Abstract

The principle of non-intervention is the main foundation in international relations that affirms the prohibition of interference by other countries in the domestic affairs of a country. However, increasingly complex global dynamics, especially related to the increasing humanitarian crises such as genocide, ethnic cleansing, and systematic human rights violations have raised serious challenges to the absolutism of the principle. This article aims to analyze how the principle of non-intervention is normatively reinterpreted in the practices and actions of the United Nations (UN), especially through the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine. Using a juridical-normative approach and case studies of interventions in Rwanda, Kosovo, and Syria, this study reveals a shift in the meaning of non-intervention from an absolute prohibition to a limited allowance for humanitarian protection. This finding confirms that in conditions of extreme humanitarian crises, the legitimacy of international action is not only measured by state sovereignty, but also by the moral and international legal obligations to protect civilians. The UN, as a multilateral actor, plays a key role in balancing the principle of non-intervention with humanitarian imperatives, thus giving rise to dynamic and contextual normative reinterpretations.

Abstract

This study examines a crucial problem that occurred on board the MT. Nectar, namely air contamination in the lubricating oil of the Cargo Oil Pump Turbine COPT, which is a critical system in supporting the download and unloading process of crude oil. This contamination resulted in a significant decrease in pump performance, increasing the risk of malfunction that impacts equipment safety and the operational efficiency of the ship. This problem not only has a technical impact, but also requires proper maintenance management handling. Using a qualitative approach through direct observation, interviews with crew members, and documentation studies of the maintenance and operation history of the lubrication system, this study analyzed the root cause using the SHEL (Software, Hardware, Environment, Liveware) model and Fishbone Diagram. The analysis results indicate that the main causes of contamination are leaks in the labyrinth seal, inadequate condenser vacuum, and wear on metal bearings due to suboptimal lubrication. To address this problem, the study recommends improving compliance with Plan Maintenance System PMS procedures, implementing routine and periodic inspections of the entire lubrication system, using high-quality components, and improving technical training for crew members to strengthen their understanding of the lubrication system. In addition, a digital monitoring system is needed for early detection of contaminants in the oil. These steps aim to maintain the darkness and efficiency of the COPT system to ensure optimal ship operations. This research is expected to be a useful reference for ship crews, shipping companies, and cadets at the Semarang Maritime Polytechnic PIP in understanding the importance of lubrication systems and preventing contamination in auxiliary machinery on ships. This research is expected to be a useful reference for ship crews, shipping companies, and cadets at the Semarang Maritime Polytechnic PIP in understanding the importance of lubrication systems.

Abstract

This creative research aims to produce deluxe ready-to-wear fashion by elevating local culture into modern fashion designs that have aesthetic and exclusive value. The main focus of the creation is to enrich the variety of Indonesian culture-based fashion designs through a practice-led research approach. The traditional house of the Tengger Tribe was chosen as the main source of ideas because of its unique architectural form and the philosophical values contained therein, which are still rarely explored in the fashion world. The creation process consists of four stages, namely: exploration of the source of ideas, design, realization of the work, and presentation of the work. In the exploration stage, visual studies and literature studies were conducted regarding the visual characteristics and philosophy of the traditional house of the Tengger Tribe. Next, these ideas were translated into fashion designs with an artistic and functional approach. The resulting works are three ready-to-wear deluxe characters, consisting of two women's outfits and one men's outfit. The techniques used in the realization process include semi-couture and fabric manipulation with stylized embroidery applications that represent the architectural elements of the traditional Tengger house. The results of the work were presented in a theatrical fashion show with the theme "BHUMIBRAMA" held in the courtyard of the Rectorate of Surabaya State University. This performance showcases the synergy between fashion, local culture, and artistic expression, which not only presents visual aesthetics but also builds a cultural narrative about the cultural heritage of the Tengger Tribe through the medium of fashion.

Abstract

The Jogja Planning Gallery (JPG) is a strategic initiative designed by the Yogyakarta City Government to address the challenges of increasingly rapid and uncontrolled urban development. Yogyakarta is known as a historic city with high appeal in the tourism and education sectors, and as a favorite place to live, especially for the elderly. The high interest of people from outside the region to settle in Yogyakarta has led to a surge in development that is not in line with the established urban spatial plan. For this reason, the Yogyakarta City Government plans to build the Jogja Planning Gallery (JPG) which will be located at Jalan Malioboro No. 56 and No. 54, precisely on the land of Teras 2 Malioboro and the DIY DPRD Building. This location was chosen because it is part of the philosophical axis – an imaginary axis created by Sultan Hamengkubuwono I as the basis for the spatial planning of Yogyakarta City. JPG is designed as an information gallery that presents the development vision of the Yogyakarta City Government, as well as a form of transparency regarding future city development plans. This gallery will also display the evolution of the face of Yogyakarta City from the past, present, and future. Through JPG, it is hoped that the public will gain a better understanding of the direction of urban development and be encouraged to actively participate in creating a comfortable, sustainable, and distinctive city.   Keywords:, ,

