Abstract

Kampung Batik Okra Surabaya is one of the new tourist destinations in Surabaya. As a new tourism product, the people of Kampung Batik Okra still need assistance in developing Kampung Batik Okra as a tourist destination for the city of Surabaya in terms of the image or brand of Kampung Batik Okra as a tourism product in the city of Surabaya and its promotion. Seeing this opportunity, Team from UPN Veterans East Java seeks to provide knowledge transfer in the form of how to improve the image or brand of Kampung Batik Okra through an e-branding strategy as strengthening existence and reaching a wider tourist market, using social media as a promotional event and compiling product catalogs for map production capabilities and market demand. This transfer of knowledge is a step towards realizing tourist destinations that have marketability by highlighting the uniqueness, beauty, authenticity, and value of tourist destinations in a sustainable manner through sustainable tourism. The purpose of this community service activity is to improve the image or brand of Kampung Batik Okra Surabaya to become widely known through cataloging or pamphlets, photo and videographic training and promotion and branding by using social media as a form of strengthening the existence of Kampung Batik Okra through e-branding. The results of this community service apart from transferring knowledge are also producing pamphlets and catalogs of tourism products as a means of promotion for Kampung Batik Okra Surabaya.

Abstract

The ability to speak English in today's digital era has become a must for everyone to be able to survive in global competition. For this reason, the team from the Faculty of Languages and Arts, University of HKBP Nommensen Medan, provided training to the young people of the HKBP Martubung church to develop their English language skills and their application in singing techniques. In this training, the method used is interactive question-and-answer discussions and lectures to increase the motivation and participation of participants in each activity. Based on the results of the learning evaluation obtained by the Language and Arts Faculty team, there was a good change and an increase from the first month of training to the end of this activity. All participants were very enthusiastic about showing their ability to sing in English, although there were still some children who seemed reluctant to show their abilities in singing. Given the limited time available, it is hoped that the intensity of training like this can be carried out regularly so that the motivation and desire to learn among young people can continue to be developed in order to gain better skills.

Abstract

Pineapple fruit is a fruit that has distinctive characteristics ranging from aroma, color and shape. This fruit contains many nutrients that are beneficial to the body including bromyelin, vitamin C and other nutrients. This community service activity aims to improve the community's ability to utilize local food ingredients that have the potential to increase village superior products. The problem faced by Sajad Village is that there are frequent losses because agricultural products from pineapples tend to have lower prices to be sold to the market, besides that this loss also causes the motivation of the farmers to decrease. The preparations made in this activity are pineapple syrup, pineapple jam and shredded pineapple and packaging is done on preparations that have been processed. The method used in this community service is through outreach and training. After the training process was completed, each team evaluated the preparations that had been made and the testers were given the opportunity to give their opinion. Based on the activities that have been carried out, the community in Sajad Village, Sambas Regency, is satisfied and helped by the preparations that have been carried out. Another result that can be seen is that participants begin to understand that pineapple has many derivative preparations that can be utilized and are aware of the advantages of consuming pineapple.

Abstract

Communication is a process that is able to explain who the actors are, what the message is, what channels are used and to whom the message is delivered. Then one type of communication we know is public communication, one example of public communication or also often called public speaking. In the discipline of communication, public speaking is one of the studies. Why do you need to study and know public speaking? Because public speaking is the art of speaking. This Community Service activity was carried out at TPQ Baiturrahmah. As for the content of this Community Service seminar, the theme is Public Speaking Strategy to become a reliable communicator for the management of TPQ Baiturrahmah. This theme was taken to see that public abilities and skills are still not possessed by ordinary people who do not have the opportunity to study formally in an educational environment. The results of holding the Community Service seminar are a form of activity for lecturers carrying out one of the academic responsibilities of higher education to the management of TPQ Baiturrahmah. It is hoped that they will be able to contribute regarding their skills in carrying out public communication. The service method consists of various kinds of preparation before activities, implementation of activities to evaluation activities. The results obtained from this activity provide participant and partner satisfaction where not only knowledge but also public speaking skills are gained.

Abstract

The method of cultivating mud crabs in Kajuara Village is still carried out traditionally and uses natural food, thus affecting the production of crabs which are not uniform in terms of size and weight. Apart from that, there is still a lack of partner knowledge regarding the behavior and habits of mud crabs as well as appropriate methods for cultivating mud crabs. The aim of this service is to increase the knowledge and skills of cultivators in cultivating mud crabs using crab boxes. The stages of implementing service activities include: 1) Survey and interview stage, 2) preparation stage, 3) implementation stage and 4) evaluation stage. Based on the achievements of the service activities, participants have knowledge and skills in the mud crab cultivation method using a crab box.

