Abstract

The people of Taddan Village, located in Camplong District, Sampang Regency, recognize zakat fitrah as a religious obligation for Muslims, as it constitutes the third pillar of Islam. However, their comprehensive understanding of zakat fitrah remains limited. The tradition of distributing zakat fitrah to Kyai represents a form of implementation that has been passed down through generations and continues to be preserved in Taddan Village. This study aims to examine the underlying factors behind this tradition, to describe the distribution process, and to assess its role in shaping the community’s social, cultural, and religious life. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, focusing on social facts, cultural practices, events, and lived experiences. The findings reveal that the tradition originated from the habit of the Taddan Village community, who gave zakat fitrah to the Islamic boarding schools where their children studied, as an expression of gratitude and respect. Over time, this practice became deeply rooted and evolved into a hereditary tradition. However, when the distribution of zakat fitrah becomes overly centered on Kyai, there is a risk that the poor, who are more in need—receive less benefit. This indicates that the community tends to prioritize fulfilling religious obligations as a form of obedience, without adequately considering the social dimensions, particularly the fairness of distribution and the productive use of zakat fitrah.

Abstract

The instillation of values and character is one of the efforts in forming a civilized, dignified, and high-integrity society. In the context of civilization development, these values are not only instilled through formal education, but also through various integrated social, cultural, and political channels. This study aims to examine in depth various methods of instilling values applied in society through government institutions, social institutions, public spaces, and mass media from the perspective of Islamic Education. This approach was chosen to critically examine the relevance and contribution of Islamic values in shaping the social character of modern society. The method used is a qualitative-descriptive approach through library research, by reviewing various relevant literature from both classical and contemporary sources. The results of the study indicate that the methods of role models, habituation, providing advice (mau'idzah), and constructive dialogue have proven effective in shaping community character when implemented consistently, collectively, and sustainably by formal and non-formal institutions. The instillation of values will be more meaningful when integrated holistically into the national education system and social development programs. This study recommends the importance of synergy between the government, religious leaders, educators, and the mass media in designing strategies for instilling values that are contextual, adaptive, and based on the principles of Islam rahmatan lil 'alamin in order to create a strong and inclusive civil society

Abstract

This study explores the Dayak Ngaju customary marriage in Central Kalimantan incorporates unique elements of indigenous legal values, one of which is the practice of palaku or dowry, which may take the form of land. This study examines the legal status of land used as palaku in customary marriage and its implications for the protection of women’s rights to marital property, focusing on the Decision of the Palangka Raya High Court Number 63/PDT/2020/PT. PLK. A normative juridical approach is applied to explore the tension between customary law and national law, especially regarding the transfer of land without the legal wife's consent. The findings reveal that the transfer of jointly owned land as palaku without explicit spousal consent violates national legal principles. The decision reflects gender inequality and legal gaps that fail to adequately protect women in the national justice system. This study highlights the urgent need to harmonize customary law with national law in order to uphold substantive justice, particularly in divorce cases involving high-value assets.

Abstract

The Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan, OJK) plays a strategic role in supervising and promoting the growth of the Islamic financial sector in Indonesia, including in regions that are not national economic centers. This study aims to analyze the impact of OJK’s policies on the growth of Islamic financial products, particularly Hajj savings, at Bank Muamalat’s Pasuruan Sub-Branch Office (Kantor Cabang Pembantu, KCP). The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, with primary data obtained through in-depth interviews and direct observations at Bank Muamalat KCP Pasuruan. Secondary data were drawn from policy documents and relevant literature. The findings reveal that OJK’s policies have successfully created a conducive business climate for the development of Islamic financial institutions at the regional level by providing clear regulations, effective supervision, and support for innovative products that comply with sharia principles. This success is further reinforced by the synergy between the formal sector, such as Islamic banking, and social communities that serve as the customer base, thereby expanding outreach and enhancing public literacy in Islamic finance. The study concludes that OJK’s policies not only ensure regulatory compliance but also contribute to strengthening the role of Islamic finance as a driving force for regional economic development

Abstract

This study addresses the limited understanding of prayer (shalat) procedures among early childhood students, which often results in difficulties in memorizing the correct sequence of movements and recitations, thereby affecting the overall quality of worship at both school and home. The primary objective is to analyze the effectiveness of audio-visual media in improving children’s cognitive and psychomotor competencies related to prayer. Employing a qualitative approach within the framework of Classroom Action Research (CAR), the study was conducted in two cycles involving 20 children from group B-B at RA Al-Jauharen, Kota Jambi, during the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively to identify changes in students’ learning behavior and performance. The results demonstrate that the use of audio-visual media significantly enhanced students’ engagement, facilitated comprehension of prayer sequences and recitations, and improved accuracy and fluency in practice sessions. Additionally, children exhibited higher levels of confidence and active participation during instructional activities. These findings highlight the pedagogical potential of integrating audio-visual media as an innovative and effective strategy in early childhood Islamic education, particularly for teaching prayer in a more interactive and memorable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the dual structure of Islamic education in Pakistan, encompassing formal education integrated into the national system through the Islamiyat curriculum and traditional education conducted in madrasas based on the classical Dars-e-Nizami syllabus. The research focuses on examining the relationship between government educational policies, the dynamics of traditional madrasas, and the challenges of integrating Islamic values with the demands of modernity. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through an extensive literature review of official documents, scholarly articles, and publications from international organizations. The findings reveal that reforms such as the Single National Curriculum (SNC) and madrasa regulation represent significant policy initiatives; however, their implementation is hindered by ideological resistance, structural constraints, and the lack of participatory approaches. Islamic education in Pakistan remains in tension between religious conservatism and global imperatives, highlighting the need for inclusive, transformative policies built on multi-stakeholder collaboration. These findings have implications for the development of adaptive, moderate, and contextually relevant models of Islamic education in other Muslim-majority countries

