Abstract

Parents have a very important role in the growth and development of children. Not only mothers but fathers are also very important. The figure of a father is also very much needed in educating children not only as the head of the household who works but also educates children, if a child does not feel the presence of a father figure in his life, it has a physical and psychological impact on him. Losing a father figure or the role of a father is also known as fatherless. Fatherless makes a person inferior and lonely. This research method uses descriptive qualitative through library research, namely collecting data by understanding and studying theories related to and supporting this research. The aim is to find out how the role of pastoral counseling in overcoming fatherlessness in adolescent girls aged 12-18 years. The results of this study indicate that adolescent girls who experience fatherlessness will have a very bad impact on their adolescence related to building relationships with the opposite sex, emotional disorders, identity crises, and behavioral disorders. Therefore, Christian counselors are present to help deal with adolescent girls who experience fatherlessness by; 1). Building relationships, 2). Having empathy, 3). Guiding, 4). Healing, 5). Exemplary function.

Abstract

Dokumen Antiquum Ministerium Paus Fransiskus menggarisbawahi betapa pentingnya kerasulan awam di era sekarang. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami secara menyeluruh bagaimana dokumen tersebut menjelaskan dan mendukung konsep kerasulan awam, serta bagaimana hal itu berdampak pada perkembangan teologi dan praktik pastoral. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari peran dan tanggung jawab umat awam dalam misi gereja seperti yang digariskan dalam Antiquum Ministerium. Fokus utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kesadaran akan panggilan umat awam untuk berpartisipasi secara aktif dalam kehidupan masyarakat dan gereja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk menganalisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Paus Fransiskus menegaskan kerasulan awam sebagai panggilan universal yang harus dipahami dalam terang identitas baptisan. Kaum awam adalah pelaku utama dalam menyebarkan Injil dan memiliki tugas untuk membangun komunitas iman di seluruh dunia. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa dokumen ini memberikan dorongan yang signifikan untuk pemberdayaan umat awam. Ini berdampak besar pada teologi modern dan pendekatan pastoral yang lebih inklusif.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of inclusive leadership in educational institutions and to investigate its implementation in seminaries. The research methodology employed was a comprehensive literature review. The findings indicate that inclusive leadership plays a pivotal role in addressing issues of equity, social justice, and diversity by promoting diversity, eradicating oppressive practices, and advancing social justice. Additionally, it is imperative to establish inclusive school environments that embrace and celebrate diversity. The role of inclusive leadership in seminary education is also highlighted. Implementing this leadership model can offer valuable experiences and learning opportunities for seminarians, who will later assume leadership roles and responsibilities within the Church, society, organizations or institutions. Finally, through the practice of inclusive leadership and the emphasis on culturally responsive leadership, educational leaders can contribute to creating inclusive educational environments where all students are acknowledged, valued, and included in the learning process.

Abstract

John XXIII’s encyclical Pacem in Terris (1963) offers profound reflections on the prerequisites for global peace, emphasizing structural justice and dialogue as fundamental pillars. This paper aims to reactualize John XXIII’s thought in the context of contemporary peace. Through a qualitative-analytical approach, this study analyzes the encyclical to extract principles of structural justice that demand transformative, inclusive political, economic, and social systems, as well as multidimensional dialogue as an instrument for conflict resolution. The findings reveal that John XXIII’s paradigm remains relevant, particularly in addressing the complexities of globalization, where systemic injustices and the absence of dialogue spaces often underlie violence. Structural justice is realized through the strengthening of equitable international law, the protection of human rights, and the fair distribution of resources, while dialogue is positioned as a medium to build empathy among fragmented groups. The study recommends integrating the values of Pacem in Terris into global and local policies. Thus, the reactualization of John XXIII’s thought transcends its theological legacy, serving as an operational framework for achieving sustainable peace amid modern societal dynamics.

Abstract

Mutual respect is essential in fostering harmonious relationships among students, especially within diverse campus environments such as STP-IPI Malang Pastoral Ministry Study Program. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of small-group evangelization activities in enhancing mutual respect among students. An experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design was utilized, involving two student groups: an experimental group (participating in evangelization activities) and a control group (not participating). Results showed a significant increase in mutual respect within the experimental group (pretest score 71.14 to posttest 129.05; p-value=1.27E-22), whereas the control group did not exhibit significant changes (pretest score 58.59 to posttest 63.36; p-value=0.127). The study concludes that small-group evangelization effectively enhances mutual respect among STP-IPI Malang students. Integrating these activities into the pastoral curriculum is recommended to strengthen students' social and spiritual character development.

