Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and social support and academic stress tendency among out-of-town students in Surabaya. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants consisted of 110 out-of-town students who were currently enrolled in higher education institutions in Surabaya and were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were the academic stress tendency scale, the self-efficacy scale, and the social support scale. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicated that self-efficacy and social support simultaneously had a significant effect on academic stress tendency, with an obtained value of R = 0.783; F = 84.586 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.01). Partially, self-efficacy showed a significant negative relationship with academic stress tendency, whereas social support did not show a significant relationship with academic stress tendency. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-efficacy dan dukungan sosial dengan kecenderungan stres akademik pada mahasiswa rantau di Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 110 mahasiswa rantau yang sedang menempuh pendidikan di perguruan tinggi di Surabaya dan dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah skala kecenderungan stres akademik, skala self-efficacy, dan skala dukungan sosial. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teknik regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan self-efficacy dan dukungan sosial memiliki pengaruh secara simultan terhadap kecenderungan stres akademik dengan diperoleh nilai R=0,783; F=84,586 dengan signifikansi 0,000 (p<0,01). Secara parsial, self-efficacy memiliki hubungan negatif yang signifikan dengan kecenderungan stres akademik, sedangkan dukungan sosial tidak memiliki hubungan signifikan dengan kecenderungan stres akademik.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the relationship between social anxiety and self presentation among emerging adults who use second Instagram accounts. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The participants consisted of 109 individuals aged 18–25 years residing in Surabaya. Data were collected using a self presentation scale based on the theoretical framework of Yang and Brown (2015), which demonstrated a reliability coefficient of α = 0.952, and a social anxiety scale developed based on the concept proposed by Leary and Kowalski (1995) with a reliability coefficient of α = 0.853. Data analysis was conducted using simple regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The results indicated a positive and significant relationship between social anxiety and self presentation (F = 60.505; p < 0.05; β = 0.601). Social anxiety contributed 36.1% to the variance in self presentation behavior. These findings suggest that higher levels of social anxiety are associated with a stronger tendency for individuals to engage in self presentation through second Instagram accounts as a safer space for self-expression with a more limited audience. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara kecemasan sosial dan self presentation pada individu dewasa awal yang menggunakan second account Instagram. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Partisipan penelitian berjumlah 109 orang berusia 18–25 tahun yang berdomisili di Surabaya. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi skala self presentation yang disusun berdasarkan kerangka teori Yang dan Brown (2015) dengan koefisien reliabilitas sebesar α = 0,952, serta skala kecemasan sosial yang mengacu pada konsep Leary dan Kowalski (1995) dengan reliabilitas α = 0,853. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teknik regresi sederhana dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS versi 25. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kecemasan sosial dan self presentation (F = 60,505; p < 0,05; β = 0,601). Kecemasan sosial memberikan kontribusi sebesar 36,1% terhadap variasi perilaku self presentation. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kecemasan sosial berkaitan dengan semakin kuatnya kecenderungan individu melakukan self presentation melalui second account Instagram sebagai ruang ekspresi yang lebih aman dengan jangkauan audiens yang terbatas.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the relationship between Parent-Child Relationship and family socioeconomic status with Digital Parenting Awareness among Generation Z parents in Surabaya. The research employed a quantitative correlational approach using purposive sampling, involving 297 Gen Z parents with children. Data were collected through the Digital Parenting Awareness scale, Parent-Child Relationship scale, and Kuppuswamy Scale to measure family socioeconomic status. Data analysis utilized Pearson correlation test and Kruskal-Wallis test. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between parent-child relationship and digital parenting awareness (r = 0.456; p < 0.001), indicating that better Parent-Child Relationship quality is associated with higher levels of Digital Parenting Awareness. Conversely, no significant relationship was found between Family Socioeconomic Status and Digital Parenting Awareness (p = 0.934; p > 0.05). These findings suggest that digital parenting awareness is more influenced by the quality of emotional Parent-Child Relationships than by family economic factors. The practical implication of this study highlights the importance of strengthening parent-child communication and closeness to enhance awareness of parenting in the digital era. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Parent-Child Relationship dan status sosial ekonomi keluarga dengan digital parenting awareness pada orang tua Generasi Z di Surabaya. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional dengan teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling terhadap 297 orang tua Gen Z yang memiliki anak. Data dikumpulkan melalui skala Digital Parenting Awareness, skala Parent-Child Relationship, dan Skala Kuppuswamy untuk mengukur Status Sosial Ekonomi Keluarga. Analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson dan uji Kruskal-Wallis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif signifikan antara Parent-Child Relationship dengan digital parenting awareness (r = 0,456; p < 0,001), yang berarti semakin baik kualitas hubungan orang tua-anak, semakin tinggi tingkat kesadaran pengasuhan digital. Sebaliknya, tidak terdapat hubungan signifikan antara status sosial ekonomi keluarga dengan digital parenting awareness (p = 0,934; p > 0,05). Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa digital parenting awareness lebih dipengaruhi oleh kualitas relasi emosional orang tua-anak daripada faktor ekonomi keluarga. Implikasi praktis dari penelitian ini adalah pentingnya penguatan komunikasi dan kedekatan orang tua-anak untuk meningkatkan kesadaran pengasuhan di era digital.

