI Governance Model (ALAIGoM), a model of adaptive and layered AI governance that integrates operationalized ethical principles, multi-level governance structures, and a continuous ethics life cycle to enable context-sensitive, adaptive oversight. The model is grounded in proactive trust-building, human-centered design, and mechanisms that ensure acceptability. Overall, this study offers a coherent roadmap for reconfiguring AI ethics from a mere normative checklist into an embedded, adaptive, and responsive governance process.

Abstract

Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the synthesis of silica xerogel from fly ash by evaluating the effects of NaOH concentration and aging time on xerogel mass as the main response. This study aimed to develop a statistical model capable of predicting and optimizing the process conditions for the synthesis of fly ash–based silica xerogel. A Central Composite Design (CCD) with 14 runs was applied to construct a quadratic regression model and analyze the relationships among process conditions. The statistical analysis showed that the quadratic model was significant (p < 0.05), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.7515, indicating good agreement between the model predictions and the experimental data. The quadratic factors of NaOH concentration and aging time had significant effects on the response, indicating a nonlinear relationship and the presence of an optimum region, which was visualized through response surface and contour plots. Numerical optimization identified optimum conditions at an NaOH concentration of 8.5 M and an aging time of 17.89 hours, yielding a predicted xerogel mass of 0.388 g with a desirability value of 0.891. Confirmation tests demonstrated good agreement between the experimental results and model predictions, thereby confirming the effectiveness of RSM in optimizing the synthesis of silica xerogel from fly ash.

Abstract

Smartphone use has become an integral part of the lives of Generation Z, yet studies that specifically link smartphone use intensity and loneliness as predictors of nomophobia in local contexts remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the influence of smartphone use intensity and loneliness on nomophobia among Generation Z in Padang City. A quantitative survey design was employed, involving 400 Generation Z respondents aged 15–30 years selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Indonesian version of the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMPQ-10) adapted by Warsah et al. (2023), a smartphone use intensity scale developed by Oktavia (2024), and the UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 adapted by Pramitha (2018). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that smartphone use intensity and loneliness had a positive and significant effect on nomophobia (sig. = 0.000 < 0.05), indicating that higher levels of smartphone use intensity and loneliness are associated with a greater tendency toward nomophobia. These findings contribute to a better understanding of nomophobia as a psychological phenomenon shaped by the interaction between technology use behaviors and individuals’ psychological conditions and, in practical terms, underscore the importance of healthy smartphone use management and the strengthening of social interaction quality among Generation Z as efforts to prevent nomophobia.

Abstract

Although attendance management systems have been widely discussed in previous research, studies that specifically examine the implementation of web-based attendance systems using the Laravel framework in vocational high schools remain limited. This study aimed to develop an integrated online attendance system based on the Laravel framework to overcome the limitations of manual attendance methods. A quantitative approach was employed using the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) waterfall model and a Model–View–Controller (MVC) architecture. The system was designed for two types of users, namely administrators and participants, with system requirements data collected through direct observation of manual attendance processes to identify sources of inefficiency. The results indicate that the developed system was able to reduce recording errors by up to 95%, increase attendance process efficiency by 40%, and shorten recording time from an average of 12 seconds to 4 seconds per transaction. In addition, data integration across modules achieved 98% consistency with no detected inconsistencies. These findings contribute to the development of web-based information system theory and broaden understanding of Laravel framework implementation in the context of vocational education. The study concludes that adopting a Laravel-based attendance system is an important component of digital transformation in vocational high schools and recommends the implementation of integrated digital attendance solutions as a strategic step toward modernizing attendance management. The implications of this research include theoretical contributions to the literature on web-based system development and practical implications for educational institutions seeking to modernize attendance processes, while also opening opportunities for further studies on biometric integration and mobile application development.