Abstract

The government is trying and encouraging people to be independent in maintaining and maintaining health, one of which is by using family medicinal plants (TOGA). Government Regulation Number 103 of 2014 concerning Traditional Health Services in article 70 states that people can carry out health care independently and correctly by utilizing Family Medicine Parks (TOGA) and Skills. This service was carried out with the aim of increasing the knowledge and skills of Wonosamodra Boyolali health center health cadres regarding the management and use of TOGA to maintain family health. The approach method is through training and workshops to process TOGA into a health drink for families. Service participants are health cadres in the Wonosamodra Community Health Center working area, Boyolali. Service activities include providing material about TOGA and training in making health drinks from TOGA basic ingredients. The success of this service activity can be seen from the enthusiasm of the training participants in participating in the training as well as the ability/skills of the training participants in making health drink preparations, namely instant ginger powder and the health drink "Jaeka Manis". The service carried out was able to increase the knowledge and skills of health cadres in the Wonosamodra Boyolali Community Health Center working area regarding the Management and Processing of TOGA (Family Medicinal Plants) into family health drinks.

Abstract

Climate change, which is increasingly erratic, is a natural phenomenon that needs to be addressed. It is this kind of fact that should invite all parties to how to respond to such natural phenomena, especially the government as an agent of service and development. In line with such climate change, innovation in ecosystems in various aspects of human life has to be increasingly eroded and one of them is the threat to the sea. One of the alternatives for preserving marine ecosystems is innovation in sea reforestation. Mangrove which is a marine plant as a retention barrier for the potential for sand to erode and prevent abrasion is one of the superior alternatives. Mangrove forest ecosystem is an important habitat for biodiversity and as a coast guard from abrasion. This activity aims to increase public awareness about the importance of mangroves in preventing abrasion, especially in Meko Hamlet. This activity involved all village officials, youth youth organizations and residents of Meko Hamlet and MBKM students. In general, this activity went smoothly and was attended with quite high enthusiasm. It is hoped that with this activity, the community can understand and take advantage of the great benefits possessed by mangroves and prevent villages from abrasion. Mangrove planting as a prevention effort is an option that can be offered to Meko beach conservation, Pledo Village, Witihama District – East Adonara.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem caused by prolonged insufficient intake of nutrients due to inappropriate feeding practices over an extended period. Based on interviews with community health workers and mothers of toddlers in the Karanganyar area, the high prevalence of stunting is suspected to be due to the lack of understanding among the community regarding the importance of nutrition for child growth and development. Therefore, a solution that can be pursued involves the creation of locally sourced complementary feeding (MPASI) that is economically friendly yet rich in nutritional content, through the introduction of the Stunting Alert Kitchen (Dapur Hidup Siaga Stunting) using the budikdamber method and chaya cultivation. The implementation of this solution includes Focus Group Discussions (FGD), Stunting Alert Kitchen training and practice sessions for budikdamber and chaya cultivation, as well as guidance, monitoring, and evaluation. The outcomes of these activities include enthusiastic participation from the attendees. The sessions began with an introduction to chaya cultivation. Cultivating chaya plants is relatively simple as they do not require special treatment. Growing chaya in household gardens can support the household's food security by providing nutritious vegetables, enhancing overall health, and ensuring optimal nutritional intake. The subsequent activity involved budikdamber training. The advantage of budikdamber is its ability to serve as a means of fish cultivation in buckets without the need for pond space. It also allows for hydroponic cultivation of vegetables, which piqued the interest of mothers of toddlers.

Abstract

Borax and formalin are chemicals that are prohibited by law as food additives. Borax and formalin contain preservatives that are harmful to the body. There are many uses of borax and formalin in processed food circulating in the community so students must be more careful in choosing healthy foods. This socialization aims to increase students’ knowledge about the dangers of borax and formaldehyde and to be more careful in choosing food. The activity was carried out at Tebas 3 Public Middle School, on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. The socialization method used in this activity focused on communication, information, and education activities. The result of this socialization is that students become more careful in choosing nutritious foods and know the characteristics of foods that contain borax and formalin. Tebas 3 Public Middle School students who are in their teens need a balanced nutritional intake and must consume healthy and nutritious food so that the socialization of the dangers of borax and formalin can increase the knowledge, concern, and understanding of these students

Abstract

Higher education has a noble task, namely disseminating science and technology and cultural arts to all citizens with personal and institutional references to the principles of scientific methodology. Community capabilities need to be developed from various social strata by conveying the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which is the main task of lecturers, this is a form of effort from universities to accelerate competitiveness to encourage the realization of government programs in national development. This community service activity is in collaboration with partners, namely high school and vocational schools (SMA / K) in Samarinda. The target of this program is to introduce and disseminate laboratory-based processing of plantation commodities at the Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic (PPNS) campus. From the results of observations in the field, there are still many high school / vocational students in Samarinda who are still not familiar with the processing technology of plantation commodities and the processing process and analysis techniques. The method of this activity is the delivery of material directly (lectures), discussion and deepening of the material by means of questions and answers, as well as simulation of laboratory-scale plantation commodity processing technology. The result of the implementation of this service is an increase in students' knowledge regarding plantation commodity processing technology and the students involved in this activity are able to master plantation commodity processing technology.
