Abstract

Having faith, fear of God Almighty, and noble character is a student’s behavior to improve oneself to become a person who is oriented towards God so that he can apply this understanding in everday life. Phenomena that occur in the field include student’s lack of prayer, lack of discipline, lack of 3S attitude, lack of awareness of maintaining cleanliness, and lack of order during the flag ceremony. This study aimed to determine the influence of film media to increase the dimension of faith, fear of God Almighty, and noble character in MAN Tarakan. This type of research is quantitative with a design experimental approach one group pretest-posstest design. The population of this study was 197 students using purposive sampling techniques as many as 12 students. This research instrument uses a Likert scale. The data analysis technique in this study is descriptive an inferential analysis techniques with tests Wilcoxon, obtained asym itself amounting to 0.002 with a significance level (a) of 5% (0.05). so, it can be interpreted asym itself < a or 0.002 < 0.5, thus indicating that Ha is accepted with the hypothesis that there is an influence of film media to increase the dimension of faith, fear of God Almighty, and noble character in MAN Tarakan.

Abstract

Incredible technological advances have facilitated human activities such as communicating between individuals that take place indirectly. On the other hand, there is a phenomenon where individuals ignore the people around them because they are more focused on their mobile phones and do not look at their interlocutors. This condition is known as phubbing behaviour which includes communication disturbance and phone obsession. The current study examines the influence of self-control on phubbing behavior among university students. A quantitative approach with a comparative causal method was used by involving 50 students of the counseling guidance study program at Nusa Cendana University through a proportional stratified random sampling technique. The results showed that self-control in dominant students was in the low category with a percentage of 64%, while the level of phubbing behavior in dominant students was in the high category with a percentage of 76%. The results of hypothesis testing show that there is a significant influence between self-control on phubbing behavior among students. Furthermore, simple linear regression analysis obtained a coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.483 which indicates that there is an influence of self-control on phubbing behavior at 48.3% and the remaining 51.7% is thought to be influenced by other factors not examined in this study. The negative form of influence between self-control and phubbing behavior indicates that the lower the self-control of students, the higher the phubbing behavior. Recommendations for the findings of this study are discussed.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between self-perception and peer association among vocational high school students at SMK Negeri 4 Kalabahi. Using a quantitative correlational research design, data were collected from 63 students selected through proportional stratified random sampling. Two Likert-scale questionnaires, measuring self-perception and peer association, were validated for content and reliability, achieving Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.820 and 0.899, respectively. Descriptive statistics revealed that 74.6% of participants exhibited high self-perception, and 65.1% reported high peer association. Normality and linearity assumptions were met, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation indicated a low but statistically significant positive relationship between self-perception and peer association (r = 0.275, p < 0.05). The findings suggest that students with higher self-perception are more likely to engage positively with peers, although the strength of the association is modest. These results highlight the multifactorial nature of adolescent social development, where self-perception interacts with environmental, social, and personal variables. The study emphasizes the need for educational interventions that foster positive self-perceptions and supportive peer environments, contributing to improved adolescent well-being and academic engagement.

Abstract

Globally, smartphone use among adolescents, including junior high school students, has increased significantly. However, excessive use raises concerns about dependency, which may influence social interactions. A common phenomenon is that students tend to focus more on their smartphones even when engaged in group activities, thereby reducing face-to-face interactions such as greeting or joking with peers. This study aimed to examine the relationship between smartphone dependency and associative social interaction interest among junior high school students. A correlational approach was employed with a sample of 69 students selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a smartphone dependency questionnaire and an associative social interaction interest questionnaire. The findings revealed that 39.1% of students demonstrated a moderate level of smartphone dependency, while 40.6% showed a moderate level of associative social interaction interest. Product-moment correlation analysis indicated a significant positive relationship between smartphone dependency and associative social interaction interest (r = 0.424 > r table = 0.2404; p < 0.05). These results suggest that high smartphone usage does not reduce students’ social interaction interest but rather shifts the interaction pattern from direct to indirect. Adolescents tend to be more engaged in digital social interactions, which allow them to maintain connections with peers and parents. Future research is recommended to employ qualitative methods to gain deeper insights into factors influencing associative social interaction among junior high school students.

Abstract

Fatherless is the absence of a father figure in a child's life.. Fatherless also greatly affects the development of students such as the formation of self-confidence in the environment where they live. This study aims to determine: (1) Fatherless description of teenagers' self-confidence at Wolwal Senior High School in Southwest Alor, (2) Self-confidence description of teenagers at Wolwal Senior High School in Southwest Alor, (3) Fatherless influence on teenagers' self-confidence at Wolwal Senior High School in Southwest Alor. This research used quantitative approach with simple linear regression research type. This research was conducted on students of SMAN Wolwal Alor Barat Daya with a population of 187 students and a sample of 125 students. The sampling technique used is probability sampling technique with disproportionate stratified random sampling method, to determine the sample size used Slovin technique. The data collection technique used in this study was a questionnaire, namely a fatherless questionnaire (23) and a self-confidence questionnaire (33), with the scale used being a Likert scale. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and simple linear regression analysis technique with the help of SPSS software version 25. The results of this study indicate that in general fatherless students are in the middle category, namely 87 students (70%), and the self-confidence of adolescents of SMA Negeri Wolwa, Southwest Alor Regency is also in the middle category, namely 102 students (82%). The results of the analysis showed Fcount of 20.590> Fubel 3.92 (N = 125) with a significance level of 0.000 <0.05, with a diterminasi coefficient (R Square) of 0.143, which implies that fatherless affects the self-confidence of adolescents at SMA Negeri Wolwal Southwest Alor by 14, 3%, and the remaining 85.7% is influenced by other factors such as self-control, self esteem, psychological well being, learning achievement and social adjustment.

