Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Drug interactions are a common issue in prescription patterns that may influence patient outcomes by altering the effects of medications. Understanding the clinical significance of drug interactions is essential to ensure safe and effective therapy. This study aimed to identify the potential drug interactions based on their clinical significance levels in outpatient prescription patternsMethods: A prospective cohort study was conducted by observing and reviewing 250 outpatient prescriptions collected over one month. Potential drug interactions were identified using the Medscape Drug Interaction Checker and analyzed descriptively according to their clinical significance categories.Results: Of 250 prescriptions analyzed, 30 prescriptions (12%) showed potential drug interactions involving 48 drug components. The majority were classified as moderate interactions (57.44%), followed by minor (36.17%) and major (6.38%). Most interactions occurred in prescriptions for infectious diseases accompanied by pain (63.33%)..Conclusion: The findings indicate that drug interactions in outpatient prescriptions remain a relevant concern, particularly moderate-level interactions. Pharmacists play a key role in monitoring, identifying, and managing drug interactions to prevent adverse effects and improve therapeutic outcomes. Strengthening computerized drug screening systems and pharmacist counseling is recommended to enhance patient safety.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Mosquito-borne diseases are associated with a high risk of mortality and morbidity. One strategy to reduce the risk of these diseases is the application of larvicides in powder form. Papaya (Carica papaya) leaves have demonstrated potential as a natural larvicide due to their bioactive compounds.Methods: This quantitative study employed a pre-experimental design using an Intact Group Comparison approach. Data were collected using an observation checklist. Samples were selected through purposive sampling, with a total of 50 mosquito larvae allocated into four treatment groups receiving papaya leaf powder at doses of 60 mg, 150 mg, 300 mg, and 500 mg, and one control group.Results: The lowest larval mortality was observed in the 60 mg treatment group (10%), while the highest mortality occurred in the 500 mg treatment group (60%). Statistical analysis showed that the 60 mg, 150 mg, and 300 mg treatment groups had p-values > 0.05, indicating no significant differences compared with the control group. In contrast, the 500 mg treatment group showed a p-value of 0.011 (< 0.05), demonstrating a statistically significant difference in larval mortality compared with the control group.Conclusion: Papaya (Carica papaya) leaf powder at a dose of 500 mg significantly increased mosquito larval mortality, indicating its potential as a natural larvicide.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease that may lead to serious complications, including diabetic nephropathy and peripheral vascular disease. Approximately 35–45% of patients with diabetes develop diabetic nephropathy as a microvascular complication, while individuals with diabetes have a 29-fold greater risk of developing peripheral vascular disease, which may subsequently result in neuropathy, infection, diabetic foot ulcers, and lower-limb complications.Methods: This descriptive observational study employed a cross-sectional design. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, resulting in a total sample of 65 patients with diabetes mellitus and chronic complications.Results: The majority of participants were female (56.9%). The largest age group was 60–64 years (23.1%). Most participants had a duration of diabetes of ≤5 years (64.6%) and uncontrolled blood glucose levels (75.4%). Forty percent of the participants reported never engaging in regular physical exercise. Most participants had a normal body mass index (43.2%), regularly adhered to antidiabetic medication (69.2%), received combination antidiabetic therapy (80%), and had uncontrolled dietary patterns (56.9%). Diabetic nephropathy was the most common chronic complication (66.2%), followed by peripheral vascular disease (33.8%).Conclusion: The predominant risk factor characteristics among patients with chronic diabetic nephropathy and/or peripheral vascular disease were female sex, age 60–64 years, duration of diabetes ≤5 years, uncontrolled blood glucose levels, lack of regular physical activity, normal body mass index, regular medication adherence, combination antidiabetic therapy, and uncontrolled dietary patterns.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Food is a basic need for humans who live on this earth which is needed at all times. Food requires good and correct management in order to benefit the body. The food consumed should meet the criteria that this food is fit to eat and does not cause disease. How to prepare, clean food handlers and how the food is served is an important part of food management. Diseases caused by food are one of the causes of illness and death in Indonesia.Method: This study is a narrative review, which is a literature study by examining 7 journals related to food safety in terms of hygiene and sanitation aspects in food handlers.Result: Some of the factors that influence HSM in food handlers are age, education level, level of knowledge. In general, food handlers have never attended a course on food sanitation hygiene, and have never received guidance and supervision from the relevant agencies.Conclusion: Handling behavior 100% do not wash hands with soap when starting work. There is a very significant relationship between the variables of washing hands before working and not washing hands with soap after going to the toilet and the number of germs. Food handlers do not use personal protective equipment such as headgear, work clothes, gloves, aprons and kitchen footwear..

