Abstract

This study discusses the design of a steel truss bridge on the Rongkong River, focusing primarily on flood mitigation and structural safety. Geotechnical analysis was conducted based on Standard Penetration Test (SPT) data from two drilling points, supported by laboratory testing to determine shear strength parameters, soil classification, and groundwater level conditions. The results indicate that the soil at the site is dominated by very dense gravelly sand with an NSPT value of more than 60 at a depth of approximately two meters, making it suitable for use as a support layer for well foundations or short bored piles. The hydrological characteristics of the Rongkong River, including seasonal water level fluctuations and potential for local scour, were analyzed to ensure the long-term stability of the bridge structure. The proposed design integrates structural aspects with flood mitigation strategies through raising the girder elevation, optimizing foundation depth, and protecting against riverbed erosion. This study contributes to the development of a safe and flood-resilient bridge design based on the geotechnical and hydraulic conditions of the site.

Abstract

Currently, most coffee processing is limited to the use of coffee beans. Coffee waste production accounts for approximately 72% of the weight of the fresh fruit and has not been optimally utilised. In Bener Meriah Regency, women engage in harvesting activities as a means of generating income for their families. With the formation of this group, it is hoped that this group of women harvesters will not only carry out harvesting activities but can utilize unused coffee skin waste and can be used to create items of high economic value. This community service activity will be carried out in Kenine Village, Timang Gajah District, Bener Meriah Regency. The target output to be achieved is increasing partner awareness to become entrepreneurs and have the skills to produce products such as tea, fertiliser and fish pellets from coffee skin waste.

Abstract

Abstract

This study presents the application of an Augmented Reality (AR)–based digital interpretation system to enhance speleological geotourism experiences at Bonen Cave, Baumata Village, Kupang Regency, Indonesia. The research addresses limitations in conventional geotourism interpretation, including low interactivity, limited informational accessibility, and potential environmental disturbance in karst cave environments. The developed AR application integrates three-dimensional cave models, geological explanations, and historical narratives related to the use of the cave during the Japanese occupation period. Implementation was conducted through a community-based approach involving local tour guides and tourism stakeholders. The application was officially launched during the Fatusuba Festival on 17 October 2025 and publicly demonstrated to visitors. Field testing confirmed stable performance and compatibility across multiple Android devices, including Redmi Note 13 Pro, Redmi Note 9 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy A56. Results indicate that the AR application improves visitor engagement, supports knowledge transfer, and strengthens digital promotion of speleological geotourism while reducing the need for direct physical interaction with sensitive cave features. This study demonstrates that AR technology can serve as an effective and sustainable tool for enhancing geotourism experiences and empowering local communities in karst regions.

Abstract

Floods are one of the most frequent natural disasters in Indonesia and have a significant impact on vulnerable groups, including children living in orphanages. Miftahul Jannah Orphanage is one of the social institutions affected by the floods, disrupting their caregiving activities, health, and the psychosocial well-being of the children. This study aims to analyze the process and impact of the distribution of humanitarian aid to Miftahul Jannah Orphanage after the floods. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection was conducted through field observations, semi-structured interviews with orphanage administrators, orphanage children, and volunteers, and documentation of aid distribution activities. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns of needs, benefits of aid, and implementation challenges. The results show that the distribution of humanitarian aid has a positive impact on meeting basic needs, improving environmental hygiene and health, and restoring the psychosocial conditions of orphanage children. However, challenges remain in the logistical aspects and sustainability of aid. This study concludes that needs-based humanitarian assistance, targeted at vulnerable groups, and integrating material assistance and psychosocial support, is crucial for supporting sustainable post-disaster recovery. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for the development of future humanitarian assistance and community service programs.

Abstract

Flooding is a natural disaster that frequently affects coastal areas in Aceh, including Meunasah Alue Village in Muara Dua District, Lhokseumawe City. This condition is caused by high rainfall, suboptimal drainage systems, and low public awareness of environmental cleanliness. This community service activity aims to increase community capacity and awareness in flood mitigation through participatory-based environmental education and action programs. The implementation method uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) and Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) approaches that directly involve the community in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities. The program was implemented for three months through stages of flood mitigation education, environmental actions (cleaning ditches, planting vegetation, and creating biopores), and the formation of Village Flood Alert Groups (KSBD). The results of the activity showed a 38% increase in community understanding, a decrease in inundation points from 14 to 6 points, and increased active participation of residents in maintaining environmental cleanliness. In addition to the physical impact, this activity also strengthened collective awareness, social solidarity, and coordination between the community and the village government. Thus, community empowerment through environmental education and action has proven effective in building community resilience to flood risks at the local level and can be used as a model for replication in other areas with similar characteristics.