Abstract

One of the dangers to watch out for in midst of the vibrant religious life is the tendency to limit the significance of religion to spiritual life alone and ignore its significance for public life. This study aims to articulate the inspiration that Christian faith can provide for social life. With this inspiration, Christians can avoid the tendency to domesticate God in the private sphere. To achieve this goal, this research uses a qualitative method by conducting a critical reading of related literature. The results of the critical reading are elaborated by following the procedure of contextual theology proposed by Stephen B. Bevans, namely the dialectic between context and Scripture (and Tradition). Through this elaboration, it was found that the nature of society is relation and being in a society means relating. The relationality of a society that knows God is brotherly love that founded on the relationality of Trinitarian God. The essence of the love relationality of the Trinity is the perichoretic relationship of "I" and "you" which forms “us” in the Trinity.

Abstract

Modern life brings significant implications for human morality, spirituality, and identity, including within the context of serving children with special needs. At the Bhakti Luhur Foundation, spiritual formation plays an essential role in helping caregivers recognize that their service is an act of devotion to Jesus, who is present in the poor and suffering children they accompany. However, various challenges arise, such as incidents of violence, low commitment, and ineffective use of time due to distractions from social media. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the ALMA Puteri spiritual formation and caregiver accompaniment in carrying out this service. Using a descriptive qualitative method through interviews, observations, and documentation, the study found that spiritual formation has been provided from the beginning, yet its impact is not fully optimal. Service becomes more meaningful when caregivers understand that their work is directed toward Christ and is lived out in community life through shared meals, communal prayer, and regular conversations. The main obstacle lies in caregivers’ initial motivation, which is often oriented toward obtaining education and certificates. Therefore, more intensive and consistent spiritual formation is needed to enhance caregiving quality and deepen commitment to service.

Abstract

This study explores in depth the character formation model for catechists based on Basic Pastoral principles at Sekolah Tinggi Pastoral – IPI Malang using a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through observations of daily spiritual practices, in-depth interviews with lecturers, mentors, and students, as well as document analysis of the curriculum and formation guidelines. The findings indicate that the formation process is not merely theoretical but is realized through the integration of the five pillars of Basic Pastoral—daily meditation, Scripture reading, liturgical prayer, self-formation, and community interview—into the academic, spiritual, and social life of the students. Mentors play a vital role as facilitators of faith and character growth, guiding students to internalize values such as honesty, humility, empathy, discipline, and readiness for mission. The model demonstrates significant positive impact on students’ reflective capacity, spiritual maturity, and pastoral identity. This research offers a meaningful contribution to the development of spirituality-based character education within Catholic higher education in Indonesia and provides insights applicable to broader contexts that aim to cultivate holistic and contextual catechist formation

Abstract

This study explores how social media affects the spiritual formation of Generation Z students in a major seminary. Generation Z has grown up entirely in an internet-saturated world where social media is central to daily life. For Catholic institutions seeking to nurture students’ spiritual growth, it is vital to understand how these platforms shape - and sometimes hinder - this process, as well as how students themselves perceive their influence. Data were collected through an online survey emailed to undergraduates, with 119 students completing the questionnaire, and through follow-up interviews with eleven participants. Quantitative data were analysed using linear regression to examine the relationship between social media use and spiritual well-being. The survey and interviews investigated students’ participation in spiritual practices - such as the Eucharist, personal prayer, and other devotions. Results show that social media has markedly reshaped the process of spiritual formation. Many students reported that frequent engagement with social media reduced their ability to be fully present in key spiritual disciplines, particularly during the Eucharist, in times of silent reflection, and in personal prayer.

Abstract

This study explores the faith journeys of Israelite ancestors: Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob, Leah, Rachel, and Joseph, as exemplifications of God’s active, faithful, and transformative love. Employing a qualitative-theological methodology grounded in library research, the study analyzes patterns of divine love manifested through calling, promise, testing, providence, and fulfillment within the lives of the patriarchs and matriarchs. Findings indicate that Abraham and Sarah model courage and trust amid uncertainty; Isaac safeguards the generational continuity of God’s promise; Rebekah, Leah, and Rachel highlight the proactive role of women in the divine plan; Jacob experiences faith transformation through personal and familial struggles; and Joseph illustrates God’s providential care in adversity, resulting in blessing. The study affirms that God’s love operates even within human fragility and conflict, inviting active engagement in divine purposes, and contributes to Old Testament theology while offering insights for contemporary spiritual reflection on dynamic and transformative faith.
