Abstract

Local culture plays an important role in maintaining ecosystem balance and environmental sustainability. This research aims to identify the local culture of the people of Kampung Bulakan that contribute to the preservation of the Gunung Tukung Gede Nature Reserve. The research method uses a qualitative approach through the ethnographic method, which is by studying human behavior, such as the customs and habits of the community in a certain place. This method is carried out through in-depth interviews with community leaders and local residents, as well as observations of the surrounding environment to gain an understanding from the perspective of the local community. The results of the study showed four main forms of local culture, namely the existence of the Tiger Monument, the prohibition of breaking tree branches with hands, the prohibition of activities outside the house after 22.00, and the tradition of stirring. This practice functions to prevent vegetation damage, preserve 167 types of flora with an average density of 310 trees per hectare, and maintain the habitat of the Javan leopard (Panthera pardus melas). In conclusion, the local culture of Kampung Bulakan is an effective and relevant community-based conservation strategy to continue to be preserved.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of tilapia scale waste as a basic material for making nail art accessories that have economic and environmentally friendly value. The research was carried out at Nail's By Valeta, Pakintelan, Gunung Pati District, Semarang City using a quantitative descriptive approach through the experimental one-shot case study method. The test was carried out through two stages, namely the product validity test by three expert judgments and the preference test by 30 trained respondents. The results of the validity test showed that nail art accessories products obtained an average score of 94.3% with the category "very valid". This is because almost all aspects of the assessment starting from shape, neatness, strength, color, and finish have met the standards set by the validator. Meanwhile, the results of the liking test obtained an average score of 96% with the category "Very Like", this is because almost all aspects of the assessment ranging from shape, strength, aesthetics, neatness, convenience, and final results have met the standards set by the respondents. These results prove that tilapia scales are suitable for use as an alternative material for making aesthetically attractive nail art accessories, easy to apply, and in accordance with beauty industry trends based on eco-friendly and sustainability. Thus, the use of tilapia scale waste has the potential to become an innovation in beauty products with high selling value while supporting the reduction of environmental waste.

Abstract

Toponymy or the study of historical traces and cultural meanings of Wilamaci Village and Tolotangga Village in Monta District, Bima Regency. One of the fundamental elements in the construction of a special identity and culture of a society. More than just a geographical label on a map, each toponym contains a collective narrative, traces of civilization, and a reflection of the worldview of the community that named it, and functions as a linguistic artifact that not only marks a physical location, but also stores a wealth of historical information passed down from generation to generation. The objectives of this study are: 1) to analyze the linguistic origins and lexical meanings of the names of Wilamaci Village and Tolotangga Village; 2) to reveal historical traces, including important events, influential figures, or migration dynamics reflected in their names; and 3) to analyze the cultural meanings contained therein, including community values, belief systems, and local folklore. This study uses an ethnolinguistic approach with a qualitative descriptive method through long-distance interviews and document studies. The research results show that both toponyms are rooted in local terms describing past natural conditions and social activities. Furthermore, the names Wilamaci and Tolotangga represent traces of early migration groups and cultural symbols still maintained by the Bima people today. These findings enrich the study of toponymy and anthropolinguistics and contribute to the preservation of regional cultural identity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze air quality in areas affected by industrial and nickel mining activities using Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring tools. The research used a quantitative descriptive method with a field study approach, which was carried out in two locations with different characteristics, namely the Tambea Village Office as an area far from the mining area and the Sangia Nibandera Kolaka Meteorological Station (BMKG Kolaka) which is located near the nickel mining industrial area. The monitoring system is designed using an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with an MQ-135 sensor to detect polluting gases, a DHT11 sensor to measure temperature and humidity, and is equipped with a buzzer and OLED display. Data is sent in real-time through the Blynk app. The measurement results showed that the air quality in Tambea Village was mostly in the "Good" category, while BMKG Kolaka showed more varied values, especially from noon to evening, which were in the "Moderate" to "Poor" category. These findings suggest that proximity to mining activities significantly affects the concentration of pollutants in the air. IoT-based monitoring systems have proven to be effective as real-time air quality monitoring devices in areas with potential for pollution.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the role of language in representing the cultural values and social structure of the Sasak community through an analysis of the lingual forms used in the merariq tradition. Based on an anthropological linguistic approach, this study uses a qualitative method with observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation of merariq ritual practices in several Sasak communities in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Data were analyzed using the intralingual matching method with the link-comparison technique to find the relationship between language structure and cultural meaning. The results of the study identified 41 lingual forms classified into six main domains, namely: mbait, beselabar, bekawin, berejap, begawe, and rebaq jengkis. Each domain depicts the stages of the traditional procession that represent the values of courage, sacredness, solidarity, honor, and social integration. Language in the merariq tradition functions not only as a means of communication, but also as a symbolic medium that strengthens the value system, social legitimacy, and cultural identity of the Sasak people. These findings reinforce the theory of Mahsun (2024), Duranti (1997), and Geertz (1973) that language is a cultural practice that shapes collective social consciousness. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of the study of anthropological linguistics in Indonesia, while practically supporting efforts to preserve ritual languages and local oral traditions. Further research is suggested to explore dialectic variation and cross-cultural comparisons to broaden understanding of the relationship between language, culture, and identity.

