Abstract

This research aims to determine the optimal use of production factors such as land area, labor and costs to increase the quantity of sweet potato production. This research was conducted in Kampung Webi using 30 sample farmers. Data were analyzed using Cobb-Douglas multiple regression then continued using SPSS. The results of the research concluded that together these factors influence sweet potato production, and these factors are able to explain sweet potato production of 17.57kg/season. Partially, the production factors that have a real influence are land area and cost of sweet potatoes. one food crop as a substitute for the staple food (rice). Sweet potatoes can grow both in the lowlands and in the mountains with a temperature of 270c and a light period of 11-12 hours per day (Soemartono, 1984). According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (Depdikbud: 1995: 628) optimization comes from the basic word optimal which means best and highest. So optimization is a process of improving or improving. Hysocc, (2014) said that optimization is a process to achieve ideal results or optimization (the effective value that can be achieved). According to Sofyan, (2015) production is all activities in creating and increasing the utility of goods and services, for activities where production factors are needed in economics in the form of land, labor and skills (organizational, managerial and skills).

Abstract

This research aims to analyze corn farming, influencing production factors, determine the level of allocative efficiency and income received by farmers in one planting season in Sumber Boga Village, Masni District, Manokwari Regency. The selection of research locations was carried out deliberately (purposive sampling) with the consideration that the area was a corn production center. The analytical methods used are linear regression analysis of corn with the Cobb-Douglass function, allocative efficiency analysis, and farmer income analysis. The research results show that simultaneously, all X variables influence corn production. Meanwhile, partially, the land area and fertilizer variables have an effect on corn production, the seed, labor and pesticide variables have no effect on corn production. The regression results show that the adjusted R2 value is 0.968 or 96.8%. This means that 96.8% of corn production is explained by variable X, while 3.2% is explained by other variables. The results of the allocative efficiency analysis show that seeds, pesticides, land, labor and fertilizer are inefficient. The research results show that the average cost of running a corn farm is Rp 1,908,927 and revenue is Rp 3,160,000, so the income received by farmers is Rp 1,251,073.

Abstract

The taro farming branch activities carried out by the community in Sauf village, South Ayamaru District have been carried out for a long time and have been done regularly and passed down from generation to generation. This is because the role of taro is quite significant for farming families from an economic perspective and the food security of farming families. Thus, this research aims to determine the level of income and efficiency of the taro farming branch. The method used in this research is a descriptive method with a survey approach. The survey was conducted to determine the research location, namely Sauf Village, Ayamaru District and to determine the research subjects, namely taro farmers, who were taken using a simple random method. Primary data obtained through questionnaire-based interviews with 30 farmers was processed tabulatedly and analyzed using the B/C ratio. The research results show that the total income of taro farmers in one planting season is IDR 13,083,833 with an average per capita income of Rp. 436.128. To fullfill food needs, farming families use half of their production for family food. Furthermore, regarding the efficiency of the taro farming branch, the efficiency value of the taro farming branch is 3.10, which shows that the taro farming branch carried out by farmers in Sauf Village, South Ayamaru District is efficient. Efficiency occurs due to the use of relatively low variable costs, namely only transportation costs to the market, while the selection of seeds is taken from the plants before harvest, and there is no hired labor.

Abstract

Unemployment is still a big problem in Indonesia is the problem of unemployment. High levels of unemployment can have a direct impact on various aspects of life, especially economic aspects. Therefore, the aim of this research was to determine the relationship the role of the agricultural sector and the unemployment rate between two decades after reformation order in Indonesia. The data source used was secondary data which obtained from the Southeast Sulawesi Central Statistics Agency of Indonesia. The research method used was a quantitative descriptive approach which is scatter plot pattern analysis techniques and bivariate correlation analysis with time series data for 1998-2020. The research results show the pattern of unemployment growth and agricultural economic growth from the scatter plot results, namely Y = -10,348x + 38,356, which means the trendline is negative with an R2 value of 0.5046 or 50.46%, which means the agricultural sector plays an important role in labor absorption. Furthermore, bivariate correlation results show a significance value between unemployment and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the agricultural sector of 0.0001 < 0.05 and a correlation index value of 0.710 with a negative sign. This value is smaller than the value of 0.5, which means that the agricultural sector plays a role in reducing unemployment in Indonesia. The results of a comparison of the role of the agricultural sector in unemployment between decades show that the agricultural sector is increasingly responsive to absorb labor and it potentially to reduce the unemployment rate in Indonesia.

Abstract

Food is the most important basic human need. Without food, human life will end by itself. Sufficient quality food for all people is a challenge that is not easy. The approach taken to increase food production is intensification. The agricultural intensification program in Indonesia is five farming efforts which include (1) the use of superior seeds; (2) land processing; (3) fertilization; (4) pest and disease control; and (5) irrigation. Desay Village is one of the villages in Prafi District which is a rice production center that has implemented five farming businesses. The aim of this research is to analyze the level of implementation of five farming businesses in Desay Village, Prafi District. This research is descriptive research with a case study method, as the case in this research is the implementation of five lowland rice farming businesses in Kampung Desay. Respondents were taken in this research using a random sampling method. The implementation of five farming activities in Kampung Desay is already in the high category, but land processing, fertilization and pest control activities are still in the medium category. This is because farmers carry out land processing, fertilization and pest control that are not in accordance with the guidelines for lowland rice cultivation. Recommendations that can be given to improve this condition are to increase subsidies for land processing equipment (tractors) for each farmer group so that land processing can be carried out on time, then provide fertilizer subsidies to farmers so that fertilization can be done in the right dose and on time, as well as the need for counseling on farmers to carry out integrated pest control.

Abstract

Social integration in agricultural environments occurs when farmers form farmer groups to collaborate in farming activities, processing results, and marketing. Through these farmer groups, members can support each other, share information, and collectively improve farmers' welfare. A concrete example of this integration within farmer groups is collaboration in agricultural activities; group members often work together on various farming tasks, such as planting, caring for crops, and harvesting. This study aims to identify the factors influencing integration within farmer groups in Masni District. The research was conducted over a month, from April to May 2024. The research location was chosen based on an initial survey showing that there are group members from Papua, NTT, and Java living together and interacting in the village. The research method used is Explanatory. Based on the research results conducted in Wariori Village, the integration process among farmer group members impacts forms of integration such as crosscultural marriages. This is because group members mix, facilitating and smoothing social adaptation, which eventually leads to tolerant social relationships and interactions within the community as expected. The community's ability to build good relationships positively affects interactions in the village environment, allowing integration between the two groups to proceed harmoniously and with tolerance. In their farming activities, farmers also interact with each other, gathering and blending to achieve common goals and interests through discussions or sharing experiences related to land management and cultivation activities.