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to examine the relationship between anxiety and emotion regulation with emotional eating among final-year students. A quantitative correlational design was employed with a sample of 111 final-year students from one public and one private university in Surabaya, selected using purposive sampling, with the sample size determined through an a priori analysis using G*Power. The instruments used were the Anxiety Scale, the modified Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, and the modified Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that anxiety and emotion regulation were simultaneously significantly associated with emotional eating (F = 28.868; R² = 0.348). Partially, anxiety was positively associated (t = 2.365; p = 0.010), whereas emotion regulation was negatively associated with emotional eating (t = −3.067; p = 0.003). These findings highlight the importance of anxiety management and strengthening emotion regulation. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kecemasan dan regulasi emosi dengan emotional eating pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Penelitian menggunakan desain kuantitatif korelasional dengan sampel 111 mahasiswa tingkat akhir dari satu universitas negeri dan satu universitas swasta di Surabaya yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling, dengan jumlah sampel ditentukan melalui analisis a priori menggunakan program G*Power. Instrumen penelitian meliputi Skala Kecemasan, Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, dan Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire yang telah dimodifikasi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecemasan dan regulasi emosi secara simultan berhubungan signifikan dengan emotional eating (F = 28,868; R² = 0,348). Secara parsial, kecemasan berhubungan positif dengan emotional eating (t = 2,365; p = 0,010) dan regulasi emosi berhubungan negatif dengan emotional eating (t = −3,067; p = 0,003). Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya pengelolaan kecemasan dan regulasi emosi.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the relationship between loneliness and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) among migrant Generation Z individuals. The study involved 140 Generation Z participants who were born between 2000-2012 and had migrant status in Surabaya. Data were collected using the UCLA Loneliness Scale and a Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) scale developed by the researcher based on relevant indicators. Data analysis using Spearman’s rho correlation yielded a correlation coefficient of r = 0.855 with a significance value of p = 0.000, indicating a positive and significant relationship between loneliness and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). This finding suggests that higher levels of loneliness are associated with higher levels of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) among migrant Generation Z individuals in Surabaya. Conversely, lower levels of loneliness are associated with lower levels of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) among migrant Generation Z individuals in Surabaya. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Loneliness dengan Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) pada generasi Z perantau. . Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional. Subjek penelitian berjumlah generasi Z yang kelahiran tahun 2000-2012 dan berstatus perantau di Surabaya. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan skala UCLA Loneliness Scale dan skala Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti berdasarkan indikator. Analisis pada penelitian menggunakan korelasi Spearman’s rho menghasilkan nilai koefisien r = 0,855 dengan signifikansi p = 0,000 yang menunjukkan terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara Loneliness dengan Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO). Artinya, semakin tinggi loneliness maka semakin tinggi Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) pada generasi Z perantau di Surabaya. Sebaliknya, semakin rendah loneliness maka semakin rendah Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) pada generasi Z perantau di Surabaya.

