Jurnal ini memuat tulisan yang isinya tidak hanya penting bagi kalangan akademis di lingkungan kampus Universitas Hindu Negeri I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar, tetapi juga bagi masyarakat luas, dalam rangka meningkatkan wawasan dan pengetahuan tentang yoga dan kesehatan. Abstract

Satua I Belog sebagai salah satu jenis sastra klasik yang mengandung nilai-nilai adiluhung yang sangat perlu untuk dikembangkan serta diadakan usaha penelitian dan pengkajian yang lebih intensif agar segala isinya dapat dihayati dan diterapkan di masyarakat. Berdasarkan analisa yang dilakukan, hal yang berkaitan dengan konsepsi yoga salah satunya dapat dilihat dari pengalan cerita pada penggambaran seekor kuda kesayangan raja daha yang galak sehingga tidak ada yang berani kecuali I Belog, maknanya kuda galak diharapkan pikiran manusia dikendalikan atau dikekang dan I Belog sebagai simbol pengendalian pikiran dan pada cerita "tiba-tiba tali pelana kuda tersebut putus dan kuda yang binal lari "Kebancingah" dan membuat onar, tapi I Belog berhasil menangkap dan memasukan kuda tersebut kembali kekandangnya”. Makna penggalan cerita tersebut, kuda tanpa tali pelana bagaikan pikiran tanpa kendali yang menyebabkan manusia terpengaruh oleh berbagai musuh-musuh yang ada dalam diri manusia dan pikiran sebagai pengendali dalam pengendalian.Dari pikiranlah yang memegang peranan penting, pikiran adalah faktor pengendali mengarahkan perbuatan manusia menuju hal-hal baik dan menghindar dari hal-hal buruk, dalam konteks ajaran yoga, pengendalian terhadap pikiran menjadi kunci utama alam pikiran dibangun atas tiga komponen yakni manah, budhi, ahamkara.

Abstract

Pembangunan karakter (character building) adalah suatu proses atau usaha yang dilakukan untuk membina, memperbaiki dan atau membentuk tabiat, watak, sifat kejiwaan, akhlak (budi pekerti), insan manusia (masyarakat) sehingga menunjukkan perangai dan tingkah laku yang baik. Menjadi bagian penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia demi kemajuan suatu bangsa. Keluarga sebagai dasar pendidikan karakter yang pertama dan utama memiliki tugas utama dalam pembentukan karakter anak dan remaja. Baik buruknya suatu hubungan antara suami dan istri, orang tua dan anak, serta anak dengan anak sangat menentukan kesuksesan dari pendidikan karakter di lingkungan terdekatnya yaitu keluarga, terutama dalam menciptakan situasi dan interaksi edukatif pada anak yang diharapkan menjadi putra yang suputra. Permasalahan yang dibahas dalam tulisan ini adalah faktor-faktor penyebab degradasi karakter anak dan manfaat yoga sebagai pembentukan karakter anak. Aktivitas yoga akan menggali potensi diri anak dan remaja yang ikut sehingga mereka bisa menentukan cita-cita sesuai dengan bakat dan minat. Aktivitas yoga yang khusus ditujukan kepada anak-anak dan remaja lebih ditekankan pada aspek etika (yama-niyama) dan tidak menutup bagian astangga yoga keseluruhan sebagai sebuah metode ajaran yang holistik. Jenis penelitiannya adalah penelitian kualitatif melalui pendekatan library research. Pengumpulan data penulis lakukan dengan cara studi pustaka, dokumentasi, baca-simak-catat, dan penelusuran data online. Berdasarkan hasil diketahui, (1) Faktor-faktor penyebab degradasi karakter anak bisa dibagi menjadi 2 faktor yaitu internal dan eksternal; dan (2) Manfaat yoga sebagai pembentukan karakter anak adalah bermanfaat membentuk perilaku suputra kepada keluarga; menumbuhkan rasa cinta kasih; berpenampilan tenang, ceria dan penuh percaya diri; dan meningkatkan introspeksi diri.

