Abstract

Human life in the era of globalization has become easier and faster. However, this convenience comes with negative impacts, leading to increased individualism, excessive consumption, wastefulness, and the rapid spread of hate speech. To address the complex effects of globalization, social Sufi values are applied by figures such as Habib Husein Jafar Al-Hadar. Habib Husein Jafar, an Islamic scholaractively involved in social media-based preaching, consistently applies a Sufi approach in every aspect of his preaching. This research employs a qualitative research approach using a figure's thought study with a literature review, utilizing content analysis techniques. Data collection involves digital and print documentation related to the theme of social Sufism, with digital documentation from the Jeda Nulis channel and the LogIn program, and printed documentation from books authored by Habib Ja’far. The findings emphasize the significance of applying social Sufi values in this era to cultivate individuals who are pious both ritually and socially. Three social Sufi values identified in Husein Ja’far Al-Hadar's thinking include a minimalist lifestyle, a moderate attitude, and practicing good relations(silaturahmi). Minimalist values teach simplicity, avoidance of the forbidden, and acceptance within one's capacity. Moderate attitude and practicing good relations (silaturahmi) create a life that ensures happiness not only in this world but also in the hereafter, fostering harmonious relationships and preventing individualistic, egoistic, and antagonistic behaviors.

Abstract

The community highly trusts Islamic boarding schools as religious, educational institutions in religious formation. Many Islamic boarding schools are participating in the Hajj and Umrah guidance business by establishing the Hajj and Umrah Guidance Group (KBIHU). This article aims to analyze the dynamics of Islamic boarding school-based KBIHU in guiding the Hajj and Umrah in Bogor Regency and Jember Regency. This article uses an ethnographic approach with data collection techniques through interviews and observations conducted at KBIHU in Bogor and Jember. The results of this study show that the presence of KBIHU helps the government's duties and functions in carrying out guidance to Hajj pilgrims as regulated in the Decree of the Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organization (Dirjen PHU) Number 59 of 2019 concerning Operational Guidelines for Guidance Groups. The existence of Islamic boarding school-based KBIHU generally depends on the quality of human resources in management and supervisors. Kiai, as Islamic boarding school caregivers, have qualified knowledge but still need to be competent in guidance and have certificates. They must be more competent in secretarial procedures, guidance agreement documents, participant data, and guidance plans. The supervisory agencies for KBIHU, such as the Directorate General of PHU, the PHU Division of the Regional Office, and the PHU Section of the Ministry of Religion, have not fully implemented the Decree of the Director General of PHU 59 of 2019 in terms of guidance, supervision, control and reporting by the provisions of this decision. In carrying out accreditation, the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion must involve professional institutions to guide KBIHU in reporting, documents and all its obligations. KBIHU reporting and documents must be done digitally using the PUSAKA Application as the Ministry of Religion's Super Apps. Increasing the capacity of KBIHU based on Islamic boarding schools can contribute to the development of foundations/Islamic boarding schools and provide knowledge to the community.

Abstract

Numerous scholarly articles have explored the relationship between education and its role in promoting religious moderation since the concept was introduced in Indonesia. However, only a few articles have been published in journals indexed by Scopus. Concerning Scopus as an accredited journal indexer recognized internationally, this paper's objective was to perform a systematic review of existing literature using the Scopus database from 2019 to 2023 to analyze the significance of education in strengthening religious moderation in Indonesia. The main steps are planning, conducting, and reporting the review. It includes 14 selected articles categorized based on five elements of educational systems: teachers, students, educational objectives, learning management, and educational environments. According to the systematic literature review, education has strengthened religious moderation in Indonesia. It is supported by sufficient teachers' capabilities in teaching religious moderation, students' role as the agents of religious moderation, educational objectives that accommodate religious moderation values, learning managements that use various learning methods and resources, higher thinking order skills, interreligious dialogue, and strategic partnership, and educational environments that provide sufficient learning systems, such as integrating Madrasah Diniyah and Pesantren Universities. However, the implementation still faces challenges requiring more attention from various parties.

Abstract

Halal product assurance in Indonesia presents challenges requiring correction, particularly concerning (1) conception, (2) implementation, and (3) reconstruction of halal product guarantees. The current concept results in a passive government, dependent on public initiatives. Reconstruction is essential to highlight the active governmental role and reinforce societal engagement. This research formulates the halal product guarantee concept, assesses its Indonesian implementation, and proposes reconstruction for justice and benefit. Employing doctrinal research methods, the study analyses legislation, concepts, history, and cases, utilizing primary and secondary legal materials with documentation as the primary data collection technique. Findings reveal the current halal product assurance concept renders the government passive, prompting a public call for its active involvement. Reconstruction becomes pivotal to prevent controversies. The revamped concept should focus on enhancing community involvement and ensuring an active government role. Community engagement with a uniform understanding is crucial, and the government should actively participate, including empowering investigations. This study contributes conceptual insights, urging an evaluation and reformulation of halal product guarantees, emphasizing the active state role through the government. The recommendations aim to improve the conception of halal product guarantees and foster a more active, inclusive approach to ensure justice and societal well-being.

