Abstract

Supomo put forward the idea of political integralism (Staatsidee Integralistik), in the Indonesian State Establishment Session (1945), by referring to three Western philosophers: Spinoza, Adam Muller, and Hegel. The question from an academic aspect that has not been answered until now is why integralism must be based on these three philosophers and not others, and also why must it start with Spinoza and end with Hegel and not another arrangement? With this philosophical study method, we want to explore why Supomo mentioned the three philosophers in such an arrangement, was it because of chronological or study method reasons? Therefore, there are two possible answers: First, Supomo took the appropriate elements from each philosopher according to the needs to fill the philosophical substance of his integralistic idea, so it is an eclectic method. Second, considering that the three philosophers cannot simply be connected, let alone equated, and supported by the structure of Supomo's speech which is also dialectical, so he uses the dialectical method. The result of this study is that integralism uses the dialectical method with its central idea of religion: Spinoza (thesis) rejects a religious state; Adam Muller (antithesis) accepts a religious state; and Hegel (synthesis) defines co-existence as both, thus recognizing that religion exists in the state but does not have to be a religious state. Hegel's answer is by the optio fundamentalis of Supomo's politics, namely rejecting the Islamic State demanded by Muslims and wanting to build a nation-state that includes all groups. Keywords: integralistic state, organic state, dialectic, religious state, nation state

Abstract

This article focuses attention on the educational praxis of prospective priests in Flores within the inter gentes mission paradigm. The education of prospective priests in the Catholic Church in Flores is still a closed education, namely an educational process that separates people from society for a form of life that is separate from society. Educational praxis like this can be fruitful output who considers himself a 'master' with all-round qualities for all pastoral matters. On this basis, it is very important to create a inter gentes mission paradigm as a theological basis for the practical education of prospective priests in Flores. Gentes in understanding inter gentes understood as nations, cultures, and groups of people with distinctive views and lifestyles. Mission inter gentes considered suitable to answer the needs of Flores which is marked by cultural diversity and a society that still faces the problem of poverty. The education of priest candidates in Flores is carried out in the inter gentes mission paradigm requires the educational practice of prospective priests to be more open to the complexity of the reality of life which is marked by the plurality of religions, cultures and perspectives in society. Apart from that, the commitment to defending the environment and involving women in the formation of prospective priests is also a concern of the mission inter gentes. Keywords: Education; Candidate for Priest; Church; Inter Gentes Mission

Abstract

Catholicism in Lembata has been built on the blood of the martyrs. It is also on this basis that SVD missionaries started their work there 100 years ago. The presence of the SVD marks an important momentum for a more serious mission work on this island. Pastor Bernhard Bode, SVD was the first SVD pastor to live there in 1920. With his "martyrdom" spirit, he is seen as an icon for the growth of Catholicism in Lembata. This article aims to explore the value of martyrdom from historical facts that can be traced throughout the pre-SVD missionary period and the first 30 years of missionary work by SVD missionaries in this place. The method used in this study is a qualitative method employed by reading various sources, both archival sources in the form of historical documents, as well as other historical sources that are relevant to the theme under study. The results of this study confirm that the value of martyrdom is an enduring value that will not be outdated over time, and therefore should be upheld by Catholics in living their faith in the present and the future. More than that, the spirit of martyrdom should be a hallmark of Catholicism. Keywords: Bode, Dominican, Islam, Jesuits, Lembata, Martyrdom, mission, SVD

Abstract

The increasing development of technology has raised concerns among some people regarding its impact on the relationship between humans and nature. This study examines the anti-digitalization attitudes of the Baduy Dalam community as a deliberate effort to maintain harmony between humans and nature. Utilizing a phenomenological approach, this research explores the philosophical foundations of the Baduy Dalam’s resistance to modern technology, focusing on their adherence to traditional ecological practices. The findings of this study indicate that the Baduy Dalam community’s way of life, by rejecting digitalization, offers a unique model for rethinking the role of technology in modern society. This research contributes to a broader philosophical discourse about the relationship between humans, technology, ecology, and indigenous knowledge systems, suggesting that the anti-digitalization practices of the Baduy Dalam serve as a reminder of the importance of maintaining harmony between humans and nature amid rapid technological changes. Keywords: Anti-Digitalization, Human and Nature Harmony, Baduy Dalam Community, Environmental Conservation, Cultural Tradition