Abstract

Cardiorespiratory endurance is a component of physical fitness. Having good cardiorespiratory endurance shows the ability of the respiratory system, circulation system and muscle system to work optimally, so that a person can maintain performance without being accompanied by significant fatigue. Yoga has become a popular intervention in various age groups. The purpose of this study was to summarize and examine the results of research related to the implications of practicing yoga on cardiorespiratory endurance in individuals with a sendentary lifestyle. The research method uses a literature review, where research articles are collected from online databases, namely Google Scholar and Pubmed. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to obtain research articles that were original, relevant to the desired topic, published in the last 10 years, the full text was accessible and the research methods and results were well explained and valid. In total there are only 5 articles that qualify for discussion. In this study, 4 studies showed that there was an effect of giving yoga practice on increasing cardiorespiratory endurance, while 1 study showed no effect, this could be due to insufficient exercise intensity to encourage changes in VO2Max, so further research is still needed on giving yoga to increase in cardiorespiratory endurance, and pay attention the intensity of exercise.

Abstract

Pregnancy causes physical and psychological changes. Changes that occur in pregnant women cause physical discomfort such as back pain, cramps and swelling, as well as psychological changes such as anxiety in facing childbirth. The Covid-19 pandemic condition causes psychological problems for pregnant women such as anxiety to come to health services. One of the interventions that can be done to reduce the complaints, discomfort and anxiety experienced by pregnant women in this new normal era is physical exercise, such as meditation/yoga. Prenatal yoga is believed to be able to reduce physical complaints and anxiety of pregnant woen in the face of childbirth. This study aims to explore the perception of pregnant women about the benefits of prenatal yoga. The research design used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The research location was at PMB Jaba Denpasar, in April 2022. The informants in this study were third trimester pregnant women who did prenatal yoga with a total of 10 people. For data validation, researchers used key informants, namely midwives and husbands of pregnant women. Data processing is carried out through several stages, namely: reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that pregnant women's perceptions of the benefits of prenatal yoga include: 1) Reducing physical complaints; 2) Reduce anxiety; 3) Increase readiness in facing childbirth. It is necessary to improve the implementation of prenatal yoga in the implementation of ANC, so that the benefits can be felt by pregnant women in order to reduce maternal and infant morbidity and mortality.

Abstract

It is undeniably correct that in the process of learning, there will be a stituaiton where the students feel bored with the material. This situation requires treatments which make the boredom disappear and students improve their focus, one of them is yoga icebreaking. The purposes of this study were to find out what kinds of yoga icebreaking and its benefits. Library research was conducted in this study. The sources of the obtained data coming from articles, publications journal and news using technique of documentation. The technique of analysis used contents analysis of literature or articles becoming the source of research data. The results showed that yoga icebreaking has different moves and it does not take long in the class, such as nostril breathing yoga and Lotus pose. The benefits of this yoga icebreaking are to improve students’ focus and to grow students’ character values.

Abstract

Yoga is often combined with other types of therapy to maximize the patient's treatment. Combinations of yoga and herbs is one of the possible combinations. This study aims to summarize and review research results related to the combination of yoga and herbs. Research articles are collected from various online databases such as Google Scholar, Google, Medline, Pubmed, and Science Direct. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to obtain clinical research articles that were original, relevant to the topic of interest, published in the last 10 years, full text accessible, also methods and results were described well and valid. In total there are only 5 articles that qualify for discussion. The research was conducted in Indonesia and India. The herbs were used in inhalation and oral forms. Indications for the use of a combination of yoga and herbs are reducing dismenorrhea pain, cronic joint pain, helping treat type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and improving sleep quality. The combination of yoga and herbs is still not widely applied and studied. It opens up great opportunities for further research.

Abstract

The development of the world of health with the use of drugs continues to increase by developing new biosyntheses from natural materials. One of the plants being explored was the bodhi plant (Ficus religiosa Linn.) through phytochemical testing and the total flavonoid content of ethanol extracts and their relevance to the Ayurvedic literature. This research uses Mixed Methods Sequential Exploratory Qualitative and Quantitative experimental laboratory with post test only control group design. The process of collecting data through observation, laboratory test results, and literature studies. Bodhi leaf samples were selected and determined for the experimental group. The initial stage is the extraction process using the maceration method using a technical 96% ethanol solvent. Next, phytochemical testing was carried out with the addition of reagents. Determination of total flavonoid content was carried out by the UV-vis spectrophotometer method using quercetin as the standard. The results of the phytochemical test showed that the ethanolic extract of the leaves of the bodhi plant was positive for bioactive alkaloids, flavonoids, and steroids, so further testing was carried out on total flavonoid levels and analyzed by linear regression equations with Microsoft office excel. The straight line equation shows that Y = 0.0064x – 0.0003 with a correlation coefficient (R2) of 0. 9825. The total flavonoid content is 13.61 ± 3.26 mg/g. Through this analysis, conventional medical uses or indications indicate that flavonoids are useful as antioxidants with their mechanism of counteracting free radicals so that they are effective as prevention and treatment of a disease. This is relevant when it comes to Ayurveda. Indications in Ayurveda state that the main indication of bodhhi is rejuvenation. This is also discussed in the Hindu religious book (Veda) called Rasayana tantra.