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Areca’s seed is an herbal beverage that are widely consumed as a betel nut. Areca’s seed contains arecoline. High doses of arecoline can damage many organ include spleen. There has been no further histopathological research of the effects with lower doses of betel nut on spleen.Methods: Ten rats Sprague Dawley strain white rats, aged 2-3 months, with 150-200 of grams were divided into 2 groups, namely the control group given aquades and the treatment group given areca nut dose of 50mg/kgBB for 28 days by feeding tube. Histopathologi’s indicators with hematoxilin eosin staining were analyzed by light microscope with 40X for diameter white pulp, 100X for congestion, and 400X for hematopoiesis extrmedullery and necrosis. The assessment for hematopoiesis extramedullery and necrosis used 5 high power-field, congestion used 3 high power field, and changes of diameter whites pulp used 10 high power-field. The data were analyzed by T- Independent statistical test.Results: Average congestion and hematopoiesis extramedullery of treatment group greater than control with p value <0,05. Average necrosis and changes of diameter white pulp of treatment group greater than control group, but there is no significant difference statistically (p value >0,05).Conclusion: Areca’ seed doses 50 mg/KgWB that given for 28 days showed congestion and extra medullary hematopoiesis on rat’s spleen tissue.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background : Hands are a moving medium that is able to move microorganisms from one place to another, from sick people to healthy people, from dirty surfaces to clean surfaces. Therefore washing hands as an effort to maintain hand hygiene is one of the most important actions in preventing the transmission of disease-causing microorganisms both in the environment of everyday life and in preventing high rates of patient morbidity and mortality in health facilities such as hospitals, health centers, and other consequences. nosocomial infections or what is known as Health-care Associated Infections (HAIs). The purpose of this research was to compare the effectiveness of washing hands with seven steps using electrolyzed oxidized water (EOW) and antiseptic soap in maintaining hand hygiene. Methods: This type of research is an analytical study with a pretest-posttest two-group experiment design with random sampling. The research sample was 96 students by swab cotton sticks between their fingers. The cotton swabs were grown in nutrient agar on a petri dish and the colonies count was counted after incubation 16-18 hours in an incubator at 37o Celsius. Data analysis will use statistics with a statistical value of p <0.1.Results: The effectiveness of hands washing with EOW and antiseptic soap can be described as the difference in the number of germ colonies in the seven-step hand washing group with EOW and the difference in the number of germ colonies in the seven-step hand washing group using antiseptic soap. The results of statistical analysis with the Mann Whitney test showed insignificant results p = 0.792. Where the p value <0.1, there is no difference between washing hands with seven steps using EOW with antiseptic soap.Conclusion: There is no difference in the effectiveness of washing hands using EOW with antiseptic soapKey words: hand washing, EOW, antiseptic soap ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Tangan merupakan media bergerak yang mampu memindahkan mikroorganisme dari satu tempat ke tempat lain, dari orang sakit ke orang sehat, dari permukaan yang kotor ke permukaan yang bersih. Oleh karenanya mencuci tangan sebagai usaha menjaga higienitas tangan merupakan salah satu tindakan terpenting dalam mencegah transmisi mikroorganisme penyebab penyakit baik di lingkungan kehidupan sehari-hari maupun dalam mencegah tingginya angka morbiditas dan mortalitas pasien di fasilitas kesehatan seperti rumah sakit, puskesmas, dan lain-lain akibat infeksi nosokomial atau yang dikenal dengan istilah Health-care Assosciated Infections (HAIs). Adapun tujuan dari penellitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbandingan efektivitasan mencuci tangan tujuh langkah dengan menggunakan Electrolyzed Oxidized Water (EOW) maupun sabun antiseptik dalam menjaga kebersihan tangan. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian analitik dengan rancangan penelitian two group pretest-posttest eksperimen dengan tekhnik pengambilan sampel secara random. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 96 mahasiswa dengan cara swab kapas lidi pada sela jarinya. Swab kapas ditanam dimedia nutrient agar pada cawan petri dan dihitung jumlah koloninya stelah diinkubasi 16-18 jam pada inkubator denngan suhu 37ocelsius. Analisis data akan menggunakan statistik dengan nilai p yang dianggap bermakna adalah p<0,1. Hasil : Efektifitas cuci tangan dengan EOW dan sabun antiseptik dapat di jabarkan sebagai selisih jumlah koloni kuman kelompok cuci tangan tujuh langkah dengn EOW dan selisih jumlah koloni kuman pada kelompok cuci tangan tujuh langkah menggunakan sabun antiseptik. Hasil analisis statistik dengan uji mann whitney, menunjukan hasil yang tidak signifikan p = 0,792. Dimana nilai p<0,1 maka tidak terdapat perbedaan antara mencuci tangan tujuh langkah menggunakan EOW dengan sabun antiseptik. Kesimpulan : tidak ada perbedaan keefektifitassan mencuci tangan menggunakan EOW dengan sabun antiseptik Kata kunci : cuci tangan, EOW, sabun antiseptik

