Abstract

Community outreach activities through the distribution of basic necessities and food were carried out in Ngingas Village. This movement was carried out because there were several underprivileged communities, so the role of students here was to distribute aid to ease their economic burden. This community service activity used the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) method, a participatory learning and action method that is more often used in the context of community development and social projects. First, it began with the identification of problems and needs and the factors causing them, which were social inequality. After that, planning for the community service movement was carried out. The main objectives of this movement are to foster empathy among students in helping underprivileged communities, enhance solidarity among fellow students, and alleviate the economic burden of underprivileged communities. The results of this community service activity show that the PLA method can foster community involvement in this movement, so that this assistance is not seen as a show of generosity, but rather as a means of promoting mutual welfare and alleviating their economic burden.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to transform tourism kiosk services through the development of a Community-Based English Corner as a community empowerment initiative to improve tourism service quality. The program was implemented over three months using a participatory approach consisting of five stages: socialization, intensive training, technology and innovation implem entation, mentoring and evaluation, and program sustainability. The activities included English for Tourism training, the development of English-language digital promotional content, and the provision of bilingual information media for three tourism kiosks. The results demonstrated the establishment of an English Corner learning community, improved participants’ English communication skills and digital promotion competencies, the availability of bilingual information media, and the production of promotional content supporting destination marketing. Overall, the program enhanced community-based tourism services, strengthened the competitiveness of local businesses, encouraged community participation, supported the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and can serve as a replicable community empowerment model for other tourism destinations.

Abstract

Students as aspiring entrepreneurs need to have the ability to produce products while managing business finances sustainably. However, entrepreneurship education in higher education still focuses more on production aspects than financial management. This community service activity aims to improve students' entrepreneurial competencies through mentoring in production practices and preparing simple financial reports. The method used is participatory mentoring in five stages: production practices, cost recording, simple digital bookkeeping, financial report preparation, and business profit analysis. The results show that students are able to understand the production process, identify costs, prepare digital bookkeeping, present simple financial reports, and analyze business profits. The product-to-profit approach provides a learning experience that integrates operational and financial aspects, thus supporting the development of young entrepreneurs who are able to manage their businesses professionally and sustainably.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the tourism sector in the Special Region of Yogyakarta has not yet been fully matched by managerial readiness in the hospitality MSME sector. Teman Nginap Yogyakarta MSMEs are one example of partners facing challenges in human resource (HR) management and organizational structure. This community service program aims to optimize HR management through a participatory-interactive mentoring approach. The program was implemented through six main stages, combining two approaches: academic education (fundamentals of HRM and job analysis) and practitioner-led training (best practices in recruitment, training/on-the-job training, and performance evaluation systems). The final evaluation results showed a very high level of satisfaction among the partner’s management. This mentoring program successfully provided new perspectives and transformed operational processes to be more structured, efficient, and professional, thereby ensuring long-term business sustainability.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to implement an Accounting Information System (AIS) based on the Financial Accounting Standards for Micro, Small, and Medium Entities (SAK EMKM) at Kerupuk Azizah MSME in Padang City to improve financial reporting accountability. The program employed observation, needs assessment, training, implementation assistance, and evaluation through discussions and post-tests. The results showed improved participants’ competence in preparing SAK EMKM-compliant financial statements, calculating production costs, managing inventory, and utilizing financial information for decision-making. The program outputs included a Microsoft Excel-based bookkeeping system, SAK EMKM-compliant financial reporting templates, and a user guide to support sustainable implementation. Evaluation results indicated an 85% level of participant understanding, demonstrating that the AIS effectively enhanced financial reporting accountability and strengthened the professionalism of MSME financial management.

Abstract

This community service program developed and implemen ted an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) module integrated with spatial visual note-taking techniques to improve participants’ note-taking skills in the IELTS Listening test. The program targeted final-year students and alumni from the Departments of Architecture and English Language Education who were preparing for higher educat ion and scholarship opportunities at English Village Pare, Kediri. The program employed participatory training, project-based learni ng, & experiential learning through needs assessment, module develo pment, workshops, guided practice, and evaluation. The module was designed based on dual coding theory, cognitive load theory, and the visual note-taking framework. The implementation results demonstra ted improvements in participants’ listening comprehension, keyword identification, paraphrase recognition, visual organization of notes, and adherence to IELTS answer-writing conventions. This program produced an innovative EAP learning module that effectively, contextually, and sustainably supports IELTS Listening preparation.

Abstract

This study aims to assist Herbal Umi and Jakumen, two herbal beverage MSMEs in Klaten Regency, in adopting simple digital financial recording. Prior to the program, both businesses relied on inconsistent handwritten notes or kept no financial records at all. The mentoring method combined direct practice (learning by doing) with contextual analogies, implemented through five structured sessions covering interviews, training, mentoring, and evaluation using the BukuWarung application. The results showed an improvement in both owners' understanding and skills: Herbal Umi is now able to issue digital sales receipts, manage stock, and monitor receivables, while Jakumen, which previously had no records at all, successfully prepared a simple profit-and-loss statement independently for the first time. The main barriers encountered, namely limited digital literacy, difficulty in categorizing transactions, and limited time, were addressed through a gradual, repetitive, and analogy-based approach.

Abstract

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a chronic condition characterized by persistently elevated pressure within the arterial walls. The prevalence of hypertension among older adults continues to increase as life expectancy rises, highlighting the need for sustained preventive and health promotion efforts. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of elderly residents at Widhi Asih Nursing Home, Surakarta, regarding hypertension prevention and management. The intervention included baseline blood pressure screening, elderly exercise sessions, interactive health education based on the "CERDIK" healthy lifestyle approach, and post-intervention blood pressure assessment. The results demonstrated improved participants’ understanding of hypertension risk factors, symptoms, prevention, and management. Data analysis also revealed a significant positive relationship between age and hypertension severity, indicating that advancing age is associated with a higher risk of severe hypertension. The program encouraged older adults to adopt healthy lifestyles independently, thereby enhancing their quality of life, maintaining physical fitness, and reducing the risk of hypertension-related complications.

Abstract

The objective of the community service program in Kambula-Bulana Village, Buton Regency, is to improve the skills and income of coastal communities through the production of tuna flakes using local resources. The main issues are that tuna catches are used to make byproducts, and there is a lack of community awareness regarding the production, processing, and distribution of MSME products. The methods used to implement this initiative include evaluating activity outcomes, providing guidance on product packaging, conducting outreach, and offering practical training in tuna flake production. The results of the community service program indicate that participants were able to understand the hygienic production process for tuna flakes and produce a product with higher value than fresh fish. Additionally, the community learned simple marketing techniques and attractive product packaging, thereby opening opportunities for the growth of home-based businesses in the fisheries sector. The skills, creativity, and economic potential of coastal towns have also increased thanks to this project.

Abstract

Community service was carried out during the PKKMB (Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus Mahasiswa Baru) activities for the Academic Year 2024/2025 at Institut Bisnis dan Komputer (IBK) Indonesia. Effective communication is very relevant matery to discuss considering the current life patterns of students who are less concerned about the social environment and this has an impact on the lack of communication with other people around them. The implementation of PKKMB was attended by 159 new students from 4 study programs, namely Accounting Study Program, Computer Science Study Program, Management Science Study Program and Entrepreneurship Study Program. The results of the activity show that new students are aware of the importance of building effective communication and that this will also contribute to their lives when entering the world of work. In the world of work, leadership qualities and the ability to work together in a team are required and this can be achieved by practicing oneself in communicating effectively.
