Abstract

The problem of online game addiction that occurs at SMA Negeri 10 Kupang City really needs to be addressed, because it has a negative impact on students. To handle the level of student addiction to online games, assistance and guidance from various parties is needed, one of which is the role of Guidance and Counseling teachers. The aim of the research is to determine the role of Guidance and Counseling teachers in dealing with online game addiction among students at SMAN 10 Kota Kupang. This research uses qualitative research with data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 10 Kupang City. The informants for this research were 5 people consisting of 1 main informant and 4 additional informants. The technique for checking the validity of this research data uses source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the research show that the role of guidance and counseling teachers in dealing with online game addiction at SMA Negeri 10 Kupang city is to provide individual counseling services to students with problems, then make home visits to find out the factors that cause students to be addicted to online games, after that create a work program, namely following extracurricular activities and collaborating with school principals, parents and other teachers in order to control and supervise these students. This research also found the role of guidance and counseling teachers in preventing online game addiction. Counseling teachers provide classical guidance with information services to prevent students from becoming addicted to online games. From the research results it can be concluded that guidance and counseling teachers have an important role in dealing with online game addiction among students at SMA Negeri 10 Kupang city by collaborating with the school, being able to create varied programs and carrying out individual counseling and home visits as well as classical guidance.

Abstract

The process of implementing tutoring to overcome students' inability to read includes concrete steps which are classified into three stages, namely before guidance which includes case identification, problem identification and diagnosis. This stage is carried out to understand the root of students' problems in reading. During guidance, which includes a prognosis stage or a stage where alternatives are determined in overcoming the problem of a student's inability to read, where alternative problems are determined by considering the student's condition and needs. After being given guidance which includes the evaluation and follow-up stages, this stage is carried out to monitor students' progress in reading after being given tutoring services. This research aims to describe the implementation of tutoring to overcome reading disabilities in class VII students at SMP Negeri 8 Kupang. The approach and type of research used in this research is qualitative, with a case study type of research. The data collection techniques used in this research are interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data validation techniques that researchers use are source triangulation and technical triangulation. The research results show that the implementation of tutoring to overcome reading disabilities in class VII students at SMP Negeri 8 Kupang is classified into 3, namely before tutoring, during tutoring and after being given tutoring. At the stage before guidance, the guidance and counseling teacher carefully identifies cases and problems, including identifying specific difficulties experienced by students in reading, such as difficulty reading haltingly and difficulty distinguishing the same letters. Next, at the tutoring stage, the guidance counselor determines a prognosis and offers alternatives in overcoming problems. What the guidance counselor does at this stage is that the guidance counselor provides tutoring services using the individual tutoring method. In this tutoring, the guidance and counseling teacher teaches students about learning to read with vocabulary, learning to read with spelling and learning to recognize letters. Finally, at the stage after guidance, evaluation and follow-up, the guidance and counseling teacher monitors students' progress in reading using reading journals and student reading monitoring sheets at home. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that a structured and systematic approach is very important in helping students overcome their learning difficulties. By dividing the tutoring process into three stages, namely before, during, and after tutoring, counselors can effectively identify problems, determine a prognosis, and evaluate student progress.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of the workload of counseling teachers, the description of the performance of counseling teachers in alleviating student learning problems, and the effect of workload on the performance of counseling teachers in alleviating the learning problems of public high school students in East Manggarai Regency. This study used a quantitative approach with a causal comparative design. Data collection techniques used questionnaires on workload and performance of counseling teachers in alleviating student learning problems, with a combination of closed and open questions. This research was conducted in 16 public high schools in East Manggarai Regency with 20 counseling teachers as respondents. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis, analysis requirements test and hypothesis testing with the help of SPSS version 25. The results showed that (1) The workload of counseling teachers in public high schools in East Manggarai Regency is dominant in the high category. (2) The performance of counseling teachers in alleviating learning problems of public high school students in East Manggarai Regency is dominant in the medium category. (3) There is a strong and negative influence between workload on the performance of counseling teachers in alleviating learning problems of public high school students in East Manggarai Regency. This can be seen from the significance value of 0.000 <0.05, the value of (a)= 38.674, the value of (b)= -1.198, and the value of R square of 70.8%. Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that the workload of counseling teachers has a strong and negative effect on the performance of counseling teachers in alleviating learning problems of public high school students in East Manggarai Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to develop SmartCounsel, a web-based application that integrates Total Quality Management (TQM) principles to improve the quality of school counselling programmes. The research methodology used a comprehensive literature review to identify best practices and challenges in the implementation of TQM and educational technology. The study results show that SmartCounsel can overcome obstacles in counselling services with automation features for scheduling, monitoring and real-time feedback. The app supports hybrid counselling (online and face-to-face) and enables active engagement of students, teachers and parents, relevant to post-pandemic needs. The findings emphasise that implementing TQM in a digital platform not only improves service efficiency but also promotes continuous improvement. The study recommends further research to examine the impact of SmartCounsel on student learning outcomes and the effectiveness of counselling programs in various educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the optimization of open-mindedness characteristics in enhancing students' critical thinking skills, in alignment with the achievement of the Profil Pelajar Pancasila (Pancasila Student Profile). Using a qualitative approach with a literature review methodology, the research identifies various theories and practices that link open-mindedness with critical thinking. The analysis reveals that open-mindedness, which includes openness to new ideas and diverse perspectives, plays a crucial role in developing critical thinking skills. Students with this characteristic tend to be better at evaluating arguments, considering multiple viewpoints, and making more informed decisions. Furthermore, this study highlights strategies for fostering open-mindedness within the educational context, particularly in guidance and counseling, such as group discussions, project-based learning, role-playing, simulation games, and the integration of technology-based tools like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). The findings are expected to contribute to the development of a more effective and inclusive curriculum, supporting the achievement of national educational goals to produce a generation that is not only knowledgeable but also character-driven and competitive. This study recommends the need for training educators and counselors to apply methods that foster the development of open-mindedness among students..

