Abstract

Processing coconut into copra is an important strategy to increase value added and farmers’ income in rural areas. However, traditional copra processing businesses often face problems such as price fluctuations, high production costs, and limited understanding of business feasibility analysis. This study aims to analyze the value added and business feasibility of copra processing in Bone Regency, specifically in Tellusiattinge District, Ulo Village. The study was conducted from September to October 2025 using a descriptive method with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research population consisted of 15 copra processing entrepreneurs, all of whom were selected as respondents using a census technique. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis included production cost analysis, income analysis, value added analysis using the Hayami method, and business feasibility analysis using the Revenue Cost Ratio. The results showed that the average value added from processing coconut into copra was Rp2,100 per kilogram with a value added ratio of 37.5 percent, which falls into the medium category. The average Revenue Cost Ratio of 1.35 indicates that the copra processing business is feasible and profitable to operate. The findings imply that copra processing has the potential to increase farmers’ income and rural economic development, therefore requiring support in improving production efficiency and adopting better processing technologies to enhance value added.

Abstract

Sugar apple (Annona squamosa L.) is one of the local fruit commodities with high potential as a source of functional natural ingredients. This study aims to identify the morphological characteristics and profile the phytochemical content of local Sumenep sugar apple fruit as a basis for the development of its bioactivity. Morphological observations were carried out in the Sumenep area, including fruit shape, size, stem circumference, leaf characteristics, and flower parts. Phytochemical analysis was conducted using qualitative tests for tannins and saponins, while tests for flavonoids and alkaloids are planned for the next stage. Observation results showed that local Sumenep sugar apple fruits have morphological variations in the form of ovoid, round, and oblong shapes, influenced by genetic factors and environmental conditions.  Phytochemical tests showed the presence of tannins, indicated by a color change to dark green when using FeCl₃ reagent, as well as the presence of saponins, demonstrated by the formation of stable foam during the shaking test. These findings reinforce the potential of local Sumenep soursop fruit as a candidate source of functional natural compounds, particularly in relation to antioxidant, antimicrobial activities, and other pharmacological benefits. Further studies are needed to analyze other phytochemical contents and evaluate bioactive activities more comprehensively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the institutional effectiveness of Women Farmers Groups (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT) in enhancing members’ capacity and their role in agricultural enterprise development in Puulemo Village, Kolaka Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with KWT leaders and members, and a review of relevant secondary data. Data were analyzed inductively through data reduction, data display, and thematic conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the institutional effectiveness of the KWT is categorized as moderately effective, as reflected in a clear organizational structure, relatively high member participation, and the implementation of various capacity-building activities, including organic fertilizer production, horticultural cultivation, local food processing, and basic marketing practices. These activities have positively contributed to improving members’ knowledge, skills, and economic independence. However, institutional effectiveness has not been fully optimized due to limited post-training assistance, low digital literacy, and inadequate utilization of information technology for business development and product marketing.Furthermore, the KWT plays a strategic role in agricultural enterprise development through production activities, value-added processing, and local-scale marketing, which contribute to increasing household income. This study highlights the importance of strengthening institutional capacity, improving human resources, and optimizing the use of information technology and digital marketing to enhance the sustainability of KWT as a driver of rural women’s economic empowerment and local food security.

Abstract

Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) are biological agents that play an important role in increasing the efficiency of nutrient uptake and plant tolerance to abiotic stress, especially in acidic soils such as ultisols. This study aims to analyze the growth and yield responses of chili (Capsicum annuum L.) to the combination of NPK fertilizer doses and AMF inoculation. The study was conducted in Sungai Talang, Gadut, Agam Regency, from June to October 2025 using a Factorial Completely Randomized Design with two factors, namely AMF inoculation (without AMF, Glomus sp., and Rhizophagus sp.) and NPK fertilizer doses (100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% of the recommendation). The results showed a significant interaction between AMF inoculation and NPK doses on plant height, dry weight, flowering time, and fruit yield per plant. Glomus sp. inoculation with a 50% NPK fertilizer dose resulted in the highest growth and yield, equivalent to the 100% NPK treatment without AMF. The integration of AMF with a 50% reduction in NPK dosage has been shown to maintain crop productivity. This strategy can serve as a basis for developing a sustainable agricultural system based on nutrient efficiency and soil microbial balance.

Abstract

The factors influencing lowland rice production in Padang City are the focus of this study. The study was conducted through a field survey of lowland rice farmers to obtain primary data relevant to farming activities. The analysis method used was multiple linear regression with the dependent variable being lowland rice production (Y) and independent variables including land area (X₁), seeds (X₂), fertilizer (X₃), labor (X₄), and farming experience (X₅). The research findings show that simultaneously all production factors, including land area, seeds, fertilizer, labor, and farming experience, have a significant effect on lowland rice production in Padang City. Partially, the variables of fertilizer and labor have a significant effect on lowland rice production, while land area, seeds, and farming experience have no significant effect. These findings indicate that the increase in lowland rice production in Padang City is more determined by input intensification efforts, particularly through appropriate fertilization and labor availability, compared to land expansion. As a result, agricultural policies need to be directed at increasing input efficiency to support the productivity and sustainability of rice farming.

Abstract

Rice is the staple food of most Indonesian people, making its availability a national priority. This study aims to analyze the effect of harvested area on national rice production using a time series linear regression approach based on monthly data in 2025. The research employed quantitative methods using secondary data analyzed with SPSS 27. The regression results produced the equation Ŷ = –0.067 + 0.003X. The t-test showed a significance value < 0.001, indicating that harvested area has a positive and significant effect on rice production. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.994, meaning 99.4% of rice production variation is explained by harvested area. These findings indicate that fluctuations in national rice production are largely determined by changes in harvested area rather than short-term productivity variations. Therefore, policies to increase rice production should prioritize maintaining harvested area through land protection, planting acceleration, and crop failure mitigation. The study contributes to providing an empirical model for short-term prediction of rice production in Indonesia.

Abstract

Sugarcane plays crucial and strategic role in the economy as the primary raw material for sugar production, thus ensuring proper procurement of sugarcane in the production process is crucial for smooth and successful production. This study aims to determine the management of sugarcane procurement and the constraints faced in meeting the demand for sugarcane at the Madukismo Sugar Factory in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The basic method is descriptive. The location was determined intentionally at the Madukismo Sugar Factory in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, research was conducted from December 22, 2021, to January 15, 2022. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and recording. The data analysis method was descriptive. The results of the study indicate that the procurement mechanisms for sugarcane include: factory capacity, planting area, planting schedule, and cutting schedule. Sugarcane planting is carried out in stages, starting from May to December, through partnership plantations and smallholder plantations. Harvesting and delivery of sugarcane to the Madukismo Sugar Factory are carried out in stages to prevent stockpiling of raw materials. Cutting is scheduled according to the harvest schedule, as the sugarcane harvest period is 12 months. Excess sugarcane raw materials at the Madukismo sugar factory will be processed the following day. Obstacles affecting the procurement of sugarcane raw materials at the Madukismo sugar factory include cutting labor, transportation, and the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused difficulties providing harvesting labor, resulting in delayed raw material delivery to the sugar factory in 2020 and 2021.
