Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat merupakan jurnal pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang menjadi wadah ilmiah untuk pengabdian, dengan nomor terdaftar E-ISSN. KOMUNITA adalah jurnal multidisiplin ilmiah yang diterbitkan oleh PELITA NUSA TENGGARA. Penerbitan jurnal ini akan dilakukan dalam satu tahun, mulai tahun 2022 terbit sebanyak dua kali terbit yaitu pada bulan Februari dan Agustus. Abstract

Community service activities are one of the ways in which the Tri Dharma of Higher Education is put into practice, aiming to make a tangible contribution to improving the quality of life in the community. One group in particular that requires special attention is the elderly, especially as they face the challenges of global communication and literacy in the digital age. As a concrete manifestation of this, a community service activity themed “English for the Elderly” was held on 25 April 2026 as part of the Halal Bi Halal celebrations at the BAHTERA School for the Elderly, Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta Raya. This activity aimed to enhance the elderly’s motivation to learn, basic English communication skills, and social participation through a communicative and enjoyable learning approach. The implementation method utilised a participatory approach comprising the following stages: needs identification, delivery of materials, simple communication practice, educational games, and activity evaluation. Participants in the activity consisted of elderly individuals actively participating in the BAHTERA Elderly School programme. The results of the programme indicate that participants showed great enthusiasm for learning basic English, particularly in relation to greetings, self-introductions, everyday conversation and simple vocabulary relevant to daily life. In addition to improving language skills, the programme also had a positive impact on the elderly participants’ self-confidence, social interaction and motivation for lifelong learning. An evaluation of the programme showed that interactive teaching methods and a humanistic approach were effective in creating a comfortable learning environment for the elderly. It is hoped that this activity will serve as a model for the development of community-based foreign language learning programmes for elderly groups in Indonesia.

Abstract

This community service activity is motivated by the importance of instilling character values ​​and cultural identity from an early age through literacy. The main focus of this activity is mentoring the design of picture story books based on Ngada local wisdom at the TKK Negeri Bajawa. The solutions offered in this program are comprehensively designed to systematically address these problems. The output targets to be achieved in this community service activity include the production of a prototype picture story book based on Ngada local wisdom that is ready to be printed and can be directly used as teaching materials in the classroom. The implementation method used is a participatory workshop and ongoing mentoring. The activity stages begin with a needs analysis and inventory of cultural values, followed by intensive training sessions on scriptwriting and digital illustration techniques. Active participation of partners is strongly emphasized, where teachers are directly involved as content creators from the planning stage to finalization. This program is expected to strengthen cultural literacy while enriching the treasury of PAUD learning media in Ngada Regency. The results of the community service activity show that this mentoring program is able to improve teachers' understanding and skills in designing picture story books based on local wisdom. The teacher participants in the training successfully drafted several story scripts highlighting Ngada cultural values ​​such as mutual cooperation, respect for nature, and local traditions relevant to the lives of young children. Furthermore, the teachers gained basic skills in using simple design applications to create engaging digital illustrations that align with the learning characteristics of early childhood.

Abstract

The massive development of financial technology (fintech) provides easy access to transactions for the younger generation, but on the other hand, it has the potential to trigger consumptive behavior and the risk of digital debt if not balanced with adequate financial literacy. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to improve financial literacy understanding and control the consumptive behavior of grade X students at SMK Kristen Petra Surabaya as a preventive strategy for debt avoidance. The methods used in this program include interactive counseling using PowerPoint presentation media, simulations of financial management and Time Value of Money (TVM) calculations based on Microsoft Excel, and the implementation of gamification methods through financial literacy quartet card games. The results of the activity involving 34 students showed a significant increase in the partner's awareness and qualitative capacity. Students were actively engaged in two-way discussion sessions, capable of identifying scale priorities between needs and wants, and showed indications of behavioral changes in the form of initiating daily expenditure recording and saving. The implication of this activity is the availability of interactive learning modules and educational quartet cards handed over to the school as a tool for sustainable independent financial education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of adult education-based training in strengthening the understanding of Rakut Sitelu values among members of the Karo Student Association (IMKA) at Medan State University. The study employed a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory sequential design. The qualitative phase was conducted through observations and interviews with four informants selected using purposive sampling to identify participants’ learning needs. The quantitative phase involved administering pre-tests and post-tests to ten training participants. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively using percentages and gain scores, while qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the average pre-test score of 10.0% increased to 86.25% in the post-test, resulting in a gain score of 76.25 points. Improvements were observed across indicators of Rakut Sitelu understanding, application of social values, learning experiences, and cultural relevance. These findings indicate that the andragogical approach, which emphasizes active participation, experiential learning, discussion, and reflection, supports more meaningful cultural learning. The novelty of this study lies in the application of local culture-based adult education as a strategy for strengthening Rakut Sitelu values among university students. This research contributes to the development of adult education studies and offers an alternative approach to preserving local cultural values among younger generations.

