Abstract

This study examines the relationship between organizational role conflict and academic performance among university students. This research uses a quantitative approach with correlational methods to analyze data collected from 111 active student respondents who participate in organizations. Organizational role conflict arises when students prioritize organizational responsibilities over academic tasks, leading to stress and decreased academic performance. The study identifies various factors contributing to role conflict, including time management issues, stress from organizational duties, and negative identification processes. The research highlights the impact of role conflict on academic performance, such as delayed task completion, reduced academic motivation, and lower grades. The findings suggest that effective time management, clear role expectations, and support systems are crucial for students to balance organizational and academic responsibilities. The study provides insights into the challenges faced by students in managing dual roles and offers recommendations for improving academic performance through better role management.

Abstract

This study examined the role of self-efficacy and peer social support in problem-focused coping among Chief Engineers (Kadepsin) of Navy Warships (KRI) in the Eastern Fleet Command (Koarmada II). The maritime work environment posed various challenges, requiring effective coping strategies. Self-efficacy, defined as an individual’s belief in their ability to overcome difficulties, and peer social support, including emotional and instrumental assistance, were assumed to contribute to managing work-related stress. A quantitative approach was employed, using a saturated sampling technique involving 72 Chief Engineers as respondents. Data were collected via Google Forms using validated scales: a 16-item self-efficacy scale (α = 0.898), a 21-item peer social support scale (α = 0.905), and a problem-focused coping scale (α = 0.940). The results showed that self-efficacy and peer social support significantly predicted problem-focused coping (R² = 0.915), accounting for 91.5% of the variance. Minor hypothesis tests revealed that self-efficacy contributed 84.6% and peer social support contributed 87.2% to problem-focused coping. These findings highlighted the importance of enhancing self-efficacy and social support networks to improve coping strategies in high-pressure maritime work environments.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate how self-efficacy and social support correlate independently and simultaneously with aircraft technician stress coping at the naval aviation center, also known as the aviator center. The saturated sampling technique selected 51 aircraft technicians from the aviation center for this study. We gathered data using scales for social support, self-efficacy, and stress coping, comprising a total of 12 valid items. For data analysis, we applied the product-moment correlation using SPSS version 26 for Windows. The results indicated a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and social support in managing stress. Additionally, there was a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy in stress management and overall stress coping abilities. Furthermore, the findings demonstrated a significant positive relationship between social support and stress coping. These results provide insights that could inform the development of stress management interventions specifically designed for aircraft engine technicians, particularly those in military settings.

Abstract

This study seeks to explore the impact of religiosity and social support on the psychological well-being of students in Islamic boarding schools. This study involved 96 high school students in Indonesia. The method was quantitative. Multiple linear regression analysis and hierarchical regression were used to test the hypotheses. The results of multiple linear regression analysis show that religiosity and social support affect psychological well-being. Partial analysis results show a very large positive relationship between social support religiosity and psychological well-being. Hierarchical regression results showed that, when tested together with religiosity and social support, gender had a significant effect on psychological well-being. Gender also influences the strengths and weaknesses of the influence of religiosity and social support on psychological well-being.

Abstract

Superstitious belief is a belief or trust in a certain event, activity, or item that is believed to have a good or bad impact in the future through an irrational mechanism. On the other hand, agreeableness is a personality dimension characterized by cooperative characteristics, easily trusting others, and having a tendency to avoid conflict. This study aims to determine the relationship between agreeableness and superstitious beliefs in Central Javanese society. The research participants were Javanese people living in Central Java aged 18-60 years, as many as 217 people selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out using the BFI-2 (Big Five Inventory) scale and the superstitious belief scale developed based on aspects of superstitious belief. The results showed a weak negative correlation. This finding provides information that other factors may be more dominant in predicting superstitious belief

Abstract

Emotional intelligence (EQ) has long been hypothesized to significantly influence quality of life; however, previous research has shown considerable variation in results due to the use of different measurement tools for these variables, despite employing the same theoretical foundation regarding emotional intelligence and quality of life. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between EQ and quality of life through a meta-analysis of studies published between 2010 and 2020. The meta-analysis method in this study involved 25 studies (N = 7,523) that met the inclusion criteria. The results indicate a significant positive correlation between EQ and quality of life. Furthermore, the moderator analysis revealed that the measurement tools for EQ and the domains of quality of life significantly moderated the strength of the relationship between emotional intelligence and quality of life. The implications of these findings could serve as a discussion point in the context of developing intervention programs for emotional intelligence and quality of life, as well as providing a foundation for future relevant research directions.

Abstract

Sexual harassment is not only prevalent to the grown-ups. The underage frequently happens to be the victims of this appalling behaviour. The common cause of the phenomenon is insufficient sexual education. An intervention is considered necessary to minimise the sexual harassment prevalence, one of which is through group counselling. This experimental research was designed in a one group pretest-posttest approach to identify the effectiveness of group counselling on sexual education. The group counselling will be conducted through psychoeducation and feedback. The intervention has five sessions of 90-120 minutes each. There are five chosen participants using a purposive sampling method. Data analysis using one sample  t-test shows that the group counselling positively enhances ones’ sexual education knowledge and comprehension. The intervention provides education expected to enhance self-protection mechanisms of child against sexual harassment or even sexual abuse.

Abstract

This exploratory study aims to identify preliminary indications of the relationship between demographic aspects and career choice motives among Indonesian Navy applicants. Data were obtained from secondary sources in the form of 2023 biodata records and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The respondents consisted of 1,206 prospective servicemen from various entry levels, selected through stratified purposive sampling. Demographic variables included age, gender, education, domicile, family background, and previous selection experience. Findings in these research are: Among cadet candidates, six main themes emerged: “personal aspiration,” “serving the nation,” “family pride,” “leadership,” “world exploration,” and “employment need.” For non-commissioned officer candidates, male applicants preferred operational duties aboard warships or within the Marine Corps, whereas female applicants tended to choose administrative roles. Only family background showed a strong indication related to career choice. The selection ratio, especially among female NCO applicants, was low. The large gap between applicants and available quotas may lead to recurring applicants or repeated failures, potentially resulting in frustration and apathy. The integrated recruitment system of TNI (Army, Navy, and Air Force) for the officer level, introduced in 2024, might be expected to mitigate potential issues caused by the low selection ratio.

Abstract

Depression is a mental disorder that significantly affects individuals’ quality of life and has shown an increasing prevalence in Indonesia. Managing depression requires a comprehensive and evidence-based approach, one of which is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT focuses on enhancing acceptance of negative thoughts and emotions while encouraging commitment to actions aligned with personal life values. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of ACT in reducing depression levels among individuals with moderate to severe depression at the Efata Recovery Home in Salatiga. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using a one-group pretest–posttest design involving seven participants. Depression levels were measured using the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) before and after the ACT intervention. Results of the paired sample t-test indicated a statistically significant reduction in depression levels (p < 0.05). The effect size analysis using Cohen’s d showed a moderate effect, suggesting that although ACT was statistically effective, its practical impact was moderate. These findings supported the evidence that ACT can serve as an effective psychological intervention for reducing depressive symptoms and provided a basis for applying acceptance-based therapies in mental health recovery setting in Indonesia.
