Abstract

An interior designer, has apparent role to provide a humanist design as a solution to emerging social problems. This action is reflected in the community service activities that performed with the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Bandung on humanitarian projects. This project is part of the Merdeka Belajar - Kampus Merdeka program that conducted by Maranatha Christian University. The initial problem that arises in this humanitarian project is the absence of assistance in the context of design, so the output results often become not ideal when viewed from the user’s humanist. In order to obtain ideal results, it is necessary to apply design rules and principles into the design of interior spaces. The method in this activity is assistance through science and technology diffusion, in the form of support in creating spatial designs that aim to provide convenience for activities and decent residential spaces. The results of this activity are the layout and zoning of space in degenerative treatment social service activities and the design of healthy homes in one of the densely populated neighborhoods in the city of Bandung.

Abstract

One of the problems found in BUMDes Serdang Tirta Kencana, Serdang Wetan Village is how MSMEs can be more advanced, in addition to developing the use of Embung as an effort to improve the welfare of the surrounding community. The efforts made in Pk Mini are only part of several empowerment plans for improving the welfare of the community and STK BUMDes. Promotion through social media is one of the efforts to increase their income. Therefore, training is carried out to photograph products and videos that will be used to promote their products. The enthusiastic response and response was very real. This is shown by the preparation before training, the implementation of training, to the results of photos and videos produced. Collaboration to advance MSMEs and BUMDes is a strong basis for the community to participate in the development of improving their welfare.

Abstract

Earthquakes are unexpected natural disasters that can cause severe damage to buildings, especially those not compliant with standards. The construction of educational facilities, in this case, school buildings in Indonesian territory located in earthquake-prone areas, needs special attention. The Cianjur earthquake that occurred in 2022 resulted in damage to several school buildings in the affected area. The Community Service activities in this article investigate 9 Junior High School buildings and 5 Elementary School buildings in the Cianjur Regency area that experienced minor to severe damage that must be immediately repaired or strengthened. Community service in cooperation with the Cianjur regional government's educational institutions and school personnel impacted by the earthquake. The results of the visual investigation of the school building show damage from moderate to severe levels and require immediate action, considering that Cianjur has a high earthquake risk. Repairs and strengthening can be carried out according to the damage level, starting from adding new columns for beams that experience excessive deflection due to dimensions that do not meet the requirements or adding reinforcement using FRP. Columns with dimensions that do not meet the requirements, dimensions can be added even if there is no significant damage visually during the investigation.

Abstract

Digital transformation in church congregational visiting services is a challenge for GKI Delima where there are problems with data accuracy, coordination and reporting processes. The use of appropriate technology can be the best solution to overcome existing problems. The purpose of this community service program is to develop an Android-based application to improve the process of church congregational visiting services at GKI Delima. The stages of implementing this activity start from the planning, design-development and implementation stages. Application development refers to the RAD (Rapid Application Development) and using Android Studio. The results of the development of mobile apps for the GKI Delima congregation as part of the digital transformation process were able to improve the quality of the congregation's treatment process to become more effective and efficient. The scheduling and coordination process becomes faster and easier. Data is more accessible and faster in the process of updating data. The process of reporting and documenting the results of congregation visits has become easier, faster, safer, and paperless. The process of digital transformation in the congregation's visiting service at GKI Delima has had a positive impact on improving the quality of the congregation's visiting process to make it easier, faster and safer.

Abstract

Application of Biotechnology in Indonesia has been found in many sectors especially in food sector. One of the benefits is that it can be used to increase the nutritional value of food product so that it can be beneficial for health and decrease the risk of disease. The introduction of Biotechnology in utilizing local food product will increase students’ sensitivity about natural materials and their utilization. The purpose of this program was to introduce the role of Biotechnology in utilizing and processing agriculture by-product into beneficial edible end-product. This activity was divided into three stages: preparation, implementation, and reporting the activity. Preparation was done by contacting 7 State Senior High School as a partner. Implementation was conducted in partner’s Laboratory of Biology by delivering the teaching materials, continued with producing banana corm cookies and checked its prebiotik capability. Banana corm cookies were successfully produced. In vitro study showed that Lactobacillus plantarum FNCC-0265 were able to grow in banana corm cookies substituted media. The students showed a positive response during the activity, and it was shown by creation of the cookies and their ability to use drop plate technique for bacterial enumeration in vitro.

