Abstract

Socio-emotional skills are an essential aspect that must be developed from an early age because they directly influence children’s ability to interact, regulate emotions, understand themselves, and adapt to their environment. The age of 5–6 years is a very strategic period for instilling these skills, as at this stage children begin to learn how to express feelings, build relationships with peers, and understand prevailing social norms. Therefore, early childhood education should not only focus on cognitive development, but also on character formation and strengthening socio-emotional skills. This study aims to describe in depth the role of teachers in developing socio-emotional skills of children aged 5–6 years at TK Islam Terpadu Nurul Ilmi. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through classroom observations of children’s activities, in-depth interviews with teachers, and documentation of learning processes. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the socio-emotional skills of children at TK Islam Terpadu Nurul Ilmi were categorized as good, covering aspects of self-awareness, emotional regulation, prosocial behavior, cooperation, and responsibility. Teachers played a central role through their functions as educators, motivators, communicators, and supervisors. The strategies used included habituation of positive behavior, role modeling, warm communication, and monitoring children’s social interactions. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating socio-emotional development into daily learning activities, as well as the need for collaboration between teachers and parents to create consistent parenting patterns at home and school. The implications of this research are expected to serve as input for early childhood teachers in designing learning strategies that holistically support children’s growth and development.

Abstract

Language as a means of communication requires knowledge that studies the right order of words so listeners can capture meaning without confusion. The science of syntax is present to help further learning about the order of conjunctions, especially coordinative conjunctions. This research is useful to expand knowledge about how coordinative conjunctions are used in speech texts. The purpose of this research is to analyze the types of coordinative conjunctions used in Prabowo Subianto's speech texts. The research object was based on the research needs and the use of coordinative conjunctions in his speeches to be analyzed and classified in depth. The data source was taken from news.detik.com publication on April 24, 2024, in the form of text. Qualitative descriptive approach and syntactical approach were chosen as the theoretical approach. The author obtained the data by reading the object of research and then identified it, so that the listening and recording techniques were used in this research. The agih method was used to analyze the text. The data were presented using formal and informal methods with 67 coordinative conjunctions used by Prabowo Subianto, namely "and" 40 times, "with" 9 times, "or" 1 time, "but" 2 times, "only" 3 times, "even" 1 time, "namely" 1 time, "that" 6 times, "is" 1 time, and "so" 3 times. Coordinative conjunctions play an important role in building text cohesion and the effectiveness of delivering political messages. This research highlights the role of coordinative conjunctions in oral political discourse, especially in the rhetoric of national leadership. Abstract

Language determines the material that is taught. Language is an organized system of communication, which can be expressed either through speech or writing, and consists of units such as words, phrases, clauses, and sentences. Language is also a means of mediation between members of society who play an important role in shaping the cultural character of a nation. This research uses methodological and theoretical approaches. The approach focuses on in-depth observations based on the results obtained from the object of research that collects data, and there is no analysis of numerical or statistical data. The method that can be applied at the analysis stage consists of two types, namely the commensurate method and the agih method. The exemplary method is an independent method used to recognize certain linguistic units with the help of identifying tools that come from outside the language. While the AGIH method, the identifying tool, is precisely part of the language itself. This research applies a syntactic error analysis method to find out punctuation and spelling errors that often occur in biographical texts. The results of this study are expected to be an example for writers in writing various texts and reading materials. They can not be used as reference material for consideration in using good and correct punctuation. This research also aims to correct errors in the biography text of the President of Indonesia and maximize the quality of this biography text.

Abstract

This research reviews punctuation errors that are not in accordance with the rules that have been determined based on grammatical standards. Similar errors are still found in opinion texts in the 2025 edition of the cnbcindonesia.com website, especially related to the use of punctuation marks. This study aims to analyze punctuation errors in a collection of opinion texts in the 2025 edition of the cnbcindonesia.com website. Another purpose of this research is as a reading literacy material for students to improve their understanding of punctuation errors. In this research, the author uses a qualitative descriptive methodological approach and a syntactic approach as a theoretical approach. The author obtained the study data by using the analysis technique of listening to readings from the collection of opinions as related references and recording information that can be used as data. The analysis is done by reading and marking errors in the news, then grouped to draw conclusions. This reason underlies the author in using listening and recording techniques in this research. The method in analyzing the data used by the author is the agih method. The author analyzes the text by identifying sentences that deviate from syntax rules and evaluating their feasibility as good and correct opinion texts. The analysis found several syntax errors in the form of punctuation errors that can affect the meaning or delivery of the message. In addition, this opinion text is worthy of being a student reading material to improve understanding because the errors are still tolerable and the structure is good.

Abstract

Learning resources refer to anything that contains information to be presented either through media or for self-learning. This study aims to provide readers, especially seventh-grade junior high school students, with an understanding of which sentences are effective and which ones still need improvement in an article about mental health on the Kompasiana.com website, December 2024 edition. The research approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques used are the listening technique to gather data by listening to the language usage, followed by the note-taking technique to record words or sentences for analysis. Data presentation is done informally. The results of the analysis show that the most common error type is the inefficiency of word usage, with 12 sentences that are redundant and overly wordy. The second most common error is the use of overly simple sentences, with 7 sentences. The third error type is the use of foreign language, found in 3 sentences. The next error type is mismatched information, found in 2 sentences, and the last is errors in sentence structure, found in 1 sentence. This study is expected to help students understand how to construct more effective sentences.

