Abstract

SOCIALIZATION AND EDUCATION OF HERBAL MEDICINE AT SIRNAPUTRA TASIKMALAYA. Plants have been used as a source of food, clothing, and medicine from the time of our ancestors. Knowledge of medicinal plants and their evolution from forests and yards should receive special consideration. For rural communities to maintain their health, locals often choose this nutrient-rich plant. The benefits include the fact that therapeutic plants are chemical-free, affordable, simple to grow, and safe. The problem is the lack of public knowledge about the benefits and how to mobilize medicinal plants so that land use for TOGA is still rarely found. Based on these problems, the solution offered is in the form of socialization and education activities about family medicinal plants. The activities that have been carried out, can increase the insight and knowledge of the community in the use of plants as medicine and how to use them.

Abstract

INCREASED KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CLEAN AND HEALTHY LIVING BEHAVIORS AND THE PRACTICE OF WASHING HANDS WITH SOAP DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC PANDEGLANG REGENCY. The rate of implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors in the community remains low due to the low level of socialization associated with the benefits and risks of not implementing clean and healthy living behaviors in daily life. Public health is disrupted due to the low level of socialization of clean and healthy lifestyles and the low willingness of the community to implement these lifestyles. This non-profit service is designed to enable communities to improve, protect and maintain health by making them aware, willing and able to actively participate in implementing clean and healthy living behaviors in their daily lives. This non-profit approach uses consultation to raise public awareness of clean, healthy lifestyles and handwashing techniques with soap. This event takes place in Kubang Kondang Village. The outcome of community service is knowledge growth after consultation, and there is a need to further improve communication, information and education (IEC) activities by involving more people to increase knowledge and attitudes about clean and healthy living and to improve handwashing.

COMPOSTING TRAINING FOR YOUTH AT RAUDHATUL ISLAMIYAH MOSQUE KUBU RAYA REGENCY. Youth of Raudhatul Islamiyah Mosque is one of the youth Muslim organizations who live in Central Java Village, Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency. Even though they are based on Islam, mosque youth are not only engaged in religious activities. Several activities have been carried out at that location and the participation of the youth of the mosque is very good, this is proven by the well-maintained tools that have been given and the routine activities that are carried out in mutual cooperation. In previous activities, community services were also carried out in the form of socializing the sorting of organic and inorganic waste and providing composting tools on a small scale, but the interest of mosque youth in processing waste, especially organic waste, needs to be facilitated. In this activity, socialization and training on composting were carried out, as well as the provision of composting equipment on a large scale. Mosque youth are actively involved in socialization and training activities. After the socialization, training, and mentoring activities, it is hoped that the youth of the mosque can develop the knowledge that has been obtained for a wider scope and can be applied in their respective neighborhoods so as to reduce the volume of organic waste.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to empower the participants to incorporate culture and interculturality in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction. The cultural material focuses are on the teaching of diverse cultures and the reflection on the local culture. Thirteen (13) high school and university English teachers from North Sulawesi Province joined this online activity using a Zoom platform on July 13, 2022. This session is comprised of 1). the author’s presentation about culture, its aspects and objectives of teaching culture, 2). some tasks for the participants, and 3). a group discussion on how to incorporate cultural materials in their EFL instruction. By the end of the session, the participants shared the group discussion results, and the session was ended with questions and answers. Overall, this webinar was successful. But if this kind of activity will be conducted again, the participants should be guided more on developing international culture besides the local culture. It will also be better if this activity is conducted in two separate sessions instead of one session only, so that the participants could have enough time to do the task and revise their work after getting feedback from their peers and instructor.
