Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between English teachers' professional competency and student motivation in high schools in Tanjungpinang, Indonesia. Recognizing the critical role of teacher competence in influencing student engagement and learning outcomes, this research addresses a gap in understanding how different aspects of teacher effectiveness impact student motivation across various schools. The study aims to evaluate how teachers' pedagogical skills, competency perceptions, and classroom strategies affect students' attitudes towards learning English. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through interviews with four English teachers and questionnaires completed by 127 students from SMKN 1 Tanjungpinang, SMKS Maitreyawira Tanjungpinang, SMAN 2 Tanjungpinang, and SMA Pelita Nusantara Tanjungpinang. Key findings reveal that while overall student motivation is high, significant variability exists in how teaching methods and teacher competency are perceived and their effect on motivation. Teachers at different schools employ varied strategies, impacting student engagement differently. The study highlights the need for targeted professional development to address inconsistencies and improve teaching effectiveness. The implications suggest enhancing teacher training programs and refining classroom practices to foster a more uniformly motivating learning environment. Future research should explore longitudinal effects of teacher competency on student outcomes and further investigate the interplay of external factors affecting motivation.

Abstract

Investment is an important area that makes a major contribution to the country's economic growth. Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation changes the provisions regarding capital investment which were previously regulated in Law Number 25 of 2007 concerning Capital Investment. The research in this article uses a normative legal research method. In this study, researchers examine and detail a problem using secondary data to find a solution. The process of collecting data to solve the problem is carried out through library research, which is then analyzed qualitatively. These changes include the elimination of business sectors that are prohibited from investing, from 20 business sectors to only 6 business sectors. This change is expected to expand the investment space in Indonesia and bring progress in the economic and technological fields. In response to these challenges, the Indonesian government has introduced the Job Creation Law. This law is designed with the main objective of creating jobs through simplification, protection, and empowerment for cooperatives, MSMEs, and national industry and trade. This step aims to create jobs in Indonesia efficiently, while paying attention to the balance and development between regions in the context of the national economy.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the motivation and interpersonal communication of online mobile legend game players in the MG esports Tebet community. This research uses qualitative methodology. This method is often referred to as naturalistic research because it is carried out in natural conditions (as opposed to experimental conditions). Researchers used purposive sampling for the research object of this study. The participants in this research were 8 people, mainly aged between 21 and 35 years and played the online game Mobile Legends. The data acquisition method used by researchers is in-depth interviews on each research topic. This research highlights the role of McClelland's Theory in understanding motivation and interpersonal interactions in the context of the MG Esport Tebet community. This theory identifies three basic human needs, namely the need for achievement, affiliation, and power, which significantly influence individual behavior in various contexts, including in online games such as Mobile Legend. In the context of the need for achievement (Needs for achievement), Mobile Legend players in this community feel driven to achieve success and gain recognition for their achievements in the game. This motivation is reflected in their efforts to influence game strategy and act as leaders in the team. On the other hand, the need for affiliation is reflected in the warm and caring relationships between Mobile Legend players in the MG Esport Tebet community. Players enjoy being able to interact, gather, and share experiences with members of their community. In McClelland's theory, the need for affiliation refers to the interpersonal desire to be friendly and familiar with the surrounding environment, which is reflected in intimate and harmonious interactions between community members.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the issue of character among the millennial generation, especially at the local level. The aim of the study is to identify character values in the Caci dance to guide the character formation of the millennial generation. The research method is qualitative. The primary subjects are traditional leaders, community leaders, and male Caci dancers. Field data was obtained through interviews. Data analysis techniques involve grouping, presenting data, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the Caci dance reveals theological-ecological values, axiological values, and aesthetic values. The implication of the Caci dance is that Caci players and the young generation of Manggarai are at least holistic humans. They must be clean, pure, and sacred, not involved in moral scandals, such as gambling, conflicts, and free sex, before competing in the Caci arena.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology offers significant opportunities for rural transformation through the Smart Village concept. However, many residents still lack awareness and understanding of the benefits and implementation of Smart Village programs. This study aims to analyze how the Design Thinking theory can be applied in the design of digital content to increase public awareness of Smart Village initiatives in Kertayasa Village. Utilizing a qualitative method, the research employs Focus Group Interviews (FGIs) with 13 active social media users in the village, and in-depth interviews with village officials. The study adopts the Design Thinking framework a user-centered theory consisting of five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. As a result, four digital posters and four short videos were created and distributed via WhatsApp and TikTok, the most commonly used platforms by the community. The findings reveal that the digital content significantly improved residents' understanding and pride in the Smart Village programs, especially in the areas of waste management (TPS 3R), SIMAK, and digital library. The novelty of this study lies in the contextual application of Design Thinking for content development in a rural digital literacy context, a topic that remains underexplored in existing literature. In conclusion, Design Thinking is proven to be an effective and adaptive method for designing impactful, user-centered digital communication strategies in rural development initiatives

Abstract

This study focuses on community-based waste management strategies in Deli Serdang Regency with a community self-help approach towards a healthy and waste-free area. The core problem raised in this study is the low level of community participation in waste management which has an impact on increasing the volume of unmanaged waste and has a negative impact on the environment and public health. The purpose of the study is to formulate an effective strategy to increase community awareness and participation in waste management, as well as build collaboration to realize a more efficient and sustainable waste management system. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach through participatory rural appraisal (PRA). Furthermore, data analysis was carried out by identifying key themes that emerged from the interaction, as well as developing a participatory strategy that involved the community in waste management. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of community-based waste management strategies through community self-help can increase community awareness and participation in waste management. It was found that effective counseling and training as well as the formation of community groups that focus on waste management have improved the community's ability to manage and recycle waste. In addition, the implications of this study also emphasize the importance of local government support in facilitating policies and providing the necessary infrastructure. The novelty of this study shows that community-based waste management strategies through independent governance have proven to be an effective alternative in creating healthy and waste-free areas in Deli Serdang Regency. This study is expected to be a reference for other regions in implementing similar programs to overcome waste problems at the community level

Abstract

Recent years have witnessed a notable expansion in the number of educational facilities, reflecting a vibrant evolution within the realm of education. A heightened awareness of the importance of education is one of the factors that has facilitated the growth and development of a multitude of educational institutions. However, the primary criterion for evaluating the development of educational institutions is the quality of education they provide. This is particularly evident in the context of the proliferation of educational institutions in our environment. Educational institutions that have demonstrated robust growth are those that have developed competitive strategies by identifying and capitalizing on existing opportunities, while also pursuing continuous improvement. Achieving these goals requires the implementation of a multifaceted approach. Competitive advantage represents one such strategy, whereby institutions formulate plans to capitalize on opportunities and consumer interests by maximizing revenue from investments. This approach serves as a pivotal solution in navigating the competitive landscape of educational institutions.