Abstract

Assertive communication is communication that is honest, direct and firm without demeaning or hurting other people’s feelings. The lack level of asertive communication that occurs among teenagers at the Aisyiyah Putri Kupang orphanage is a case that needs to be improved, because if this is allowed to continue it will have a negative impact on their social relationships. This research aims to determine the description of the group guidance process using sociodrama techniques, assertive communication and the extent of the effectiveness of group guidance using sociodrama techniques to increase the sense of assertive communication in Adolescents at the Aisyiyah Orphanage, Kupang City. This research uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental research type with a one group pre test and post test research design. This research was carried out at the Aisyiyah orphanage. The sampling technique used is method purpose sampling that is, samples are taken according to the aims and objectives of the research pretest will be given to all members of the population, totaling 36 adolescent pasticipants, from the result pretest adolescent who show intensity of the sample will be 10 adolescent. The data collection technique uses a guestionnaire. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis, hypothesis testing (difference test) with the help of the program SPSS For Windows 25 Version. The results of this research show that in general assertive communication among adolescents falls into the low category, with 16 adolescents ( 45,72%) in the low category and 1 odolescents (2,78%) in the very low category. The analusis results show that the calculated Fvalue is 30.376, which is greater than the Ftable = 2.26, with a significance level of 0,000<0,05. Based on the regression value obtained in the test, it was found that 28% of the variation is explained, the anlysis was conducted by comparing the r table value at a 5% significance level and n= 36, which is 0,329 the while remaining 72% ia influenced by other factors. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that by communicating aggressively, students are better able to express their needs, desires and feelings in a healthy way, thereby reducing the possibility of aggressive behavior that is detrimental to themselves and others.

Abstract

Vocational high schools (SMK) play a strategic role in producing graduates who are ready for work. However, students' career readiness is not only determined by technical skills, but also by their ability to plan for the future psychologically and socially. Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers have an important responsibility in assisting students to recognize their potential, set goals, and make appropriate career decisions. The research question in this study is how BK teachers play a role in preparing students' careers, what obstacles they face, and what strategies they use in providing career guidance services. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation of BK teachers at SMK Ma'arif NU Kajen. The purpose of this study is to describe the role of BK teachers, identify the obstacles that arise, and explore the strategies applied in the implementation of career services. The results of the study indicate that the role of guidance counselors includes the functions of facilitator, consultant, and character developer, although it is not yet optimal due to limitations in time, resources, and school policy support. The strategies used include individual approaches, collaboration with the Career Guidance Center (BKK), and strengthening communication with students. Career services require structural support to be more effective and sustainable.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of learning difficulties of seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Ciruas. The study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive type. The population and sample in this study are all 59 seventh grade students selected through total sampling techniques. Data were collected through a validated questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques by grouping the scores averages into categories of learning difficulty levels. The analysis results show that most students are in the moderate learning difficulty category, some are in the high category, and only a small portion are in the low category. The learning difficulties experienced by students include aspects of material comprehension, low learning motivation, and a lack of effective learning strategies. Based on these results, it is recommended that guidance and counseling teachers provide targeted services, both through classical that guidance and counseling teachers provide targeted services, both through classical guidance and individual counseling, and encourage collaboration with subject teachers to create learning that is appropriate for the students’ developmental stage. In addition, the school is advised to organize programs to improve learning abilities and create a learning environment that supports student development.

Abstract

Student engagement refers to the active involvement of students in the learning process, encompassing behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects. In reality, not all students demonstrate optimal engagement, particularly in sports-based schools where they must divide their focus between academics and physical training. This study aims to describe the level of student engagement among students of SMAN Keberbakatan Olahraga Flobamorata Kupang. This research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. The population and sample consisted of 144 students, determined through saturated sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The findings revealed that most students demonstrated a high level of student engagement, with 75 students (52%) categorized as high. In terms of behavioral engagement, 68 students (47%) were in the moderate category. Emotional engagement was predominantly high with 72 students (50%), while cognitive engagement was also largely high with 67 students (47%). It can be concluded that students generally demonstrate optimal engagement in intracurricular activities despite carrying dual roles as learners and athletes. The implication is that schools should implement interactive and varied learning methods to sustain and enhance student engagement, particularly in behavioral aspects. The limitations of this study include the timing of questionnaire administration coinciding with training schedules, the use of a try-out within the actual sample, and the absence of a reference period of events in the questionnaire.student engagement

Abstract

Verbal violence often occurs anywhere in the family, community, and educational institutions. One of them is at SMPN 4 Kupang City. The phenomenon that researchers found in the field was that there were students who committed verbal violence and there were those who became victims of verbal violence. Verbal violence is carried out in the form of making fun of friends, cursing at friends, humiliating friends and there are students who experience verbal violence in the form of shouting and cursing. This research aims to determine the efforts of guidance and counseling teachers in dealing with verbal violence in class VIII students at SMPN 4 Kupang City. The approach and type of research used in this research is qualitative, with a case study type of research. The data collection techniques used in this research are interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data validation techniques that researchers use are source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the research show that there are forms of violence carried out by students such as insulting friends, threatening friends, humiliating friends, insulting or making fun of friends (bullying), cursing friends. The reasons students commit violence are because they want to gain recognition, peer influence, and unstable emotional conditions. Efforts made by guidance and counseling teachers such us providing individual counseling services, using a personal approach, collaborating with school officials.