Abstract

Abstract Emotional eating is an eating behavior that often occurs as a response to psychological stress. In late adolescence, various academic demands and self-control are thought to play a role in the emergence of this behavior. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-control and academic stress and emotional eating in late adolescents in Surabaya. This study used a quantitative correlational approach, with 138 late adolescent respondents in Surabaya. The sampling technique used was incidental sampling, with 138 late adolescent participants from various areas in Surabaya. The research instruments consisted of an emotional eating scale, a self-control scale, and an academic stress scale. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS. The results of the study showed that there was a significant positive relationship between self-control and academic stress with emotional eating (F = 23.570; p < 0.05). These two variables together contribute 25.9% to the tendency towards emotional eating behavior, while the remainder is influenced by other factors. Abstrak Emotional eating merupakan perilaku makan yang sering muncul sebagai respons terhadap tekanan psikologis. Pada remaja akhir, berbagai tuntutan akademik dan kemampuan pengendalian diri diduga berperan dalam munculnya perilaku tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-control dan stress akademik dengan emotional eating pada remaja akhir di Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 138 responden remaja akhir di Surabaya. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah incidental sampling dengan jumlah partisipan sebanyak 138 remaja akhir dari berbagai daerah di Surabaya. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari skala emotional eating, skala self-control, dan skala stres akademik. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan analisis regresi linier berganda dengan bantuan program SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara self-control dan stres akademik dengan emotional eating (F = 23,570; p < 0,05). Kedua variabel tersebut secara bersama-sama memberikan kontribusi sebesar 25,9% terhadap kecenderungan perilaku emotional eating, sedangkan sisanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain.

Abstract

Abstract The era of globalization has intensified competition in the business world, leading to rapid and unpredictable changes in the business and organizational environment. Human resources (HR) play a crucial role in every organization, both in the public and private sectors. PT Bina Area Persada is a company engaged in outsourcing or labor supply services, located in Surabaya, East Java. This study aims to examine the relationship between organizational commitment and employee performance at PT Bina Area Persada. The research population consists of all structural employees of PT Bina Area Persada, with a total sample of 133 employees selected using a saturated sampling technique. Research data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires and performance assessments conducted by the company’s Human Resources Department. To measure the strength of the relationship between variables, the coefficient of determination was employed. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS version 27. The results of the analysis indicate that there is no relationship between organizational commitment and employee performance at PT Bina Area Persada. Based on these findings, the study recommends that PT Bina Area Persada enhance organizational commitment among employees so that they are reluctant to leave the organization, consider the benefits of remaining with the company, and view loyalty to the organization as an obligation. Abstrak Perkembangan era globalisasi menyebabkan tingkat persaingan dalam dunia usaha semakin tinggi, sehingga memicu perubahan lingkungan bisnis dan organisasi yang berlangsung cepat serta sulit diprediksi. Dalam kondisi tersebut, Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) memegang peranan yang sangat penting bagi organisasi, baik pada sektor publik maupun swasta. PT Bina Area Persada merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang outsourcing atau penyedia jasa tenaga kerja yang berlokasi di Surabaya, Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara komitmen organisasi dan kinerja karyawan di PT Bina Area Persada. Populasi penelitian meliputi seluruh karyawan struktural PT Bina Area Persada, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 133 karyawan yang ditentukan menggunakan teknik sampel jenuh. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui penyebaran kuesioner serta penilaian yang dilakukan oleh pihak HRD perusahaan. Untuk mengetahui tingkat hubungan antarvariabel, peneliti menggunakan uji determinasi. Proses analisis data dilakukan dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS versi 27. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara komitmen organisasi dan kinerja karyawan di PT Bina Area Persada. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, peneliti merekomendasikan agar PT Bina Area Persada meningkatkan komitmen karyawan, sehingga karyawan merasa enggan untuk meninggalkan organisasi, mempertimbangkan manfaat yang diperoleh apabila tetap bekerja, serta memandang loyalitas terhadap organisasi sebagai suatu kewajiban.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional maturity and meaning of life and life satisfaction in the sandwich generation. The research method used was quantitative with a correlational approach. The study subjects consisted of sandwich generation individuals who were in adulthood and had the responsibility of caring for both parents and children simultaneously. The research instruments consisted of an emotional maturity scale, a meaning-of-life scale, and a life satisfaction scale. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression. The results showed an F-value of 32.912 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that emotional maturity and meaning-of-life simultaneously have a significant relationship with life satisfaction. The partial test results show that emotional maturity has a significant relationship with life satisfaction (p < 0.05), and that meaningfulness in life has a significant relationship with life satisfaction (p < 0.05). The findings of this study indicate that the ability to manage emotions and the ability to interpret life play a significant role in shaping life satisfaction in the sandwich generation. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kematangan emosi dan kebermaknaan hidup dengan kepuasan hidup pada sandwich generation. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari individu sandwich generation yang berada pada usia dewasa dan memiliki tanggung jawab merawat orang tua serta anak secara bersamaan. Instrumen penelitian berupa skala kematangan emosi, skala kebermaknaan hidup, dan skala kepuasan hidup. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan regresi linier berganda. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai F sebesar 32,912 dengan tingkat signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05), yang menunjukkan bahwa kematangan emosi dan kebermaknaan hidup secara simultan memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan kepuasan hidup. Hasil uji parsial menunjukkan bahwa kematangan emosi memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan kepuasan hidup (p < 0,05), demikian pula kebermaknaan hidup memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan kepuasan hidup (p < 0,05). Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan mengelola emosi dan kemampuan memaknai kehidupan berperan penting dalam membentuk kepuasan hidup pada sandwich generation.