Abstract

Blood transfusions are a crucial medical procedure in treating a variety of conditions, ranging from emergency cases such as trauma and heavy bleeding, to chronic diseases such as anemia, thalassemia, and cancer. This procedure not only involves donating blood from the donor to the recipient, but also requires great care at every stage, including the donor selection process, blood type and rhesus examinations, as well as testing for infectious diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B and C, and syphilis. This study aims to examine the blood transfusion process thoroughly and identify critical aspects that must be considered so that the implementation of transfusions runs safely, effectively, and in accordance with national and international medical standards. The method used is a literature study, by collecting and studying various scientific sources, including national and international journals, guidelines from health organizations, and the latest academic literature. The results of the study show that the success of blood transfusions is greatly influenced by a number of important factors, including strict donor screening, efficient blood storage and distribution systems, implementation of appropriate clinical protocols, and education of medical personnel and complete documentation. In addition, it is also important to have a transfusion reaction reporting system as a form of quality control of health services. The implications of this study confirm that blood transfusions are not only a clinical action, but also a complex system and require the synergy of various parties, including health workers, health care institutions, and the community. Therefore, improving the quality of services, strengthening the transfusion information system, and public education campaigns on the importance of voluntary blood donation are strategic steps in supporting safe, sustainable, high-quality, and scientifically evidence-based transfusion practices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of basic futsal technical skills, including dribbling, passing, and shooting, among players at the Deco Futsal Club in Sukabumi Regency. The background of this study is based on the importance of mastering basic techniques in determining game effectiveness and team achievement. Basic techniques such as dribbling, passing, and shooting are fundamental elements that influence the overall quality of the game. This study used a descriptive quantitative method with a survey approach through skills tests on 20 players. Each player was tested on their abilities in these three basic technical aspects and the results were analyzed to determine their respective skill level categories. The results showed that the majority of players were in the sufficient category for all three techniques tested. Among the three, passing skills showed relatively better results compared to dribbling and shooting. This finding indicates that although passing skills are quite good, there is a need to improve the quality of the players' dribbling and shooting. Based on these conditions, this study recommends the need for a more focused and structured basic technique training program. Coaches are expected to design training sessions that focus on improving speed and control in dribbling, accuracy in passing, and accuracy in shooting. The practical implication of this research is the need for regular evaluation of players' basic technical abilities to monitor skill development. Thus, it is hoped that the quality of play and the achievements of the Deco Futsal Club can be significantly improved by strengthening the technical aspects of individual players.

Abstract

Dry facial skin is a common condition characterized by dull, flaky skin that is prone to wrinkles. This often reduces a person's self-confidence, making the search for solutions to treat dry skin an important concern. One natural remedy believed to help address dry skin issues is yellow cassava, which is rich in starch and nutrients. This study aims to determine whether the use of yellow cassava masks affects the moisture level of dry facial skin. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental experimental approach, involving two groups: a control group and an experimental group. Each group received treatment once a week for four weeks. The experimental group used yellow cassava masks, while the control group received no treatment. Moisture levels of the facial skin were assessed before and after the treatment. The sample consisted of 6 participants, selected through purposive sampling. The main data was obtained through direct observation and documentation, and then analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests. The results showed that the average moisture level of the control group at the end of the study was 41.7%, while the experimental group showed an increase, with an average of 44.1%. However, hypothesis testing indicated that the difference was not statistically significant. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of yellow cassava masks in the short term does not show a significant effect on the moisture level of dry facial skin. The researchers suggest that further studies should be conducted over a longer period to achieve more optimal results and to gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of yellow cassava masks in treating dry facial skin.

Abstract

Cassava tape is a traditional fermented food that is popular in Indonesia and is known to contain potential microorganisms such as Lactobacillus spp. and yeast. These microorganisms play a significant role in the fermentation process of cassava tape, which in turn contributes to the product's taste and texture. Moreover, these microbes have the potential to act as probiotics, supporting gut health. This study aims to identify and characterize Lactobacillus strains and yeast isolated from cassava tape yeast, as well as evaluate their probiotic potential. Isolation was carried out using selective media specifically formulated for isolating Lactobacillus and yeast. After isolation, identification was performed through morphological, biochemical, and molecular approaches. Molecular identification was carried out using the 16S rRNA gene for Lactobacillus, while the Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) gene was used for yeast. After identification, probiotic characterization was carried out through several tests, including resistance to low pH, bile salts, antimicrobial activity against pathogens, and microbial adhesion to intestinal surfaces. The results of the study showed that several isolates of Lactobacillus plantarum and yeast such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae exhibited good resistance to simulated gastrointestinal conditions, including resistance to low pH and bile salts. Furthermore, these microbes showed antagonistic activity against the pathogens Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, indicating their ability to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria in the digestive tract. These findings suggest that microbial strains isolated from cassava tape yeast have the potential to be developed as new local probiotic candidates. Therefore, cassava tape not only serves as a delicious traditional fermented food but also can be utilized to support gut health, providing a safe and beneficial probiotic alternative for the community.

Abstract

Cassava (Manihot utilissima) fermentation is a traditional process that has long been used to produce tape singkong, a distinctive Indonesian fermented food product. This fermentation process relies on natural or inoculated microorganisms, such as yeast, mold, and lactic acid bacteria, which play a crucial role in converting starch in cassava into simpler sugars. This process results in the unique taste of tape, characterized by a balance of sweet and sour flavors and a soft texture that distinguishes tape singkong. This study aims to identify the microorganisms involved in the fermentation process of tape singkong through microscopic observation. Tape samples were collected at various stages of fermentation to obtain a comprehensive picture of the microbial changes occurring during the fermentation process. Gram staining was used to differentiate microbes based on their cell wall characteristics, while the morphology of molds and yeasts was examined to identify the types of microorganisms involved in the fermentation. The study's findings revealed that the microorganisms involved in cassava fermentation included a variety of species, including Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast), Lactobacillus spp. (lactic acid bacteria), and filamentous molds such as Rhizopus spp. These microorganisms play vital roles in the fermentation process by breaking down starch into simpler sugars, which contribute to the characteristic sweet and sour taste and soft texture of tape. This microscopic identification underscores the significant role of microbial activity in the success of the cassava fermentation process and provides insights into the microbiological profile of traditional fermented foods. These findings also open up opportunities for further development in biotechnology and the food industry, exploring the potential of local microorganisms to produce higher-quality and more diverse fermented food products.