Abstract

ABSTRACT The transmission of Soil Transmited Helminths (STH) can occur by contaminated food of infective egg. The types of food most often contaminated such as cabbage and lettuce. This study aimed to find the contamination of STH eggs and identified the eggs type which contaminated in the traditional market of Jambi city. This study was a descriptive research which were done at Biomedical Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Jambi on July-August 2018. Samples taken from three traditional market in the Jambi city that is Talang Banjar, Angso Duo, and Simpang Pulai market. Vegetable samples consisted of 9 cabbage and 9 lettuce from each market. Fifty gram samples were examined by the sedimentation method. There were STH eggs on 16 (29.6%) vegetable samples. The type of STH eggs which contaminated lettuce were Ascaris lumbricoides 6 (37.50%) samples, Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura 3 (18.75%) samples, Hookworm 2 samples (12.50%), and Trichuris trichiura 1 sample (6.25%). The type of STH eggs which contaminated cabbage were Ascaris lumbricoides 2 (12.50%) samples, Trichuris trichiura 1 (6.25%) sample, and Hookworm 1 (6.25%) sample. There were STH contamination on cabbage and lattuce in the traditional market in Jambi city. Key word: Soil Transmitted Helminths, contamination, infection ABSTRAK Penularan infeksi Soil Transmited Helminths (STH) dapat terjadi melalui makanan yang terkontaminasi telur cacing. Jenis makanan yang paling sering terkontaminasi diantaranya adalah kubis dan selada. Penelitian ini bertujuan menemukan kontaminasi telur STH dan mengidentifikasi jenis telur cacing yang mengontaminasi sayur kubis dan selada di pasar tradisional Kota Jambi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang dilakukan di Laboratorium Biomedik Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Jambi pada bulan Juli–Agustus 2018. Sampel sayuran diambil dari tiga pasar tradisional di Kota Jambi yaitu, pasar Talang Banjar, Angso Duo dan Simpang Pulai. Sampel sayuran terdiri atas 9 kubis dan 9 selada dari setiap pasar. Sebanyak 50 gram sampel diperiksa dengan metode sedimentasi. Hasilnya ditemukan telur STH pada 16 (29,6%) sampel sayuran. Pada sayur selada jenis telur yang mengkontaminasi yaitu Ascaris lumbricoides pada 6 (37,50%) sampel, campuran Ascaris lumbricoides dan Trichuris trichiura pada 3 (18,75%) sampel, cacing tambang pada 2 (12,50%) sampel, dan Trichuris trichiura pada 1 (6,25%) sampel. Sedangkan pada sayur kubis jenis telur yang mengkontaminasi yaitu Ascaris lumbricoides pada 2 (12,50%) sampel, Trichuris trichiura pada 1 (6,25%) sampel, dan Cacing tambang pada 1 (6,25%) sampel. Terdapat kontaminasi STH pada sayur kubis dan selada di pasar tradisional kota Jambi. Kata kunci: Soil Transmitted Helminths, kontaminasi, infeksi

