Abstract

This research was conducted at SDK Nuabosi with the aim of improving literacy skills, especially in recognizing letters in lower grades by using Skruf as the learning media used. Skruf media is a learning media used to help students recognize letters. This research uses a qualitative method with a qualitative descriptive approach using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the problems experienced by students at SDK Nuabosi, namely low literacy skills caused by the lack of learning media so that students have not been able to recognize letters in this problem the researcher tried to apply learning to recognize letters by applying two indicators, namely mentioning the letters pointed to by the teacher and making scribbles in the form of letters using skruf learning media. In the application of learning to recognize letters in grades 1 and 2 using skruf media, there was an increase where students were able to recognize letters properly and correctly. Based on the problems found in the form of low literacy skills in recognizing letters of grades 1 and 2 at SDK Nuabosi with the solution carried out by researchers using skruf media as the learning media used and there was an increase in literacy in recognizing letters in grades 1 and 2 which was seen from the learning activities to recognize letters carried out using this skruf media, students were able to understand learning to recognize letters with skruf media which uses two indicators used. The role of the learning media used is very useful in helping the learning process where the existence of learning media can help in learning and also foster children's enthusiasm in carrying out the learning process that takes place in class.

Abstract

Transnational migration has led to the emergence of diaspora families across various countries, bringing with them their original cultural identities, including their native languages. Within these families, the language is maintained and transmitted to subsequent generations as a heritage language. This study aims to analyze the development of research on heritage language in the field of language education through a bibliometric approach. The main reason for this research is to understand trends, dominant topics, and the interconnectedness of themes in heritage language studies, as well as to map scientific contributions over the past three decades. The method used is bibliometric analysis utilizing data from Google Scholar accessed via the Publish or Perish (PoP) 8 software and visualized using VOSviewer 1.6.18. A total of 450 documents from 1991 to 2025 were collected and analyzed based on citations, keywords, and co-occurrence among themes. The results show a significant increase in the number of publications in recent years, peaking in 2018. The keyword ‘learner’ emerged as a dominant node in the co-occurrence network, with strong links to concepts such as heritage language student, language ideology, and language maintenance. Additionally, a close relationship was found between the themes of heritage language education and heritage language policy, indicating a significant conceptual connection between language policy within families and the effectiveness of heritage language education. This study affirms the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in understanding and supporting the sustainability of heritage languages in multilingual societies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of traditional children's games in instilling cultural values and character development in early childhood. Traditional games used in Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) institutions serve as effective learning media to teach local cultural values and positive character traits. Through a literature review approach, the first step was to gather literature from various sources, such as academic databases, scientific journals, and digital libraries. The research findings show that games like congklak, petak umpet, kelereng, and engklek help children learn cultural values such as cooperation, mutual assistance, time management, and the importance of following rules. Furthermore, traditional games contribute to the development of children's character, including discipline, honesty, patience, and responsibility. Despite challenges such as a lack of understanding among teachers about traditional games and the influence of technology, this study recommends the importance of training for PAUD teachers, developing curricula that integrate traditional games, and innovating by combining technology with these games. This research offers valuable insights into the benefits of traditional games in early childhood education.
