Abstract

The research investigates the readiness of SMAN 15 Bandar Lampung in implementing the "Kurikulum Merdeka," with a particular focus on the "Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila" (P5). The study identifies key challenges faced by schools in adopting this new curriculum, including resource availability, teacher preparedness, and administrative support. Through a combination of observation and interviews, the researcher explores the school’s strategies and the effectiveness of their implementation. Findings highlight significant efforts by the leadership and staff, yet reveal gaps in infrastructure, financial resources, and teacher training. The study concludes that while SMAN 15 Bandar Lampung has made commendable progress, further investment in resources and comprehensive capacity-building programs is needed to ensure the successful adoption of the Kurikulum Merdeka. Abstract

Previous research on reading has indicated that the primary obstacle for university students in understanding texts is often unfamiliar vocabulary. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of narrow reading in enhancing the vocabulary of university students and to assess their perceptions of this strategy's implementation. The research design utilised was pre-experimental. The study included 25 second-semester Management majors at a university. Data collection instruments consisted of vocabulary tests and a questionnaire, and the data was analysed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The results indicate that narrow reading is an effective strategy for improving the vocabulary of university students. The statistical analysis revealed a significant improvement in students' vocabulary achievement after the implementation of narrow reading (p = 0.000, which is less than 0.05). In conclusion, the narrow reading strategy has been shown to enhance the vocabulary comprehension of university students effectively. Furthermore, the students have a positive perception of the implementation of the narrow reading strategy. It is recommended that English instructors consider incorporating narrow reading into their teaching practices, and future researchers can use these findings as a reference.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of formal business strategy planning on the performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), considering the mediating role of competitive advantage strategies. In the context of increasingly fierce business competition, MSMEs need to engage in systematic business strategy planning to remain competitive and grow. This research employs a quantitative method by collecting data from 139 owners and managers of textile and miscellaneous MSMEs in Merauke Regency. Data analysis in this study is conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to evaluate the relationships among formal business strategy planning, competitive advantage strategies, and the performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The results indicate that formal business strategy planning has a significant and positive effect on the performance of MSMEs. Additionally, competitive advantage strategies serve as a mediator in the relationship between formal business strategy planning and MSME performance. These findings suggest that MSMEs implementing formal business strategy planning can enhance their overall performance, particularly when accompanied by effective competitive advantage strategies. This study makes a significant contribution to the literature on business strategy and offers practical recommendations for MSME owners and managers to improve business performance through structured planning and a focus on competitive advantage.

Abstract

This study analyzes Megawati’s Amicus Curiae letter using discourse analysis, focusing on the construction of in-groups and out-groups, representation of social actors, and discursive strategies. The data analysis method involves Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), focusing on how Megawati’s letter constructs in-group and out-group identities, represents social actors positively or negatively, and employs discursive strategies to legitimize in-group actions while criticizing the out-group. This approach utilizes frameworks from Van Dijk, Van Leeuwen, and Wodak to explore linguistic devices that shape audience perceptions. The findings revealed that the letter constructs the in-group as morally superior and aligned with justice, while the out-group is implied to be responsible for undermining democracy. Discursive strategies, such as moral appeals, historical references, and passive voice, are employed to legitimize in-group actions and subtly criticize the out-group. Additionally, Megawati's motives are highlighted as an effort to assert her political identity, position herself as a defender of democratic values, and enhance her influence in a competitive political landscape.

Abstract

This analytical research explore the numeracy literacy skills of students in the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) program at Musamus University. The main objective of this study was to assess the level of numeracy literacy among these future educators and to identify factors that influence their competence. Given the importance of numeracy skills in comprehensive education, understanding the skills of PGSD students is crucial for the development of effective teacher training programs. This study used quantitative data from a standardized numeracy test. The sample consisted of 2nd semester PGSD students at Musamus University, representing a diverse range of backgrounds and academic achievements. The quantitative analysis focused on measuring basic numeracy skills, problem solving skills, and application of mathematical concepts in real-world situations. Preliminary findings indicate significant variation in numeracy skills among PGSD students in the second semester, with differences related to previous educational experiences and socio-economic backgrounds. The data showed that while some students had strong numeracy skills, others still struggled with basic concepts, highlighting the need for targeted interventions. In addition, the study found a generally positive attitude towards numeracy, although accompanied by anxiety and lack of confidence in teaching mathematics. This study highlights the importance of improving numeracy skills in teacher education programs. By strengthening the numeracy skills of PGSD students, this study aims to contribute to the wider goal of improving the quality of basic education and creating a generation of numerate and confident students.

Abstract

This study examines the works of Robert Frost through the lens of ecocriticism, focusing on how his poems depict the relationship between humans and nature in the context of posthuman thought, climate change, and diverse planetary concerns. Using qualitative textual analysis methods, this study analyzes poems such as "The Road Not Taken," "Fire and Ice," and "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" to reveal how Frost does not simply depict nature as a passive backdrop or object , but as an entity that plays an active role in human life. Through "The Road Not Taken," Frost demonstrates the ontological equality between humans and nature, where the narrator's decisions are influenced by equal natural forces. The poem "Fire and Ice" is explored as an allegory for the ecological disaster caused by climate change, reflecting the duality of threats facing the planet. Meanwhile, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" evokes a sense of awe and reverence for nature, while also encouraging readers to consider the broader implications of human actions on the environment. This study concludes that through his works, Frost not only presents poetic reflections on nature, but also invites environmental readers to reflect on human responsibility in maintaining ecological balance amidst the global crisis.
