Abstract

The exclusivism of Islamic legal schools often limits the adaptability of Islamic jurisprudence in addressing the complex realities of the contemporary Islamic economy. This study departs from the academic concern that rigid adherence to a single madhhab potentially causes legal stagnation in responding to global financial challenges. The research aims to formulate a conceptual and methodological framework for madhhab moderation as an epistemic foundation for contemporary Islamic economic jurisprudence. Using a qualitative method with critical-comparative analysis of classical and contemporary fiqh literature, this study synthesizes diverse madhhab approaches through maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, maṣlaḥah, and ḥikmah principles. The findings reveal that madhhab moderation enables integrative, context-sensitive legal reasoning that harmonizes textual sources, socio-economic contexts, and higher legal objectives. This study proposes madhhab moderation as a model of tarjīḥ wasatī as a new methodology for formulating inclusive, responsive, and sustainable Islamic economic fatwas. The implications extend to the renewal of tarjīḥ and talfīq methods, strengthening trans-madhhab collaboration, and enhancing the global relevance of Islamic economic jurisprudence

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (PAIBP) learning at SMP Negeri 2 Pakuniran, and to identify the challenges and strategies implemented to address the dynamics of education in the era of globalization. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, Islamic Religious Education (PAIBP) teachers, and students, accompanied by direct observation and supporting documentation. The results show that the Independent Curriculum has been implemented through a student-centered, project-based, reflective, and contextual learning approach. Students are encouraged to increase their independence through Islamic activity journals, thematic discussions, and involvement in social projects. The use of learning technologies, such as e-learning platforms and online quiz applications, is an important strategy in increasing learning motivation and digital literacy. Furthermore, spiritual and social values, as well as the integration of science and religion, are also emphasized in the learning process. However, several obstacles remain, such as teachers' limited understanding of differentiated learning planning, unequal digital literacy, and limited facilities and infrastructure. This study highlights the gap between the ideals of the Independent Curriculum and the real conditions in schools in rural areas. However, the implementation of this curriculum still has a positive impact on character formation, strengthening Islamic values, and preparing students to face the challenges of the times. These findings provide theoretical and practical contributions to strengthening the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in non-urban areas

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pedagogical agency of teachers in fostering elementary school students’ motivation to learn Arabic. Learning motivation is a non-intellectual psychological factor that significantly influences academic success, particularly in Arabic as a foreign language, which poses unique challenges for young learners. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs). The informants consisted of school principals, Arabic language teachers, and third-grade students at SDIIC Pacitan. The findings reveal that Arabic teachers act as motivators, facilitators, mediators, and innovators in the learning process. These roles are manifested through creating enjoyable learning environments, integrating spiritual values into Arabic instruction, providing engaging learning media, and implementing innovative teaching methods tailored to students' needs. The teachers’ pedagogical agency was proven to significantly enhance students’ motivation to learn Arabic. This study highlights the crucial role of active teacher engagement in cultivating learning motivation in Arabic language instruction at the elementary level.

Abstract

This study explores the “meja waris” tradition, a form of collective wedding contribution practiced in Teluk Dawan Village, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, Jambi Province. The tradition embodies strong social values of solidarity and mutual cooperation, yet it raises academic concerns due to its potential tension with Islamic legal principles. The research aims to analyze the socio-cultural significance of the “meja waris” practice and to examine its conformity with Islamic law based on the perspectives of traditional leaders, religious leaders, community figures, and local residents. This study adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. Data validity was reinforced through triangulation to ensure accuracy and reliability. Findings reveal that the “meja waris” tradition serves as a social mechanism to reduce the financial burden of wedding ceremonies, reinforcing social capital within the community. However, its transformation into a binding norm that demands reciprocity has the potential to contradict Islamic legal values, particularly when coercion undermines sincerity and voluntarism. From an Islamic legal perspective, the practice remains permissible when grounded in ikhlāṣ (sincerity), tabarru‘ (voluntary giving), and ta‘āwun (mutual assistance), but becomes problematic when enforced as a social obligation. The study concludes by emphasizing the need to reinterpret and contextualize the “meja waris” tradition in accordance with Islamic values, with active involvement from the village government, religious and traditional authorities, community leaders, and academic institutions. Such collaboration is essential to preserve the tradition while ensuring alignment with Islamic legal and ethical principles.

Abstract

Arabic language learning is directed toward the mastery of language skills, including listening (al-istimā’), speaking (al-kalām), reading (al-qirā’ah), and writing (al-kitābah). This implies that Arabic instruction is expected to enable learners to communicate both receptively and productively. At the Islamic Program of MA An-Nawawi Berjan Purworejo, an integrative Arabic curriculum has been implemented since the program’s inception as part of its traditional pesantren-based educational system. This approach blends traditional and modern elements, including madrasah dīniyyah instruction and immersive Arabic language practices in the dormitory environment. This study aims to analyze the implications of the integrative curriculum on students’ skills. A qualitative descriptive method with a phenomenological approach was used, involving observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews. The results reveal that the integrative curriculum fosters a contextual and comprehensive learning environment, enhances active student participation, strengthens grammatical understanding, and builds students’ confidence in using Arabic. The findings are analyzed through the psychological lenses of behaviorism and constructivism.