Abstract

Technological developments and automation require changes in learning materials and methods. One material that receives special attention is robotics. Many schools implement robotics skills as part of the learning curriculum. However, many schools still do not have human resources who can provide robotics learning. Apart from that, during the Covid-19 pandemic, many students experienced a decline in their enthusiasm for learning. To overcome this problem, many schools are trying to implement alternative learning methods, such as using games as a learning tool. This activity tries to solve these two problems by creating alternative learning for high school level robotics interest groups using LEGO Spike Education. Apart from that, the project-based learning method is applied to improve critical thinking and problem solving skills. The training activities were carried out over a period of 6 months with a total of 11 students consisting of 5 class X students and 6 class XI students. Learning outcomes for 1 semester are tested and assessed as extracurricular grades. The obstacle experienced was time constraints.

Abstract

Maranatha Christian University is a private university in Bandung which claims to be a research- based teaching university by upholding the ICE values, namely integrity, care, excellence in its tridharma program. One of them is in the form of community service activities through the art medium of wall painting (murals) involving lecturers from the Bachelor of Visual Communication Design Program and the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design as material formulators and facilitators. The activity entitled "Community Service through Making Flora and Fauna Themed Murals at TB-TK Santa Ursula Bandung" was carried out using the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) method for project-based collaborative learning for the students involved in two implementation sessions. This activity targets partners, namely the basic education institution TB-TK Santa Ursula Bandung. This community service activity succeeded in providing technical insight and creativity in terms of illustration design in several public space locations at TB-TK Santa Ursula Bandung. These outcomes are demonstrated in several wall paintings, or murals, that the Maranatha Christian University faculty and student service team did.

Abstract

Souvenirs are one of the strategic products needed by KTD Gemah Ripah. Souvenirs were given to representatives of the group as a symbol and proof of friendship between institutions. Currently, KTD Gemah Ripah needs new souvenirs that can increase the meaning of tourism activities. The aim of the service is to develop community potential through creating new bowl-shaped souvenir designs. The service method is divided into several stages, namely observation, interviews and workshops. The output is a souvenir bowl. The results of the service are applied to serve Brazilian spinach noodles which are processed themselves by KTD Gemah Ripah. The KTD Gemah Ripah community was actively involved in carrying out the design process by filling in the modules. Sketches from the module are translated into finished products for testing. Based on this service activity, KTD Gemah Ripah was satisfied with the souvenir designs they produced. They gain valuable experience because they have knowledge of the design process. At the end of this activity, the author saw the potential of KTD Gemah Ripah in utilizing the surrounding environment as a reference for developing new souvenirs. The novelty of the souvenir can be seen in the variety of motifs produced by each workshop participant.

Abstract

The global economic crisis challenge which caused the economy to not be conducive had a significant impact on the macroeconomic and microeconomic levels, namely individuals. In this circumstance, the public needs to be provided education related to financial literacy, especially financial planning, investment, and retirement through community service activities. Implementation of community service activities in the form of training is conducted to provide information and knowledge and increase public understanding, especially teachers and employees of BPK Penabur Bandar Lampung on the importance of financial planning, investment planning, and retirement planning. The evaluation results pre- and post-presentation of material related to these three topics showed an increase in participants' understanding of financial planning, investment planning and retirement planning. Apart from that, there has been an increase in information and access to knowledge related to financial planning, investment planning, especially related to investment instruments, and retirement planning. These two conclusions were drawn based on evaluation results which showed an increase in the percentage of correct answers given by participants.

Abstract

Abstrak Real Work Lecture Activities (KKN) are a form of activity that provides students with learning experiences to live in the community outside campus. KKN activites also function as a learning process and service to developing communities and directly identify and handle various development problems being faced by the community. KKN is carried out by universities in an effort to increase the mission and weight of education for students to get greater added value in higher education. The implementation of KKN is a manifestation of the fourth catur dharma of higher education, namely community service. Development and resettlement of disadvantaged areas (Kemenkes PDTT) carries out programs to implement the sustainable development goals. This program, which is also known as sustainable development goals (SDGs), is regulated in Presidential Regulation Number 59 of 2017 concerning village SDGs in Wanaherang Village.
