International Journal of Language and Ubiquitous Learning
International Journal of Language and Ubiquitous Learning (IJLUL) is a peer-reviewed academic journal devoted to issues related to foreign and second language teaching/learning and how Ubiquitous Learning can be used to enhance language teaching and learning. Its primary goal is to disseminate scholarly information on issues related to language teaching research. Particular Attention is paid to problems associated with foreign and second language instruction. IJLUL publishes articles and book reviews in English. Articles which have a sound theoretical base with a visible practical application which can be generalised will be prioritised. There will be 4 issues per year of IJLUL a year, appearing in the months of Macrh, June, September, and December. Published in both hardcopy and softcopy, IJLUL utilises Open Journal System (OJS) to allow it to reach a wider audience from different parts of the globe. The journal publishes state-of-art papers in fundamental theory, experiments, and simulation, as well as applications, with a systematic proposed method, sufficient review on previous works, expanded discussion, and concise conclusion. As our commitment to the advancement of science and technology, the IJLUL follows the open access policy that allows the published articles freely available online without any subscription. Submitted papers must be written in English for initial review stage by editors and further review process by minimum two international reviewers.

Quizlet application for interactive learning used through online which can be used as an online learning media, which can be learned by teachers and students to increase vocabulary or also can make personal letters and official letters. It is useful to improve students' knowledge and skills in utilising Quizlet application as one of the applications in enhancing online learning. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine the utilisation of the Quizlet application as a student performance research tool by teachers. Method. This research uses quantitative methods, where data is obtained through interviews and distributing questionnaires. Results. The results of this study explain that the utilisation of the Quizlet application is very positive in the teacher's assessment of a student's performance. By using the Quizlet application, it is very helpful for students in learning that is difficult to understand, so that it can improve the learning process optimally. Conclusion. The conclusion of this study explains that Quizlet App can be used as a tool for assessing student performance by teachers in online implementation and can be used for language learning.]]>

Lately, the influence on student learning motivation has begun to decline due to the lack of teacher mastery of learning media, even though at this time there are many references that can be used as guidelines or references in the process of introducing learning materials, for example by using online application-based learning media. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of quizlet learning media in increasing students' interest and motivation to learn in junior high school. This learning media can develop skills in reading and writing vocabulary. Method. This research method uses quantitative methods, data obtained through interviews and distributing questionnaires using Google Form. Results. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the quizlet application can help millions of junior high school students in learning online, so that it can increase the value in the learning process to the maximum. Conclusion. The conclusion of the study can be concluded that students' understanding in the addition of vocabulary increased from before the application of learning with the quizlet application.]]>

<![CDATA[Background. Chat GPT is a natural language model developed by OpenAI, based on the GPT (Generative Pretrained Transformer) architecture. It is renowned for its ability to generate text that closely resembles human writing, including in chat and conversational interactions. In the growing digital era, artificial intelligence technology is increasingly playing an important role in various fields, including education. Purpose. This study aims to identify the benefits of using Chat GPT in learning in higher education and how its use can improve the quality of learning, accelerate the assessment process, increase student engagement, improve teaching efficiency, and facilitate student understanding. Method. The research method used is quantitative by using google form which will produce data in the form of numbers. By using google form, a questionnaire will be made and distributed to students in higher education. Results. The results show that the use of Chat GPT has significant benefits in learning in higher education. The use of Chat GPT can improve the quality of learning, accelerate the assessment process, increase student engagement, and improve teaching efficiency. Conclusion. The conclusion from this study is that the use of Chat GPT in a college setting can be beneficial in supporting learning in an innovative and effective way. However, the limitation of this study is that the researcher was only able to conduct a study of a few students in higher education. Therefore, the researcher hopes that future research can be conducted with a wider scope. The researcher also recommends that future research can be a reference material in conducting research related to the utilisation of Chat GPT in supporting learning in higher education.]]>