Abstract

This research aims to determine the description of the group guidance process using sociodrama techniques, empathy and the extent of the effectiveness of group guidance using sociodrama techniques to increase the sense of empathy of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 16 Kupang. This research uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental research type with a one group pre test and post test research design. This research was carried out at SMP Negeri 16 Kupang. The sampling technique used is the purposive sampling method, namely the sample is taken according to the aims and objectives of the research, where a pre-test will be given to the entire population of 180 students, from the results of the pre-test students who show low empathy will be used as a sample, namely 10 students. The data collection technique uses an empathy and observation scale. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis, Mann Whitney hypothesis testing with the help of the SPSS For Windows 25Version program. The results of this research show that there is an increase in students' sense of empathy after being provided with group guidance services using sociodrama techniques. This is proven by the difference in the mean score before being given treatment, 5.50 and the mean score after being given treatment, 15.50. Apart from that, the Asymp value is obtained. Sig. (2-tailed) in the Mann Whitney hypothesis test is 0.000 < 0.05, which means Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Thus, it shows that group guidance services using sociodrama techniques can increase the sense of empathy of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 16 Kupang.

Abstract

Politeness is considered important in social life, but it is often overlooked. Politeness in the school environment is very important in creating a comfortable and respectful learning environment. This research aims to provide insight into how guidance and counseling teachers can play a role in improving student politeness. In this study, we use a mix of research methods, namely qualitative research methods and quantitative research methods. This study results that the norms of good manners are formed from daily community interactions, but often students violate them due to the influence of promiscuity. It is important for the school and related parties to make politeness the main value in students' daily lives. The role of counseling guidance teachers is very important in accompanying students through a personal approach, but the limited time at school and the character of students who have been formed at home are the main obstacles. Therefore, synergy between teachers and parents is urgently needed to ensure that the value of politeness is applied consistently both at school and at home. This research concludes that with joint efforts, it is hoped that the values of politeness can be firmly embedded in students and make them individuals with noble character. This research contributes to providing a foundation for schools regarding the importance of improving student politeness through counseling guidance programs