Abstract

ABSTRACT Noise is one of the physical hazards that is often found in the work environment, such as machines and tools that can be a source of noise. Noise has various kinds of effects on humans both physically and psychologically. One effect on the physiology is on the heart so that it can increase blood pressure. Using the Cross Sectional Survey method and total sampling in the second and third week of February 2020 with the location in the Oil and Gas Company X in Jambi. Respondents are workers who are in the CPS Area with age ≥ 20 years. The number of respondents was 60 (sixty people). From the results of the study found there were 51.7% with an increase in blood pressure, and 48.3% there was no increase in blood pressure. As many as 53.3% of workers were exposed to more than 85 dBA intensity, 46.7% with intensity ≤ 85 dBA. And as much as 58.3% of workers with a duration of exposure> 8 hours, and 41.7% of workers with a duration of exposure ≤ 8 hours. Chi Square statistical test can explain that there is a relationship between increased blood pressure with noise intensity and there is no significant relationship between duration of exposure with increased blood pressure. Thus it can be planned treatment to deal with the intensity of noise against workers both by optimizing the use of PPE as well as policies in regulating working hours of workers. In subsequent studies to pay more attention to risk factors that can be a confounding variable, and the selection of respondents that is more in line with the research is needed. Keywords: Noise, exposure duration, intensity, blood pressure ABSTRAK Kebisingan merupakan salah satu bahaya fisik yang sering dijumpai dalam lingkungan kerja, seperti mesin yang bisa menjadi sumber kebisingan. Kebisingan mempunyai berbagai macam efek kepada manusia baik secara fisik maupun psikologis. Salah satu efek terhadap fisiologis adalah terhadap jantung yaitu bisa meningkatkan tekanan darah. Dengan menggunakan metoda Survey Cross Sectional dan total sampling, Responden adalah pekerja yang berada di Area CPS dengan usia ≥ 20 tahun. Jumlah responden 60 (enam puluh) orang. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan terdapat 51,7% dengan peningkatan tekanan darah, dan 48,3% tidak ada peningkatan tekanan darah. Sebanyak 53,3% pekerja terpapar lebih dari dengan intensitas > 85 dBA, 46,7% dengan intensitas ≤ 85 dBA. Serta sebanyak 58,3% pekerja dengan lama paparan > 8 Jam, dan 41,7% pekerja dengan lama paparan ≤ 8 Jam . Uji statistik Chi Square dapat menjelaskan bahwa ada hubungan antara peningkatan tekanan darah dengan intensitas kebisingan dan tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara lama paparan dengan peningkatan tekanan darah. Sehingga maka dapat direncanakan penanganan untuk menangani intensitas kebisingan terhadap pekerja baik dengan optimalisasi penggunaan APD maupun kebijakan-kebijakan dalam pengaturan jam kerja pekerja. Pada penelitian selanjutnya untuk lebih memperhatikan faktor-faktor resiko yang bisa menjadi variabel pengganggu, serta diperlukan pemilihan responden yang lebih sesuai dengan penelitian. Abstract

Abstract The incidence of dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) is still a public health problem in Indonesia. Observation since the beginning of the discovering of the desease, has show the increase of the diseases incidence every year. The purpose of this study is to know the diversity of aedes’s mosquito in Pelayangan Jambi. The monitoring of aedes’s mosquito that used ovitrap with fermentation process. The results showed that aedes aegypty were found in ovitrap inside the houses. The results of this study could be use as basic information for the communities to improved environment hygiene thtrough reduced mosquito breeding sites, thus degraded the incidence if dengue. Key word : ovitrap, Aedes sp Abstrak Kejadian Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) masih menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia. Pengamatan sejak awal ditemukannya kasus DBD menyatakan bahwa angka kejadian luar biasa DBD mengalami peningkatan setiap tahun. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan ovitrap dalam memantau keberadaan aedes sp di Kecamatan Pelayangan Kota Jambi. Pemantauan jenis aedes aegypti ini dengan menggunakan ovitrap yang telah di modifikasi dengan proses fermentasi dari gula merah dan ragi yang dapat menarik nyamuk dewasa yang di pasang dalam rumah serta membuniuh nyamuk tersebut. Hasil pengumpulan ovitrap menunjukkan nyamuk aedes aegypti ditemukan pada ovitrap yang di pasang didalam rumah dalam jumlah yang signifikan. Metode ini dapat digunakan sebagai infromasi dasar bagi msayarakat untuk meningkatkan kebersihan lingkungan melalui pengurangan tempat perindukan nyamuk sehingga menurunkan angka kejadian DBD. Abstract

ABSTRAK Jamban merupakan bangunan yang berguna sebagai tempat pembuangan dan pengumpulan tinja yang nantinya terkumpul pada suatu tempat dan tidak mengakibatkan timbulnya berbagai macam penyakit dan pencemaran lingkungan. Desa Sungai Itik merupakan salah satu Desa akses jamban sehat tergolong rendah yaitu hanya 56,78%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kepemilikan jamban sehat di Desa Sungai Itik. Metode penelitian dengan desain Cross Sectional, Populasi sebanyak 120 responden dan sampel sebanyak 120 responden diambil dengan teknik Proporsionate Strafied Random Sampling. Teknik analisis data dengan menggunakan uji statistik chi-square dan variabel status ekonomi menggunakan uji regresi logistic sederhana. Hasil penelitian didapatkan terdapat 56,7% responden yang belum memiliki jamban sehat dan ada hubungan antara pengetahuan (P = 0,000), status ekonomi (P = 0,000), ketersediaan air bersih (P = 0,017) dan peran petugas kesehatan (P = 0,000) terhadap kepemilikan jamban sehat di Desa Sungai Itik. Pengetahuan, status ekonomi, ketersediaan air bersih dan peran petugas kesehatan memiliki hubungan yang signifikan terhadap kepemilikan jamban sehat di Desa Sungai Itik.
