Abstract

The Balai Kaliki Traditional Village has a local commodity, namely the kaliki fruit, which is considered a legacy from its ancestors. However, its utilization is currently not optimal, and much of the harvest often goes to waste. This community service program aims to optimize the use of kaliki fruit by developing downstream products with economic value. The method applied is the Community-Based Research (CBR) approach, consisting of four stages: laying the foundation, planning, information gathering/analysis, and acting on findings, with an emphasis on active community participation. The activity plan includes mapping community knowledge and awareness, conducting socialization and training on kaliki fruit processing, and establishing local leaders and business groups. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were conducted to identify problems, explore aspirations, and collectively design alternative solutions in line with community needs. Problem-solving was carried out through the “tree of hope” framework, which involved socialization programs, practical processing activities, leader identification, and the formation of business groups. The results show that downstreaming kaliki fruit can serve as a new source of income, strengthen cultural identity, and support tourism development in Balai Kaliki Traditional Village. The implications of this program extend beyond improving the local economy, as they also open opportunities for marketing processed products as regional souvenirs, extend the shelf life of kaliki fruit, and encourage the sustainability of the creative business ecosystem in Payakumbuh.

Abstract

The increasing volume of organic waste and its limited utilization as an economic resource remain major environmental and social challenges at the local level. The green economy concept offers a development approach that emphasizes resource efficiency, environmental sustainability, and community welfare improvement. This Community Service Program aims to implement green economy principles through the development of the Magost business (Maggot Block Black Soldier Fly) as an alternative model for value-added organic waste management. The method applied was an educational approach through workshops, including material delivery, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice in Black Soldier Fly cultivation and maggot processing into Magost. The activity was conducted on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Bone campus, involving students and the target community. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills related to organic waste management, BSF cultivation, and Magost production as an environmentally friendly product. Active community participation during the workshops reflects strong interest and the potential sustainability of the program. The implications of this activity include the creation of green economy–based business opportunities, increased environmental awareness, and the establishment of an initial Magost business model that can be further developed. Overall, this community service program demonstrates that an educational workshop-based approach is effective in encouraging the implementation of a community-based green economy.

Abstract

Dampit Village, Malang Regency, is one of the major coffee-producing centers that generates a large amount of coffee waste in the form of residual coffee grounds, which has not been optimally utilized. At the same time, the growing green beauty trend among Generation Z presents an opportunity to transform organic waste into economically valuable cosmetic products. This community service program aimed to improve community knowledge, skills, and awareness in processing coffee grounds into premium body scrubs based on the concepts of green beauty and upcycling. The program was implemented using a hands-on training approach involving 30 participants consisting of coffee farmers and housewives. Evaluation was conducted through pretest and posttest assessments covering five main indicators: understanding the benefits of coffee grounds, hygienic principles, scrub formulation techniques, green beauty and upcycling concepts, and comprehension of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for coffee scrub production. The effectiveness of the program was analyzed using the N-Gain test. The results showed a significant improvement across all indicators, with an N-Gain value of 0.733, classified as high. This activity not only enhanced participants’ knowledge and skills but also encouraged socio-cultural attitude changes toward waste utilization and opened opportunities for sustainable, local resource–based business development. The program has the potential to serve as a model for community empowerment based on a circular economy in coffee-producing regions.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) requires teachers to possess competencies that include conceptual understanding, skills in using various AI-based applications, and ethical awareness in its implementation. However, teachers' ability to integrate AI technology into learning is still limited. This community service activity aims to enhance teachers' AI literacy through workshops, collaborative practices, and case study-based reflections using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The program was conducted at SDN 008 Sangatta Utara, Kutai Timur, with the stages of look, think, act, reflect, and revise. The material includes an introduction to AI concepts, exploration of applications such as ChatGPT, Magic School, and Wayground, as well as the application of AI in lesson planning and assessment. The results of the activities show an increase in participants' conceptual understanding, technical skills, and ethical awareness in using AI. Teachers are also able to develop learning media, formative assessments, and digital learning tools more effectively and adaptively. These findings indicate that strengthening AI literacy contributes to the enhancement of pedagogical competence, productivity, and teachers' readiness to face the digital education transformation in a critical, creative, and responsible manner.

Abstract

The presence of oil and gas (oil and gas) storage facilities near residential areas often raises public concerns regarding potential hazards and environmental impacts. This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to educate residents in Cepu Regency about the importance of Quality and Quantity (Q&Q) processes and the implementation of Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (K3) standards in oil and gas terminal storage facilities. The activity included interactive presentations using comprehensive infographics, discussions, and live Q&A sessions facilitated by the PkM team from PEM Akamigas. This visual and dialogic approach was used to simplify the understanding of technical oil and gas operational terminology for the general public. The results of this outreach activity demonstrated a significant increase in public literacy and understanding. Residents who were previously skeptical or anxious now understand that strict Quality Control (QC) processes prevent product contamination, while Quantity Measurement (QT) ensures fair energy distribution. Furthermore, the public became aware that the implementation of disciplined OHS procedures—such as fire extinguisher operation, early detection, and evacuation routes—was professionally designed solely to protect residents' safety and prevent environmental pollution. In conclusion, this community service activity, implemented in 2025, succeeded in building positive perceptions and a sense of security within the community. This activity effectively transformed concerns into trust in the operational standards of the oil and gas storage industry, while emphasizing the importance of transparent communication among industry, scientists, and the public to support safe and sustainable energy stability.

Abstract

Rengginang is a traditional Indonesian snack that is still produced using simple and labor-intensive methods, resulting in limited productivity and product quality. In addition, the widespread use of synthetic food colorants may pose health risks, highlighting the need for safer natural alternatives. This community service program aimed to improve the production of traditional snacks in Sangging Traditional Village, Kusamba, Klungkung, by utilizing extract from red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) peel as a natural food colorant. The program involved 5 community partners who participated in educational activities, practical training, technical assistance, and received supporting equipment, including a uli slicer, a rengginang molding machine, and a plastic sealing machine. The peel extract was prepared using the maceration method with 10% citric acid as the solvent for four days at room temperature. The extraction produced a 45% yield, an anthocyanin content of 38.33 mg/100 g, and an antioxidant activity of 80.13%, demonstrating the potential of red dragon fruit peel extract as a healthier alternative to synthetic food colorants. The integration of natural food coloring with appropriate production technology improved product quality and production efficiency. Overall, the program demonstrates that utilizing red dragon fruit peel waste can support safer food production, add economic value to agricultural by-products, and strengthen the competitiveness of traditional snack enterprises in Sangging Traditional Village.