Abstract

We have recognized various types of text, including opinion text. An opinion text is a text that contains the author's opinion or assessment of an object. A text, especially an opinion text, uses various types of phrases, one of which is noun phrases. A noun phrase is a phrase that can occupy the function of a subject or object in a clause. This research aims to analyze the coordinative and subordinative noun phrases in opinion texts on the January 2025 edition of the Sevima website. A qualitative descriptive approach is used as the methodology of this research, and a syntactic approach is used as the theoretical approach. The data collection technique used by the writer is a listening and note-taking technique, where the writer, in this study, reads several related references and records information that can be used as data. The data used in this study are opinion texts in the January 2025 edition of the Sevima website. The data analysis method used in this article is the agih method, using several stages, namely listening, analyzing, recording, and determining the use of noun phrases. The data findings in this study are that, in the opinion text, there are as many as 60 noun phrases with different structures and constructions. Much as 6 data include coordinative noun phrases (FNK) and 54 others are subordinative noun phrases (FNS). The results also show that subordinate noun phrases with the structure/construction of N+N and N+V phrases are the most widely used constructions in the opinion texts. With this research, it is hoped that it can be a source of learning for the community, especially students and researchers. The researcher also hopes that future studies on noun phrases can improve the shortcomings of this research.

Abstract

Explanatory text is commonly used in Indonesian language learning, especially at the high school level, as it helps students understand the process or cause-and-effect of a phenomenon. In explanatory texts, the structure of sentences and the correct use of phrases are crucial for conveying information clearly and effectively. Understanding the types of phrases in explanatory texts will help students improve their reading skills and text composition. Therefore, it is important to analyze the types of phrases in explanatory texts to improve the quality of reading materials used in learning. This study aims to analyze the types of phrases found in a collection of explanatory texts published on the Liputan6 website in June 2023 as reading material for high school students. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection techniques involving documentation of explanatory texts available on the website. The analysis results show that nominal, verbal, and adjectival phrases are the dominant types of phrases. Authors commonly use nominal phrases to explain the subject in explanatory texts. In contrast, verbal phrases indicate actions or processes, and adjectival phrases describe the characteristics or states of the objects explained. In conclusion, understanding the types of phrases in explanatory texts is essential for improving students' ability to comprehend, analyze, and construct explanatory texts effectively and systematically.

Abstract

Effective sentences are sentences that can convey messages or information in a concise, clear, and complete way, without changing the purpose and meaning. Utilizing effective sentences makes it easier for readers and listeners to grasp the meaning of the sentences conveyed. If you use ineffective sentences, the information you want to communicate will be difficult for readers or listeners to understand. Effective sentences can reduce unnecessary words, resulting in coherent sentences without presenting redundant information. This research aims to analyze the text of the use of ineffective sentences in opinion texts on the cross.id page regarding education and assess how well a sentence in an opinion text is able to convey the message of the author nicely. The method used in this writing uses a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach by applying, reading the and note-taking techniques. In analyzing the data, it uses literature study techniques sourced from scientific journals. While the data presentation technique uses tables. This research requires scientific journals and laptops. This study produces several ineffective sentences, witch was stand are classified into 3, namely 18 sentences of writing errors, 12 sentences of punctuation inaccuracy, and 1 sentence of capitalization inaccuracy. This study is useful as a guideline in writing effective sentences, besides that, recoders can pay more attention to the paper on effective sentences.

Abstract

The research that has been conducted is entitled “The Effect of Mind Mapping Method on the Ability to Write Short Stories in Class XI Man 1 Karo Students” which is motivated by the low ability of students in compiling a systematic short story structure, developing main ideas, and connecting between ideas logically. The research methodology uses quantitative methods with a quasi-experimental approach with a non-equivalent control group design using non-probability sampling techniques (purposive sampling) and in the form of pre-test and post-test with a total sample of 30 XI-1 students as the experimental group and 30 XI-3 students as the control group. Data collection techniques with observation, essay tests, questionnaires, and documentation. Based on the results of the pre-test that has been carried out, it is known that the average of the control and experimental classes is not much different, namely the control class pre-test value of 68.00 while the experimental class average is 70.40. After the two classes carried out a different learning process, there was a significant difference in the post-test given, namely the control class obtained an average score of 75.07 and the experimental class obtained an average score of 84.13. Based on the explanation above, it proves that there is an increase in the results in writing short stories after the learning process.

Abstract

This study, entitled "The Effect of Flat Shape Comic Media on Students’ Cognitive Abilities in Mathematics Learning in Elementary Schools 136539 Tanjungbalai," aimed to determine the effect of using comics in learning flat shapes on the cognitive abilities of second-grade students at SD Negeri 136539, Tanjungbalai. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design of the two-group pretest-posttest type. The research subjects consisted of 20 students divided into two groups, namely the experimental group using comic media and the control group using conventional methods, each consisting of 10 students. The instrument used was a multiple-choice question that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the normality and homogeneity tests showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The independent t-test showed a significant influence between the experimental and control groups with a significance value. The average learning outcomes of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group. This indicates that comics have a positive effect on improving students' cognitive abilities. Comics present material in a visual, engaging, and contextual manner, making it easier to understand. Therefore, comics can be an effective alternative learning medium.
