Abstract

As social media becomes increasingly woven into people lives, educators are exploring its impact on learning, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL). This study investigates the effectiveness of YouTube, a platform brimming with engaging educational content in EFL classrooms. Through qualitative research and analysis of existing studies, the research confirms YouTube's potential. Students not only experience improved proficiency in various skills like vocabulary, grammar, and listening, but also increased interest, motivation, and autonomy in their learning journey. For teachers, YouTube offers a treasure trove of diverse content, enabling them to create captivating instructional materials and enhance the overall teaching process. Ultimately, this study reveals the effectiveness and relevance of using YouTube in EFL classrooms, empowering both teachers and learners with easily accessible resources that boost language skills while fostering a more engaging learning environment.

Abstract

Media pembelajaran adalah salah satu alat pendukung materi selama proses belajar. Media pembelajaran digunakan untuk membuat informasi dan materi pembelajaran dapat tersampaikan secara lebih baik kepada peserta didik. Buku Pop-Up adalah salah satu contoh media pembelajaran yang digunakan di kelas. Buku Pop-Up ini didesain dengan tampilan yang menarik karena dibuat dengan kertas karton yang memiliki ketebalan dan ketahanan lebih baik. Serta dicetak menggunakan kertas stiker mengkilap dan berwarna. Buku Pop-Up ini berisi tentang penjelasan dan deskripsi secara umum mengenai beberapa hewan laut seperti ikan badut, gurita, ikan hiu, kuda laut dan bintang laut. Buku Pop-Up ini dapat diimplementasikan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca dan menulis peserta didik dalam materi pembelajaran report text.

Abstract

This study conducted with the aim to find out the tendency of issues faced by learners in speaking performance and find out how well learners do in speaking performance. This study is a descriptive qualitative study that used the ‘Big Five Personality Traits’ to determine students' personality. The information about the issues faced by the learners gained from questionnaire, interview, observation, and speaking test. Extrovert personality is determined from the aspects of cognition and behavior which are the core of each individual's structure. There were 18 students indicated as extroverts. The result of this study explained that there were some issues faced by extroverted learners in linguistics factor that became the main factor. The most influential factors for speaking success were learners’ readiness and managing better strategy for speaking, built an immersive speaking activities approach, being open about new topics, and gave encouraging and supportive feedback to each other.

Abstract

This study aims to explain how early childhood English language learners are taught English using the Total Physical Response (TPR) technique. This kind of study is qualitative descriptive in nature. The researcher in this study outlines the TPR method-based tasks that instructors and students completed. Teachers and students at kindegarten are the source of the data. There are ten pupils in the class, and their ages range from five to six. Through observation of learning activities, data was gathered. Comprehension and understanding were the criteria examined, and the methods utilized were interviews and observation. Researchers' findings demonstrate that young learners like participating actively in English language learning activities and that students may expand their vocabulary when utilizing the TPR approach. The goal of the project is to help improve English language learning and teaching activities, particularly for younger pupils. The findings of the TPR technique observations made in the classroom and the interviews that researchers did with instructors and students attest to this reality.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh model terhadap hasil siswa dalam menguasai kalimat deskriptif pada keterampilan dasar menulis dalam bahasa Inggris. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan menggunakan uji t komparatif yang dilakukan pretest dan posttest pada 1 kelas di SMP Nurul Huda. Dari hasil penelitian terlihat bahwa model induktif kata bergambar (PWIM) memang dapat membantu siswa dalam memahami kalimat deskriptif, hal ini dibuktikan dengan data yang menunjukkan adanya peningkatan nilai siswa dari pretest hingga posttest. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengajaran menulis dengan model induktif kata bergambar (PWIM) dalam kalimat deskriptif, terbukti siswa lebih aktif dan termotivasi dalam pembelajaran. Diharapkan kedepannya penelitian ini dapat dilanjutkan untuk membantu siswa dengan mudah memahami kalimat deskriptif, khususnya keterampilan menulis.

Abstract

This study is the effectiveness of semantic learning techniques in understanding English vocabulary from the perspective of sixth semester students at Muhammadiyah University, Tangerang. This study used qualitative methods to collect data through interviews and classroom observations. The results showed that semantic learning techniques helped students in using polysemic materials to better understand the context and meaning of vocabulary, thus increasing their confidence in their daily use of English. This study also revealed some challenges faced by students and teachers when implementing semantic techniques in this sixth semester lesson. In this semantic learning technique, it is proven that students are more motivated to improve their vocabulary. It is hoped that in the future this research will be continued to help students better understand the semantic learning technique.

Abstract

Language writing errors are something that often happens. Especially for language learners. In Indonesia, English is a foreign language. This makes language learning feel a little difficult in writing. Lexical errors are mistakes related to the vocabulary of a language. These errors can be broadly defined as deviations from the standard usage of words, which result in incorrect or unclear expressions. This research is an analysis of 6th semester English language education students at Muhammadiyah University, Tangerang. The student writing that is studied is the result of the writing contained in the foreword section of the student's paper assignment. There were 15 students who were used as a sample for analysis this time. The results show that there are four out of seven types of lexical errors in students' writing. These are errors in choosing words (60%), collocation errors (13%), redundancy errors (20%), and spelling errors (7%).

Abstract

 This study investigates the impact of semantic awareness on English learning anxiety among sixth-semester students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang, utilizing a mixed-methods approach. The research surveyed 10 students (5 from class A1 and 5 from class A2). Both quantitative and qualitative analyses were conducted to explore the relationship between semantic awareness and learning anxiety. Findings indicate that students with higher semantic awareness reported better comprehension and use of English in academic and social contexts, suggesting a significant connection between these factors. The study highlights practical applications for language education, emphasizing the importance of enhancing semantic awareness to reduce anxiety and improve language learning outcomes. These results provide valuable insights for educators in designing effective language learning strategies, ultimately aiming to foster a more supportive and less anxiety-inducing learning environment for students.

Abstract

This research analyzes 3 years old children to pay attention to their way of communicating by answering questions from us as researchers and how Ryuga (the child being observed) communicates with his parents. With the aim of exploring the stages of syntactic development in the development of language acquisition in 3 years old children. This will focus on understanding the sentence structures they use in communicating or speaking such as declarative, interrogative and imperative sentences. By examining these aspects, the research seeks to provide a detailed picture of the syntactic abilities of three years old children. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The results of this research found that Ryuga, who was the object of research, was able to compose meaningful sentences with the correct structure, using pronouns, and his ability to use various types of sentences such as declarative, interrogative and imperative sentences. all of them show good syntactic development in children aged 3 years in speaking. This progress is likely based on imitation and the role of the first language or mother tongue in forming syntactic abilities in Ryuga.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to track and assess the development of communication, self-confidence, and the influence of environmental factors in a two-year-old child. This case study investigated a child named Bara through direct observation for two hours in the playground and home environment on June 15–16, 2024. Direct interaction with the subject and observation were part of the data collection process. The results showed that Bara had age-appropriate communication skills, including understanding basic instructions and using simple words and sentences. Bara showed confidence in various activities and interactions with adults. Bara found that his home and social environment, with adequate stimulation and positive interactions, were very supportive of his growth. The study found that Bara has developed in communication and self-confidence at a good level, with significant support from environmental factors. Suggestions for further development include enriching language, increasing self-confidence, and making the supportive environment more optimal.