Abstract

This community service was conducted at the Bangkalan Regency Inspectorate with the aim of improving the accuracy and efficiency of the local government financial report review process using Microsoft Excel based on inter-sheet links. Partners faced problems with the process of processing and summarizing financial data, which was still done manually, which could lead to input errors, data discrepancies between reports, and yields. This activity was carried out in several stages, including identifying the problem, creating a Microsoft Excel format based on inter-sheet links, teaching how to use Microsoft Excel, conducting a simulation of a local government financial report review, and evaluating the results. The mentoring focused on the use of formulas and data connectivity between sheets to make the process of processing, validating, and consolidating financial report data easier. The results of the activity showed that the implementation of Microsoft Excel based on inter-sheet links can improve the efficiency of the local government financial report review process. This was evidenced by faster data recapitulation speed, lower input error rates, and better data consistency between financial reports. This activity also improves employee understanding and skills on how information technology can help manage financial data more efficiently and accurately. Therefore, the use of Microsoft Excel based on inter-sheet links can help the process of reviewing local government financial reports more efficiently, clearly, and accountably. By using more optimal information technology, this activity is expected to help improve regional financial governance.

Abstract

Empowering Students to Improve Arabic Learning in Madrasah Diniyah. This community service program aimed to improve Arabic learning at Madrasah Diniyah Tanwirul Futuh, Sebandung Village, Sukorejo District, Pasuruan Regency, through student empowerment and teacher mentoring. The program used Participatory Rural Appraisal by involving the head of the madrasah, teachers, and students from grades 1 to 6 in problem mapping, lesson design, classroom implementation, and reflective evaluation. The intervention emphasized contextual mufradat, simple hiwar, language games, group work, short text reading, and preparation of a simple Arabic learning module. The results showed stronger student participation, better confidence in pronouncing and using Arabic expressions, more varied teaching practices among teachers, and reusable teaching materials. The program indicates that empowerment-based mentoring can shift Arabic learning from teacher-centered instruction to a more communicative, enjoyable, and sustainable learning culture. Its implication is a replicable mentoring design for similar nonformal Islamic education institutions in rural communities.

Abstract

Insomnia is not classified as a disease, but rather a symptom of an underlying condition or a result of problems experienced by a person in daily activities. Insomnia also hinders the body's recovery process, causing rapid fatigue and excessive drowsiness during the day. In addition, sleep disorders can cause decreased thinking and working speed, weakened memory, reduced productivity, and participation in social activities can also decrease. One technique often used is Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) or gradual muscle relaxation. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the application of progressive muscle relaxation techniques in helping to reduce insomnia in Lepasan Village, Bakumpai District. The implementation of the education and training program on progressive muscle relaxation took place on May 18, 2026, involving 35 residents of Lepasan Village, Bakumpai District. The activity began with an observation of the participants' insomnia levels using the Insomnia Rating Scale questionnaire. It was followed by an opening ceremony and an explanation of the purpose and intent of this activity. This program consists of two main parts: 1) a 10-minute presentation on insomnia, and 2) a 15-25-minute progressive muscle relaxation training session. The teaching methods used include lectures and discussions. The media used was a booklet containing information about insomnia and a progressive muscle relaxation movement guide for participants. The results showed a decrease in insomnia levels for 7 days after the progressive muscle relaxation intervention was implemented. The final results showed that 25 respondents did not experience insomnia, 7 respondents experienced mild insomnia, and 3 respondents experienced severe insomnia.

Abstract

Literasi keuangan merupakan suatu materi yang perlu didalami sejak dini untuk mempersiapkan seorang individu bagi masa depan. Kurangnya penerapan materi dalam kurikulum menjadi kekhawatiran bagi kami terutama bagi siswa-siswi di tingkat pendidikan SMA. Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat yang kami lakukan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi keuangan di tingkat pendidikan SMA melalui penyampaian materi investasi emas dan teknologi finansial. Dalam penelitian yang kami telah lakukan, kami menggunakan metode kuantitatif dalam bentuk survei yang ditujukan kepada 20 siswa-siswi SMA Stella Maris Surabaya. Secara kualitatif, hasil dari rangkaian kegiatan kami menunjukkan adanya semangat belajar siswa-siswi. Hal ini dibuktikan melalui sebagian besar dari mereka yang mencatat materi yang kami sampaikan. Secara kuantitatif, survei kami menunjukkan nilai rata-rata kepuasan berdasarkan 11 aspek sebesar 3.66 dengan skala Likert 4 poin. Secara keseluruhan, telah terbukti bahwa kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat yang kami lakukan telah berjalan dengan sukses dan sesuai dengan tujuan awal, yaitu untuk meningkatkan literasi keuangan siswa-siswi di bangku SMA.

Abstract

Understanding of money management is crucial for adolescence, especially in this generation. With the recent surge in technology, trends and marketing techniques also shift. This became a new threat towards the younger generations, as now they are faced with the temptation of sales bundles, promotions, and money lending. This led to a crisis in their money savings and management. This activity was conducted due to the ever-increasing lack of awareness of money management in younger generations. By spreading awareness of money management to adolescence, proper financial management and safety is more guaranteed for them. This activity used four stages in conducting the events: material presentation, question and answer session, discussion session, as well as a game and bonding session. Materials brought in this activity are but not limited to the importance of money, money management techniques, difference between wants and needs, as well as how to control spendings. This activity is shown as a success as students are shown to have a better understanding of proper money management by the end of the activity

Abstract

Investment is an activity of investing capital or funds in a financial instrument. Limited financial literacy, particularly among Generation Z, is an obstacle to making correct investment decisions. This Community Service Program aims to improve understanding of the basic concepts of investment, types of instruments, as well as the benefits and risks that may occur. The target of this activity is high school students, with a total of 60 participants. The method used was through interactive discussions, such as question and answer sessions and completing quizzes. The results of the activity showed that participants experienced an increase in their interest in starting to invest.