Abstract

Abstract Self compassion refers to an individual’s attitude that encompasses self kindness, recognition of common humanity, and mindful awareness toward oneself. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self compassion and self criticism among students who failed to gain admission to their dream universities. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving 150 students who had experienced failure in entering their preferred universities. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results indicated a significant negative relationship between self-compassion and self criticism among students who failed to enter their dream universities. Higher levels of self-compassion were associated with lower levels of self-criticism in coping with the experience of failure. This finding was supported by the correlation analysis, which showed a correlation coefficient of r = −0.607 with a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that higher self-compassion is related to lower self-criticism, and vice versa. Students who are able to develop and embrace self-compassion effectively tend to reduce self-critical behaviors following experiences of academic failure. Abstrak Self compassion merupakan sikap individu yang mencakup kebaikan, pengakuan atas kesamaan kemanusiaan serta perhatian penuh terhadap diri sendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self compassion dengan self criticism pada mahasiswa yang gagal masuk kampus impian. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Teknik penentuan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 150 mahasiswa yang pernah mengalami gagal masuk kampus impian. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji Product Moment. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara self compassion dengan self criticism pada mahasiswa yang gagal masuk kampus impian. Semakin tinggi self compassion yang dimiliki individu, maka semakin rendah self criticism mereka dalam menerima proses kegagalan. Hal ini berdasarkan hasil perhitungan korelasi Product Moment, yang dimana rxy = -0,607 dengan signifikansi p= 0,000 <0,05 artinya semakin tinggi self compassion maka semakin rendah self criticism dan sebaliknya semakin rendah self compassion maka semakin tinggi self criticism. Mahasiswa yang dapat menerima self compassion dengan baik maka individu dapat mengurangi adanya perilaku self criticism.

Abstract

Abstract This study is entitled “The Relationship between Loneliness and Homesickness among Migrant Students in Surabaya City.” The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between loneliness and homesickness among migrant students who are pursuing higher education in Surabaya City. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The research participants consisted of 107 migrant students selected using an accidental sampling technique, with the criteria of students originating from outside the region and currently studying at higher education institutions in Surabaya. The instruments used in this study were a loneliness scale and a homesickness scale, both of which had passed validity and reliability testing. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics version 26, following prerequisite tests including normality and linearity tests. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between loneliness and homesickness, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.793 and a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that higher levels of loneliness are associated with higher levels of homesickness among migrant students, and conversely, lower levels of loneliness are associated with lower levels of homesickness. Abstrak Penelitian ini berjudul “Hubungan antara Kesepian dengan Homesickness pada Mahasiswa Rantau di Kota Surabaya”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kesepian dengan homesickness pada mahasiswa rantau yang menempuh pendidikan perguruan tinggi di Kota Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian korelasional. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 107 mahasiswa rantau yang dipilih menggunakan teknik accidental sampling, dengan kriteria mahasiswa yang berasal dari luar daerah dan sedang menempuh pendidikan di perguruan tinggi di Kota Surabaya. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah skala kesepian dan skala homesickness yang telah melalui uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment dengan bantuan program IBM SPSS versi 26.0, setelah terlebih dahulu memenuhi uji prasyarat berupa uji normalitas dan uji linieritas. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara kesepian dan homesickness dengan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar r = 0,793 dan nilai signifikansi p = 0,000 (p < 0,05). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat kesepian yang dialami mahasiswa rantau, maka semakin tinggi pula tingkat homesickness yang dirasakan, dan sebaliknya.