Abstract

The tendency to bring Sufism closer to the main sources of Shari'a in Indonesian contexts began in the 17th century. One manuscript that strongly indicates this phenomenon is the Kitāb al-'Ishq (The Nature of Jamāl and Jalāl), DS 0012 00001, a Sufism text from the Kuningan area which is thought to have been written in the 18th–19th centuries. This philological study aims to reveal how Kitāb al-'Ishq contributed to promoting philosophical Sufism, in this case the doctrine of Nūr Muḥammad, which in fact is part of the doctrine of Martabat Tujuh. This study shows that Kitāb al-'Ishq has at least two important contributions. First, Kitāb al-'Ishq contributes to showing the harmony of Nūr Muḥammad's doctrine with the Shari'a, namely by providing a number of Qur'ānī arguments. From a number of arguments presented, it appears that this text is still connected to the thoughts of several previous Middle Eastern Sufi figures, such as Saḥl al-Tustarī, al-Qushayrī and 'Abd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī. Second, Kitāb al-'Ishq shows the author's efforts to ground his doctrine, namely by using metaphors and analogies that are popular among Indonesian people in explaining the concept of Nūr Muḥammad with the aim of making it easy to digest and acceptable. Its position in Kuningan proves that in the Indonesian context, the tendency to harmonize Sufism with the Al-Qur'an and Hadith does not only occur in the Sumatra region, but also in West Java.

Abstract

Religious character education is a serious challenge for formal educational institutions in Indonesia, especially when facing an era of disruption that has seen educational institutions digitized. Various efforts have been made, including integrating formal educational institutions with madrasah diniyah to strive for the development of students' religious character. Based on this, this research aims to examine education in madrasah diniyah, the integration model between madrasah diniyah and formal educational institutions, and the results of this integration. This research is qualitative, using a case study approach. This research was conducted at three educational institutions, namely Madrasah Diniyah Al-Furqon, MI Al-Furqon, and SDN 3 Panjang. The results of the research show that religious education at Madrasah Diniyah Al-Furqon has built a religious foundation and also the religious character of students. From this, institutional integration has been formed between Madrasah Diniyah Al-Furqon and MI Al-Furqon and cultural integration between Madrasah Diniyah Al-Furqon and SDN 3 Panjang. This integration makes students have deeper values: social awareness, discipline, worship, politeness, and also Islamic knowledge are greater than students who do not study at madrasah diniyah.

Abstract

The background of this research is that, apart from interpreting the verses related to God and yoga practice contextually, it also aims to analyse the metaphysics of yoga in the Gheranda Samhita book so that the knowledge gained by academics and yoga practitioners is more comprehensive. Metaphysics is full of discussions relating to God, the soul, eschatology, and illusory things. Moreover, if you study it using the postulates in a script as a limitation to sharpen the perspective that will be born, one script that can be used as a reference for understanding the dimensions of metaphysics is the Gheranda Samhita. Through descriptive qualitative methods, using hermeneutic theory, this research found the following findings: First, apart from Shiva as an aspect of God's representation as described in the Gheranda Samhita script, there are still other aspects of God that can represent His greatness. Second, it is through soul awareness that humans can achieve perfect awareness in living life. Third, there are no shackles like Maya, the term which is identified with the words illusion or bondage. Fourth, karma: actions in life. Fifth, Ahamkara, is another term for ego, and Sixth, Brahman and its Prakrti activities.

Abstract

The construction of houses of worship in some areas of Indonesia often causes social conflict. In some cases, the conflict of houses of worship can be resolved well and some are not resolved. The establishment of houses of worship in Tangerang Regency, Banten Province, namely the construction of HKBP Rogate, GKBJ Sepatan, and GBI Tanjakan churches also triggered the social conflict. This article aims to reveal the chronology of the conflict over the construction of the three churches and the local government's actions in overcoming the conflict issues that arose. These three cases were studied by researchers using a qualitative approach and analyzed using the CGR (Collaborative Governance Regime) model.  This CGR model analysis is part of the early response of the parties related to the conflict and can reveal the weaknesses, and strengths in the conflict resolution of the establishment of houses of worship. The data collection method uses interview techniques and documentation studies. The findings of this research show that in the three cases of conflict, two cases show an escalating conflict (the emergence of mass action), and one case does not escalate. Conflict resolution against the establishment of the three houses of worship by the government and community leaders can prevent conflict escalation in the form of mass mobilization if the parties succeed in identifying problems at the location. Identification of parties who have the authority to determine the final direction of the conflict, especially those who reject the presence or establishment of houses of worship, is important in conflict resolution efforts. The success of conflict resolution efforts depends on the involvement of all parties who are authorized to determine the end of the conflict.

Abstract

Early childhood sexuality education is essential for safeguarding young children against inappropriate sexual content and potential abuse. This study underscores the importance of such education within the context of Muslim teachers. The primary objective of this research is to gain insights into the practical implementation of sexuality education during early childhood. The study encompasses the participation of 248 Muslim early childhood teachers. By collecting open-ended inquiries, analyzing responses verbatim, and categorizing the results, the research illuminates the multifaceted responsibilities of these teachers. Their roles include providing guidance on toileting, mitigating self-touch behaviors, addressing sexual curiosity, promoting genital health and hygiene, preventing sexual harassment, and recognizing the spectrum of gender roles. The findings highlight the urgency of developing a well-structured curriculum, fostering collaboration between parents and teachers, providing specialized teacher training, promoting a positive public perception of sexuality education, and ensuring substantial government involvement in early childhood sexual education.