<![CDATA[Background. The Covid-19 outbreak that occurred at the end of 2019 spread rapidly in Indonesia. To reduce the transmission, the Government set a rule not to hold activities that trigger crowds and all activities are carried out at home. The impact of this policy is very much felt, one of which is in the field of education. The learning system has changed significantly from face-to-face learning in classrooms to distance learning through online media. Efforts that can be made so that learning is still carried out during covid-19 are utilizing social media as a learning medium, one of which is through the Tik Tok application. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine the utilization of Tik Tok social media as a learning medium in the teaching and learning process during covid-19. Method. The research method used is quantitative method, data obtained from interviews and distributing questionnaires via google form. Results The results showed that Tik Tok social media was able to motivate students in learning because of Tik Tok's interesting and fun features. In addition, educators can also be creative through videos in presenting learning materials so that learning indicators can be conveyed. Conclusion. The conclusion of this study shows that the use of Tik Tok social media in the learning process during Covid-19 is very effective.]]>

<![CDATA[Background. The world of education is inseparable from various learning components. The utilization of technology cannot be separated from the world of education. One of them is the use of Quiz Kreator for student achievement assessment in elementary schools. Quiz Kreator is one of the online applications used to create quizzes, including multiple choice quizzes and true false quizzes. Purpose. This study aims to determine how student achievement in elementary schools after using the Quiz Kreator application in the learning process. Method. The researcher used quantitative research methods, namely by distributing questionnaires to elementary school students. The questionnaire was distributed online. Results. The results showed that the use of Quiz Kreator in assessing student achievement in elementary schools has a positive impact on students. The use of Quiz Kreator as an assessment tool that is well designed and relevant to the material being taught, can improve student achievement. Quiz Kreator can provide assessment results automatically and accurately. This can also help teachers in assessing student achievement more objectively. Conclusion. the use of Quiz Kreator in assessing student achievement in elementary schools can be utilized well. The use of this Quiz Kreator application can improve student achievement in the learning process.]]>

Video media in learning can have an impact in the field of education, especially in early childhood to help children's growth and development, video as a three-dimensional system that has an important role. Purpose. The study aims to determine the utilization of video in improving early childhood achievement. Method. The method used is quantitative method, the research format is Survey Study. The data collection technique used is communication technique. Data tools are collected in the form of questionnaires and documents. In-depth data analysis This research uses percentage analysis. The sample in this study was 50 people. Results. The results of this study indicate that learning videos can improve student achievement in learning in early childhood education. Conclusion. The conclusion of this study is that with learning video media, children become more confident and make it easier for early childhood to absorb material delivered by educators, and can assess children's activeness directly.]]>

<![CDATA[Background. In today’s digital era, the use of technology in education is becoming increasingly important. Mobile learning in the form of Articulate Storyline application offers easy access and interactivity that can enrich students’ learning experience. However, not many studies have specifically investigated the impact of using the application on student learning outcomes at MTs-TI Pariangan. Purpose. This study aims to evaluate the effect of using the Articulate Storyline application on students’ Arabic learning outcomes at MTs-TI Pariangan. Factors that influence the effectiveness of the app in improving academic achievement will be scrutinised to provide greater insight into the effectiveness of the app. Method. The research method used is an experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design. The research sample was 8th grade students of MTs-TI Pariangan consisting of 20 students. Data was collected through an initial test before the use of the application and a final test after the period of application use. Results. The results of this study showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes after using the Articulate Storyline app. Students who actively used the application showed greater improvement in material understanding and academic achievement compared to those who did not use the application. The findings support the hypothesis that the use of the Articulate Storyline application has a positive effect on student learning outcomes at MTs-TI Pariangan. Conclusion. This study shows that the use of Articulate Storyline mobile learning application significantly improves the Arabic learning outcomes of grade 8 students of MTs-TI Pariangan. Validity and reliability tests confirm that the instruments used have high consistency and reliability. The results of statistical analysis showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores, with an increase in the average score from 65.00 to 80.50.]]>