Abstract

The role of women in caregiving, particularly for toddlers, is essential. The recent surge in cases of violence highlights that the need for proper care often remains unmet. In 2023, Databoks recorded 24,158 cases of violence against children. A common reason behind this phenomenon is the lack or absence of adequate care from parents. Economic factors, socio-cultural demands, and a lack of awareness regarding the importance of caregiving for children influence this lack of parental care. This study aims to examine the existence of women in child caregiving based on Simone de Beauvoir’s perspective as a means to prevent violence against children. The research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing a literature review as the main method. The data sources are from credible literature, including books, journals, articles, conference proceedings, and reports. Simone de Beauvoir’s philosophical ideas are interpreted by using a hermeneutic method. The study is expected to produce a relevant and comprehensive understanding and critique of the concept of women’s existence in Simone de Beauvoir’s existentialist philosophy concerning child caregiving in order to prevent violence against children. Key words : Child Care, Existence, Human Philosophy, Women.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the existence of the Roah Bale Beleq tradition in Wakan Village as a reinforcement of spiritual and social aspects. The research method employed is a descriptive-qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, and documentation. Interviews were conducted with the head of the hamlet and traditional leaders. The results indicate that the Roah Bale Beleq tradition serves to strengthen spiritual aspects, such as ta'lim assemblies, dhikr, and communal prayers, as well as social aspects like cooperation and communal meals. These positive elements need to be preserved, making them among the reasons the tradition is still upheld today, despite changes such as reduced participant numbers and the discontinuation of traditional Lombok clothing, namely Lambung. Keywords: Existence of Tradition, Spiritual Aspect, Social Aspect

Abstract

In recent years, Flores has become a frontier due to government policies that exploit living space, culture, and the rights of local communities. It represents the irony of the government's policy called the Green Economy as a model of development that emphasizes common prosperity without destroying the environment and culture. This research aims to respond further to this issue by proposing a dialectic between the deep ecology of Spinozism and the Barong Wae ritual of the Manggaraian people. The method used in this research is a dialectic approach of the Principle of Expression (critical study of literature) and the Principle of Differentiation (interview key informants). This research indicates that the normative concept of the green economy is inadequate for the sustainability of local communities in Flores. It requires a radical transformation in the human paradigm of nature, creating a green cognitive, followed by green affective, and green psychomotor. The dialectic between the deep ecology of Spinoza and the Barong Wae ritual can encourage this radical paradigm by providing some key concepts, including the intrinsic values of all entities, biosphere egalitarianism, self-realization, and ecological communitarianism. It can be concluded that talking about the green economy is not only about pro-people and pro-profit, but especially pro-ecology.Keywords: Deep Ecology, Spinozism, Barong Wae, Green Economy, Ecological Communitarianism

Abstract

Cultural diversity in Indonesia acts as a catalyst for tolerance and the formation of a diverse society with values rooted in religion, local wisdom, and cultural heritage. However, the low level of spiritual understanding and inadequate cultural integration in East Nusa Tenggara have triggered the emergence of cases that disregard the human life cycle, such as the prevalence of abortion and suicide, as well as social and economic pressures that undermine the mental well-being of the community. Previous research delved into the local wisdom of the Timorese community, the historical aspects of the Timorese culture, and the Toit Ulan Ritual in Central Amanuban. This study focuses on the beliefs of Atoni Pah Meto in the Banamas Neonsaet (East Amanuban), exploring its cultural heritage and local beliefs. It aims to understand the impact of ceremonies on each life stage from the perspective of their local wisdom that contributing to the preservation of the community’s mental well-being. Utilizing qualitative methods and a phenomenological approach involving community leaders, the study employs observation, interviews, and documentation, with subsequent data reduction, presentation, and verification. Findings highlight that life-cycle ceremonies reflect values of familial bonds, cooperation, and harmony with nature. Marriage and funeral processes involve family roles in maintaining spirituality and warding off spiritual disturbances. Despite the influence of formal religion, traces of traditional beliefs persist, shaping a unique identity that harmonizes cultural heritage and religion. The research underscores the importance of preserving and understanding this cultural richness for the sustainability and harmony of the Atoni Pah Meto in the East Amanuban. Key words: East Amanuban, Ceremony, Life Cycle, Local Wisdom, Atoni Pah Meto.