Abstract

The mu’jam or dictionary represents a fundamental instrument in the preservation and development of the Arabic language, as well as a medium for learning among non-Arab speakers. This study aims to examine the historical development of mu’jam al-‘arabiyyah from the classical to the modern period, to trace the contributions of its major compilers, and to identify the institutions involved in the codification of Arabic both nationally and internationally. The research employs a library-based method by reviewing various sources, including books, articles, journals, and relevant online references. The findings reveal that the compilation of mu’jam began in the 2nd century H with al-Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi’s al-‘Ain, followed by classical figures such as Ibn Duraid, al-Azhari, Ibn Faris, Ibn Sidah, and Ibn Manzur. In the modern period, new works emerged, including al-Mu‘jam al-Wasīṭ, al-Mu‘jam al-Kabīr, and al-Mu‘jam al-‘Arabī al-Asāsī, along with digital and online dictionaries. In Indonesia, the development of mu’jam was marked by the publication of dictionaries authored by A.W. Munawwir and Mahmud Yunus, as well as official editions issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Institutions that have contributed to the compilation of mu’jam include the National Language Development and Fostering Agency, the LPMQ of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), private publishing houses, and international bodies such as Majma‘ al-Lughah al-‘Arabiyyah in Cairo and ALECSO. These findings affirm the vital role of mu’jam in ensuring the continuity of the Arabic language and supporting its teaching and learning in diverse contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the Mepahur tradition in Jongar Village, Southeast Aceh, as a cultural heritage of the Alas ethnic group, where young men and women meet through the exchange of poetic verses at night. While considered a respectful form of social interaction by the local community, the tradition has sparked debate due to concerns about its alignment with Islamic teachings, particularly regarding interactions between non-mahram individuals. This qualitative research involves observation, in-depth interviews with religious and traditional leaders, and a literature review of hadith texts. Findings reveal two dominant perspectives: some religious figures accept the tradition if conducted under supervision and within Islamic boundaries, while others view it as prohibited due to its potential for illicit interactions. Deviations from traditional norms were also found, contributing to the tension with religious principles. The study concludes that Mepahur can be preserved if reconstructed in accordance with Islamic values—by limiting interaction, ensuring gender separation, and maintaining oversight by community leaders. This highlights the importance of balancing cultural preservation with adherence to religious principles.

Abstract

Tiga Pier Beach in Pamekasan Regency has emerged as a marine tourism destination contributing to local socio-economic development. Prior to tourism initiatives, the area lacked adequate waste management; however, the introduction of daily cleaning services has reduced environmental degradation. This study explores the application of blue economy principles creativity, innovation, local resource utilization, and zero-waste practices in fostering sustainable marine tourism, analyzed through an Islamic economic lens. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were obtained from Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDes) and Civil Service officials in Branta Village. Findings reveal that blue economy implementation is reflected in four key practices: (1) natural efficiency through low CO₂ emissions and resource conservation, (2) zero-waste management, (3) community empowerment to enhance social awareness, and (4) income diversification for coastal residents. These strategies have improved both economic benefits and the quality of tourist destinations. The study concludes that integrating blue economy principles with Islamic economic values can strengthen sustainability outcomes, providing a viable model for marine tourism development in Muslim-majority coastal regions.

Abstract

Morality is defined as human behavior or character that reflects the rightness or wrongness of actions. Moral education is essential for students as it plays a crucial role in shaping individuals with noble character (akhlakul karimah). One approach to moral education in schools is through habituation of religious culture, utilizing modeling and routine practice. This study aims to analyze the managerial approach of Akidah Akhlak teachers in developing and fostering students’ moral values. The method employed is a library research (library research) with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected from books, journals, and academic sources related to Akidah Akhlak education and character development. The results indicate that moral education can be implemented through three main aspects: (1) teacher strategies in instilling moral values through modeling and habituation, (2) planning that includes the preparation of teaching materials and methods, and (3) implementation emphasizing students’ direct practice in daily life, such as waking up on time, performing five daily prayers, obeying parents and teachers, and avoiding prohibited actions. By applying an effective managerial approach, students can internalize moral values from an early age and develop good and noble character.
