Abstract

Competent human resources (HR) are essential for every organization, including travel businesses. HR plays a strategic role in generating ideas and innovations to achieve competitive advantage. Community service activities were conducted at Call Me Travel (CMT), a travel business located in Malang, East Java. The problem was that the owner and staff of CMT struggled to maintain market share amidst fierce competition in the tourism industry. Therefore, this community service activity aimed to provide understanding and training to the owner and staff of CMT on how to strategize for a sustainable and competitive business. The community service activity was completed in several stages: preparation, training, and direct mentoring to the target market. In this community service activity, CMT was presented with one business strategy, inclusive tourism, by managing consumers with disabilities. The results of the community service activity showed that after the training and mentoring, the owner and staff of CMT were brave enough to explore new markets, using the concept of inclusive tourism. This market has the potential to grow considering that the right to travel is a right of all humans, including people with disabilities. The owner and staff of CMT have additional competencies, designing tourism marketing strategies using the business model canvas strategy and compiling tourism information in the form of brochures using canvas.

Abstract

Sustainable development in the digital age requires women’s participation in technology, innovation, and leadership. However, a gender gap exists in access to technology education and the development of digital competencies, particularly for young women. Therefore, Telkom University and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) are implementing a community engagement-based community service program to support women’s empowerment through gender education, technology literacy—particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI)—and leadership development. The program will take place from May 5 to 11, 2026, targeting university students, young women, as well as female students and teachers at SMK Al-Amah Sindulang. Activities included a Studium Generale on gender policy and technology, an AI introduction workshop and hands-on practice with AI tools, as well as the Youth Leadership Academy. Program evaluation was conducted using a Likert-scale questionnaire and open-ended questions. The evaluation results show that the majority of participants responded positively, with 93% stating that the material was relevant to the event’s theme, 87% rating the timing as appropriate, 70.2% strongly agreeing that similar events should continue, and 76% strongly agreeing that AI literacy programs should be held again. In addition, participants also demonstrated an increased understanding of gender equality, technology literacy, and leadership, and showed a high level of interest in the development of digital technology particularly AI and future-ready skills. This program supports SDG 4, SDG 5, SDG 8, and SDG 17 by promoting digital literacy, empowering women, developing future-ready skills, and fostering international collaboration in education- and technology-based community engagement

Abstract

The simultaneous Village Head Elections (Pilkades) have the potential to trigger social fragmentation, community polarization, and the spread of digital disinformation at the village level. This situation poses a significant challenge in maintaining social cohesion ahead of the 2027 simultaneous Pilkades in Jombang Regency. This community service activity aims to strengthen the civic resilience of village communities through the implementation of the Deliberative Civic Resilience Model (DCRM) in Perak District, Jombang Regency. The activity is carried out using a community-based participatory approach through deliberative forums, contextual digital literacy, social conflict simulations, and behavior-based nudge approaches. Participants include students, youth, community leaders, Linmas members and village community representatives as strategic actors in maintaining social resilience at the local level. Evaluation was carried out through simple measurements using pre-tests and post-tests, observation, and participatory reflection by the participants. The evaluation results showed an increase in participants understanding of potential Pilkades conflicts from 61% to 90%, understanding of the dangers of digital misinformation from 58% to 92%, and understanding of the importance of maintaining social cohesion through communication and dialogue from 64% to 93%. In addition, the deliberative forum successfully created a more inclusive space for dialogue, while the conflict simulation helped participants understand the importance of resolving conflicts through communication and deliberation. Abstract

Field Work Practice (PKL) is a form of experiential learning aimed at improving students’ understanding of public service practices directly. This community service article aims to describe the strengthening of public service literacy for students of Public Administration through PKL activities at the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office of Ternate City. The methods used in this activity include mentoring, field observation, participation in administrative service processes, and evaluative discussions between students and field supervisors. The results of the activity indicate that students gained an increased understanding of public service procedures, service ethics, licensing administration, as well as the application of transparency and accountability principles in government bureaucracy. In addition, PKL activities were also able to improve students’ communication skills, discipline, and adaptability to the public service work environment. Abstract

This community service activity took the form of training for Bible facilitators and a deepening of Lectio Divina for administrators of the Basic Faith Group (KUB) and the parish congregation at Sta. Maria Bunda Orang Miskin Noelmina Parish. This activity was motivated by the congregation's need for more focused faith guidance, particularly in understanding and living out the Bible contextually. The request for this training was submitted by the Parish Priest in response to the current state of catechesis at the community level, which still faces limitations in Bible deepening methods. The activity was carried out over two days through lectures, interactive discussions, and small group practice. The material provided included an understanding of the role and responsibilities of Bible facilitators and an in-depth understanding of the Lectio Divina method, which consists of the stages of lectio, meditation, oratio, contemplatio, and action. Participants not only received theoretical material but also practiced directly in groups, guided by a team of trainers, using predetermined Bible texts. The results of the activity demonstrated an increase in participants' understanding of the Lectio Divina method and their ability to practice it in groups through a more focused and reflective faith-sharing process. Participants also demonstrated a readiness to apply the method in catechetical activities at the Community Service Center (KUB) and in their respective communities. Their enthusiasm and active participation throughout the activity demonstrated that this method is relevant and easily applicable in the lives of the congregation. Thus, this activity encourages the development of a more participatory, contextual, and Scripture-based catechesis. The sustainability of this program is expected to further strengthen the faith of the congregation at the grassroots level.

Abstract

The development of export-oriented entrepreneurial capacity among university students is increasingly important in responding to global trade opportunities. However, many students still lack adequate understanding of export concepts, regulatory procedures, and practical strategies for entering international markets. This community engagement activity was carried out through the Campus Exporter Academy (CEA) to strengthen students’ knowledge and readiness in export-oriented entrepreneurship. The activity was implemented in collaboration with the Malang Customs Office and delivered through an interactive material session covering fundamental export concepts, the strategic role of Customs as a trade facilitator, potential global market opportunities, the 6P principles of export preparation, and available customs facilities. The method included lectures, discussions, and a question-and-answer session, with indicators of success assessed from students’ participation, interaction, and their increased understanding of export mechanisms. The results show that students experienced higher awareness of export opportunities, better comprehension of customs procedures, and growing motivation to develop export-oriented business ideas. These findings highlight the importance of continuous student capacity-building programs and the need to develop more advanced and sustainable learning modules in the future.