Abstract

Balantidium sp. is a protozoan that can cause balantidiosis, a disease that affects humans and animals. Balantidium coli is part of the normal intestinal flora of domestic and wild pigs. This infection can cause significant economic losses to the pig farming industry, such as livestock mortality, decreased production, and obstacles in the export trade of animal products. This study aims to detect the presence of Balantidium sp. in domestic pigs in Jagaraga Village, Kuripan District, West Lombok Regency. This study is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. A total of 30 fresh fecal samples were analyzed using the flotation method and native methods. The results showed 8 positive samples of Balantidium sp., consisting of 6 samples of the cyst stage and 2 samples of the trophozoite stage. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that pig feces in Jagaraga Village detected Balantidium sp. with cyst and trophozoite stages with a prevalence of 26.6% of 30 samples.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs in the development of E-LKPD based on the Deep Learning approach in mathematics learning for students of SDN 45 Bengkulu City, where the challenges in mathematics lessons are mainly found in the low critical thinking skills of students in elementary school. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages, namely: analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. However, in this study, it only used the analysis stage and also through interviews with classroom teachers. Data was collected through a questionnaire involving 17 students and classroom teachers to get students' perceptions of the importance of critical thinking skills and teaching materials, especially LKPD available in schools. The results of the study show that there is a gap in the quality and relevance of teaching materials, especially LKPD, as well as the need for additional teaching materials, especially in student worksheets that are responsive to the needs of students who are very important in mathematics lessons, as well as creating students who are more in-depth in understanding mathematics lessons.

Abstract

Malnutrition remains a significant public health problem in developing countries, including Indonesia. In addition to stunting that has received a lot of attention, the problem of underweight nutrition in toddlers still requires serious studies and interventions. This study aims to model the nonlinear relationship between age and weight of toddlers, as well as identify factors that affect the incidence of underweight in West Lombok Regency. The semiparametric approach is used by applying piecewise polynomial regression and truncated splines with variations in polynomial orders and number of node points. The research data included toddler weight as a response variable, as well as 22 predictor variables representing the child's health condition, maternal characteristics, feeding practices, and household sanitation. The selection of the best model is made based on the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) criteria. The results of the analysis showed that the two-order piecewise polynomial model with four knots was the best model, indicated by the lowest AIC value and the coefficient of determination (R²) of 97%. These findings indicate that the problem of underweight in toddlers is complex and multidimensional, requiring an integrated intervention approach across sectors. The semiparametric approach has been shown to be effective in capturing the growth patterns of toddlers that are not linear and dynamic.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the results of the differences between liquid nail glue and gel nail glue based on the effectiveness of their use. The method used was direct observation by conducting experiments on several commercial products, accompanied by simple testing on the ease of application, adhesion, and durability of the results of use in four female participants. The results showed that although liquid nail glue has a smaller packaging and a thinner texture making it easy to apply, its adhesion tends to be lower and less durable. In contrast, gel nail glue that is generally packaged in larger containers with a thicker consistency has been shown to provide stronger adhesion as well as higher resistance to the nails. This study aims to analyze the difference between liquid nail glue and gel nail glue in its application to gel press-on nails, by reviewing the packaging shape, product size, and adhesion effectiveness. This research is simple experimental/comparative. Observations were made through direct application tests using several types of press-on nails. The results show that liquid glue, although easy to apply, tends to be less stable on the surface of the press-on gel and comes off more quickly. In contrast, gel nail glue with its thick texture provides stronger adhesion and is able to maintain press-on nails longer, even at intensive daily activities. Therefore, gel glue is considered much more effective and is recommended as the main choice for gel press-on nail installation.