Abstract

Life Satisfaction can be felt by everyone, including a woman in assistance as a housewife. The role of a woman in life is very complex. In increasing life satisfaction, women in the role of housewives can carry out various activities that can support improving the quality of life as currently being discussed, namely the practice of meditation. One of the places to practice yoga and meditation in Bali, namely Wisuda Yoga, Klungkung Regency, has a healing process that is focused on medical practices that lead to the healing process in order to achieve life satisfaction.This study aims to determine the stages of the practice of forgiveness and its effect on the life satisfaction of housewives at Wisuda Yoga, Klungkung Regency. This research lasted for one month. This type of research is a quantitative study, using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-post-test design. The total population is 30 people. The sample in this study collected 28 respondents aged 24 to 44 years, this number of samples used the formulation of Isaac and Michael with an error rate of 5%. The statistical test results in this study were 0.000 which proved that there was a justifiable effect on the life satisfaction of housewives at Wisuda Yoga, Klungkung Regency. The results of the effective test also provide reinforcement regarding the results of this study because the effect size obtained is 0.88, which indicates that the practice of agreeing provides great effectiveness for increasing life satisfaction for housewives at Wisuda Yoga Klungkung Regency.

Abstract

The implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java and Bali as well as other areas in Indonesia that were detected as red zone areas have caused various pros and cons in the community. The implementation of this policy is considered risky because it indirectly causes the community's economic growth to be weak, especially in the area of the island of Bali where the community's source of income comes from the tourism sector. This condition causes not a few Balinese people to experience psychological pressure due to the pressure of high needs while not commensurate with the income they receive. Due to heavy psychological pressure, many Balinese people experience stress and this condition is known as psychosocial stress. Refers to the view of Hinduism this kind of condition can be resolved through the practice of meditation. This study will attempt to discuss the role of meditation as an alternative to handling psychosocial stress in Balinese society during PPKM, which was formulated through several discussions. The discussion includes an understanding of meditation, Balinese psychosocial stress during the Emergency PPKM period, and meditation as an alternative to handling Balinese psychosocial stress during the PPKM period. The method that the researcher uses is descriptive qualitative by collecting, displaying, and analyzing the data that has been obtained based on the document study. As a result, researchers found that meditation can reduce the stress level of Balinese people affected by the Java-Bali Emergency PPKM policy.

Abstract

The Dharma Pātañjala text is a text that formulates Yoga teachings which are similar to the teachings of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Ananda Marga Yoga as one of the Yoga schools in Bali which is still implementing Yoga teachings known as Rajadhiraja Yoga. The discussion in this study is the structure of Yoga teachings in the Dharma Pātañjala text, the implementation of Yoga teachings in the Dharma Pātañjala text at Ananda Marga Yoga colleges, and the implications of Yoga teachings in the Dharma Pātañjala text for the Ananda Marga Yoga school. This study uses the theory of structure, hermeneutics, symbolic interactionism, and the theory of reciprocity. The results of the study include the structure of the teachings of Yoga in the Dharma Pātañjala text explained about Samādhi, Yoga levels, Japa Pranava OṀ, obstacles that will be encountered by Yogis, Panca Kleśa, Prayogasandhi or Aṣṭāṅga Yoga consisting of Yama, Niyama, sana, Pratyāhāra, Prāṇāyāma, Dhāraṇā, Dhyāna, and Samādhi and Samyaṁa techniques. The implementation of the Yoga teachings contained in the Dharma Pātañjala text and carried out at the Ananda Marga Yoga school is a system of Yoga teachings known as Rajadhiraja Yoga. Rajadhiraja Yoga is an extension of the ancient Raja Yoga system or Aṣṭāṅga Yoga. As well as the implications of Yoga teachings that are useful for improving health, increasing spiritual awareness and intelligence, maintaining harmony in life, and self-control systems.