Abstract

Self-regulation is an individual's ability to accept and control themselves so that the goals they have set can be achieved. However, in reality there are still students who are unable to control themselves in fulfilling their needs and desires so that consumptive behavior among students is dominantly high. Consumptive behavior is a person's tendency to buy excessively and is based on desire. This research aims to determine (1) a description of the self-regulation of students in the Guidance and Counseling study program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Nusa Cendana University, (2) a description of consumer behavior of students in the Guidance and Counseling study program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Nusa Cendana University, (3) whether or not there is a relationship between self-regulation and consumer behavior of students in the Guidance and Counseling study program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Nusa Cendana University. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive research type. The population in this research were students of the Guidance Counseling study program with a total of 470 students. The sampling technique was proportional stratified random sampling so that the sample consisted of 216 students. Data collection used a questionnaire with 50 items containing favorite and unfavorable items. The results of the research show: (1) the picture of student self-regulation is dominant in the high category, namely 53%, (2) the picture of student consumptive behavior is dominant in the low category, namely 48%, (3) there is a negative relationship between self-regulation and consumptive behavior in students with Pearson correlation -0.554 > 0.138. This research provides a contribution in the form of suggestions for students, the Guidance and Counseling study program, and future researchers regarding self-regulation and consumer behavior.

Abstract

The phenomenon of consumerist behavior among students is increasingly becoming a major concern, especially with the influence of the Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) phenomenon. FOMO can drive individuals to engage in consumerist behavior, namely buying goods or services that are not needed just to avoid the feeling of missing out on experiences or information that is considered important. This study aims to examine the prevalence of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) and consumptive behavior among Guidance and Counseling students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Nusa Cendana University, and to determine the relationship between FOMO and consumptive behavior. This research employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational study design. The research was conducted on students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at the Faculty of Teacher and Education (FKIP) at Nusa Cendana University, with a population of 245 students and a sample of 116. The data collection technique uses questionnaires with the likert scale. The data analysis techniques employed were descriptive analysis and correlation analysis using the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 software. The findings revealed that 55% of the students exhibited moderate levels of Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO), while 53% exhibited moderate levels of consumptive behavior. The Pearson product-moment correlation analysis indicated a positive correlation between FOMO and consumptive behavior, with an rxy value of 0.597. Furthermore, the correlation significance test demonstrated a significant relationship between FOMO and consumptive behavior among Guidance and Counseling students at FKIP Nusa Cendana University as evidenced by the value of r-count > r-table 0, 5970 > 0,2404.

Abstract

The type of research is correlational which aims to determine the significance of the relationship between self-efficacy in career decision making and career planning in class XII students of SMK N 1 Klego Boyolali. The type of research used in this study is quantitative correlational research. The research sample was all class XII students of SMK N 1 Klego Boyolali totaling 264 students, divided into 5 majors, namely: mechanical engineering, electrical installation engineering, fashion design, construction and property business and building drawing information design. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling technique. Data collection used 2 instruments, namely: career decision making self-efficacy scale (25 items, α = 0.869) and career planning scale (24 items, α = 0.885). Hypothesis testing in this study used regression analysis techniques. Based on the regression correlation test, the rxy value was obtained = 0.593; with Þ=0.000 (Þ<0.05), so there is a positive relationship between self-efficacy in career decision making and career planning in grade XII students of SMK N 1 Klego Boyolali. This means that self-efficacy in career decision making contributes 35.1% to career planning. The results of this study are very relevant because they can strengthen theoretical studies and phenomena of the relationship between self-efficacy variables in career decision making and career planning. Further research recommendations can test the correlation of self-efficacy in career decision making with different variables.