<![CDATA[Background. In the current era of globalization, the rapid development of technology greatly affects various aspects of life, including education. The Hello English application has been introduced as a learning medium to improve English speaking skills for students. Speaking is an important skill in language learning that involves an interactive process of meaning construction. Purpose. This study aims to explore students' perception of the use of the Hello English application in improving their speaking skills, as well as to find out how effective this application is in helping the teaching and learning process. Method. This study uses a quantitative approach with data collection through questionnaires distributed to students majoring in English Education at Batang Hari Jambi University. The data obtained was analyzed to determine students' perception of the use of the Hello English application. Results. The results of the study show that most students agree that the Hello English app is effective in improving their speaking skills. This application is considered practical, interesting, and able to increase students' interest in learning. The features in the application, such as speaking practice with native speakers and structured learning materials, are very helpful for students in mastering English speaking skills. Conclusion. The Hello English app has great potential in improving students' English speaking skills. The use of this application facilitates the teaching and learning process and provides an interactive and fun learning experience. However, this study has limitations in the scope of the subject which only includes English Language Education students at one university. Further research is suggested to expand the scope of the subject and deepen the understanding of the use of technology-based learning applications in various fields of education. ]]>

<![CDATA[Background. The use of audio-visual media in education has gained increasing attention due to its potential to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. In Indonesian language instruction, particularly in teaching explanatory text material, there is a need to explore innovative methods to improve student interest and comprehension. Purpose. This study aims to evaluate the impact of using audio-visual media on students' interest in learning explanatory text material in class VII-A SMP Negeri 2 Hiliduho. Method. A qualitative research method with a descriptive approach was employed. The study involved 20 students from class VII-A SMP Negeri 2 Hiliduho. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Results. The use of audio-visual media significantly increased students' interest and understanding of explanatory text material. Students demonstrated improved ability in determining appropriate terms and adjusting explanatory texts to their proper structure and characteristics. Audio-visual media, such as PowerPoint presentations and videos, made the material more engaging and comprehensible, facilitating a more efficient learning process. Students using audio-visual media showed higher levels of engagement compared to those who did not, as they were able to follow the learning flow more effectively. Conclusion. The findings suggest that audio-visual media play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience for students studying explanatory text material. Teachers reported that these tools aided in more effective content delivery. The increased student engagement and improved understanding of the material highlight the potential of audio-visual media as a valuable instructional tool in Indonesian language education, particularly for explanatory text instruction.]]>

<![CDATA[Background. Richard Eliezer's confession after the verdict in the Rosi program on Kompas TV attracted public and media attention. This confession contains complex dimensions in terms of legal, social, and psychological aspects that deserve further analysis. The discourse that occurs in this program reflects the dynamics of power and ideology that influence public perception. Purpose. This research aims to analyze the critical discourse of Richard Eliezer's confession after the verdict in the Rosi program on Kompas TV. This analysis will explore how the language and narratives used by Richard Eliezer and the program presenters shape public perception of his case and identify the ideology and power operating behind the discourse. Method. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The method of analysis in this research is description and interpretation. The data of this research is taken from the discourse of the news video of Richard Eliezer's expression after the verdict of the murder of Brigadier Yoshua. Results. The results showed that Richard Eliezer's confession was structured with language that sought to construct his image as a victim and seek public sympathy. The program presenter played an important role in reinforcing this narrative through empathetic and supportive questions. The ideologies identified in this discourse include attempts to redefine justice and challenge existing power structures. Conclusion. That the discourse in the Rosi program related to Richard Eliezer's confession after the verdict shows efforts to reconstruct self-image through the strategic use of language and narrative. The discourse not only reflects the power and ideology operating but also directs public opinion towards a particular interpretation of justice. This analysis provides a deeper understanding of how the media can influence perceptions and shape social reality.]]>