Abstract

Legal Aid Post (Posbakum) is a legal aid institution funded by the state through religious courts. This institution aims to provide free legal aid for people who cannot afford to get justice. This study uses a descriptive analysis method to examine the role, challenges, and effectiveness of Posbakum in handling divorce cases. Posbakum at the Purworejo Religious Court has a strategic role in helping the community, especially the less fortunate, to access justice in divorce cases. Posbakum services include free legal consultations, document assistance, and legal information. However, several challenges such as lack of public awareness, limited understanding, and ineffective coordination with related parties still need to be overcome. Research shows that the main causes of divorce in Purworejo are prolonged conflict, financial (economic) problems, and domestic violence. In order to improve the effectiveness of Posbakum in handling divorce cases, the existing challenges must be overcome immediately. Although Posbakum has a very strategic role, efforts still need to be made to improve its performance in helping the community, especially in matters of divorce

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Tarbawi method as a Qur’anic learning strategy in fostering Qur’anic character among students at an Integrated Islamic Junior High School. The Tarbawi method is known for its flexibility and emphasis on tahsin, tahfidz, and adab cultivation through the TANDUR approach (Grow, Experience, Name, Demonstrate, Repeat, Celebrate). This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving tahfidz teachers, Takhasus class students, and instructional documents. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, presentation, and verification to obtain a comprehensive understanding. The findings reveal that the Tarbawi method effectively improves students’ recitation quality, memorization, and mastery of tajwid. Furthermore, its implementation significantly contributes to the development of religious character traits such as discipline, responsibility, perseverance, and love for the Qur’an. Challenges encountered include learning fatigue, similarities among verses, and limited time. Solutions applied include emotional support, the use of interactive media, and synergy with parents. In conclusion, the Tarbawi method serves not only as an effective Qur’anic learning strategy but also as a holistic instrument for nurturing Qur’anic character. This model is recommended for adoption in other Islamic educational institutions to produce generations with noble character and a Qur’anic worldview.

Abstract

The mental health crisis, marked by rising cases of depression, anxiety, and loss of life meaning among adolescents and university students, requires a holistic and contextual approach. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic spirituality as a protective factor for mental health through an interdisciplinary review combining Islamic religious education and clinical psychology perspectives. A qualitative literature review method was employed, using hermeneutic content analysis of scholarly works related to spirituality concepts, religious coping mechanisms, and their implementation in educational and psychological interventions. The findings indicate that values such as tawakkul (trust in God), patience, gratitude, and dhikr (remembrance of God) function as positive religious coping strategies that enhance individual resilience against psychosocial stressors. The integration of Islamic spirituality can be realized through the development of religious education curricula, the optimization of teachers’ roles as spiritual mentors, and the application of value-based Islamic psychotherapy. This study concludes that Islamic spirituality holds significant potential as both a preventive and curative intervention in addressing the mental health crisis within Muslim communities.

Abstract

This study focuses on the role of advertising in enhancing saving interest within Islamic banking. The research emphasizes three main aspects: education based on Islamic values, the utilization of both digital and conventional promotional media, and message consistency in building a positive image of Islamic banks. A quantitative approach was employed by distributing questionnaires to respondents comprising both current and prospective customers of Islamic banking. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to measure the influence of promotional variables on saving interest. The findings indicate that promotional content emphasizing Islamic values plays a significant role in increasing public understanding of the advantages of Islamic banks compared to conventional banks. The integrated use of digital and conventional media effectively expands the reach of promotional messages, particularly among younger generations who are more adaptive to technology. Moreover, message consistency contributes positively to shaping the credible and trustworthy image of Islamic banks. Overall, integrated promotional strategies are proven to enhance public saving interest in Islamic financial institutions. These findings suggest that promotion in Islamic banking goes beyond the mere delivery of information. It also serves as a public educational tool that strengthens awareness, trust, and customer loyalty toward Islamic financial institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of product, service, brand image, and promotion on the saving decisions of non-Muslim customers at Bank Syariah Sumsel Babel, Baturaja Branch. The presence of non-Muslim customers in Islamic banking institutions represents an interesting phenomenon, as it reflects the acceptance of Islamic financial systems and values beyond the Muslim community. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 non-Muslim respondents. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The findings indicate that product, service, brand image, and promotion variables significantly affect saving decisions both partially and simultaneously. Among these factors, brand image was identified as the most dominant determinant influencing the saving decisions of non-Muslim customers. These results suggest that strengthening an inclusive Islamic brand image, supported by quality products, excellent services, and effective promotional strategies, enhances the attractiveness of Islamic banks to a diverse customer base. Therefore, this study contributes to the development of more inclusive and diversity-oriented marketing strategies in Islamic banking.
