Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is a journal on Faculty of Education. Jurnal JERKIN: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is under the auspices of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai. Abstract

Oil palm is a strategic commodity that serves as the main livelihood for rural communities; however, smallholder oil palm farmers continue to face low income levels, particularly during the immature phase of oil palm cultivation, which lasts for 3–4 years. This condition highlights the need for adaptive farming strategies that can generate short-term income without disrupting the main crop. This community service program aimed to empower smallholder oil palm farmers through the implementation of an entrepreneurship-based intercropping system using edamame to increase farmers’ income and strengthen sustainable rural economic development. A participatory approach was employed, actively involving farmers in all stages of the program, including situation analysis, training and extension activities, implementation of edamame intercropping demonstration plots, and evaluation through focus group discussions. The program was implemented on approximately 1,000 m² of smallholder oil palm land using edamame as an intercrop. The results indicate that edamame intercropping effectively optimizes the use of inter-row spaces in oil palm plantations, provides additional short-term income due to its short harvesting period, and enhances farmers’ knowledge and skills in crop management, business management, and digital-based marketing.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis bentuk-bentuk penindasan terhadap perempuan dalam novel A Thosand Splendid Suns karya Khaled Hosseini dan BumiManusia karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer dengan menggunakan teori feminisme. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskrptif dengan teknik baca dan catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya delapan bentuk penindasan, yaitu diskriminasi, labelisasi, kekerasan, subordinasi, komodifikasi, marjinalisasi, objektifikasi seksual, beban ganda, dan feminisasi kemiskinan. Kedua novel meskipun berasal dari konteks budaya dan sejarah berbeda, memperlihatkan pola penindasan yang serupa serta menggambarkan ketahanan dan perlawanan perempuan terhadap sistem patriarki. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa karya sastra merupakan medium penting untuk memahami ketidakadilan gender dan perjuangan perempuan dalam masyarakat.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the competence of teachers at SDN 1 Sumber Agung in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and educational games as innovative learning tools. The program was conducted through workshops, mentoring sessions, and hands-on practice using various AI platforms and simple educational game development aligned with classroom content. Evaluation using a Likert-scale questionnaire indicates that teachers responded positively in several aspects, including understanding the material, ease of technology use, ability to apply AI media and educational games, and increased creativity in designing learning activities. The results demonstrate that the training effectively strengthened teachers’ technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) in an integrated manner. The program also increased teachers’ enthusiasm for adopting digital innovations and broadened the variety of learning strategies used in the classroom. Overall, this program successfully supported a shift toward more interactive, engaging, and student-centered learning practices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the efficiency and effectiveness of financial management at PKBM Andalan Bangsa, with a focus on the use of BOS funds and student tuition fees. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through field observations, interviews with PKBM administrators, teachers, and students, as well as documentation related to financial management. The results show that financial management at PKBM Andalan Bangsa has several weaknesses, such as a lack of transparency in the use of BOS funds, a lack of evaluation mechanisms for the use of SPP funds, and limited funds for the development of facilities and infrastructure. However, PKBM Andalan Bangsa also has several effective strategies, such as the implementation of a flexible SPP payment system and the provision of assistance for underprivileged students. This study concludes that financial management at PKBM Andalan Bangsa needs to be improved to achieve optimal efficiency and effectiveness. The recommendations proposed include increasing transparency, accountability, and evaluation of fund use, as well as developing fundraising strategies to improve the quality of education at PKBM.

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss Technology and Educational Innovation in Islam. The research conducted is a library-based study. Its objective is to seek evidence of the Qur’anic perspective on technology found within the Qur’an itself. This topic is particularly engaging as an academic study within the framework of tafsir ilmi (scientific exegesis), using a thematic exegesis approach (tafsir maudu’i). The study concludes that the Qur’an does, in fact, address technology in several surahs and verses, including: first, Surah Hud verse 37; second, Surah An-Nahl verse 14; and third, Surah Al-Kahf verse 96. The interpretation of these verses was carried out through contextual and historical approaches, while also considering the views of scholars and experts. The findings of this study are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the Qur’anic perspective on technology and innovation, as well as how these views can be applied in the context of modern science.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of Islamic education curriculum management in integrating Islamic and humanitarian values ​​in Islamic educational institutions. This research is motivated by the persistence of curriculum management that separates the strengthening of religiosity and social awareness of students. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies at purposively selected Islamic educational institutions, and analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that curriculum management development is carried out through planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating functions oriented towards the integration of Islamic and humanitarian values. Learning planning combines religiosity and social awareness, organizing involves collaboration between leaders and teachers, implementation integrates values ​​in learning and religious and social activities, and evaluation assesses cognitive, attitudinal, and behavioral aspects, although still needs improvement. The study concludes that planned and sustainable curriculum management contributes to the formation of religious and humanistic students and recommends strengthening teacher capacity and developing more comprehensive evaluation instruments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of government expenditure and investment on the Constant Price Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) in North Sumatra Province. A quantitative approach with multiple linear regression design was used, with government expenditure and investment as independent variables and PDRB as the dependent variable. Secondary data from 2010 to 2024 were collected from the Central Statistics Agency of North Sumatra Province. The analysis was conducted using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimation, including classical assumption tests, partial (t) and simultaneous (F) significance tests, and determination coefficient (R²). The results indicate that government expenditure has a positive and significant effect on PDRB, investment also exerts a positive and significant effect, and together both variables have a significant simultaneous impact on regional economic growth. These findings emphasize the importance of coordinating fiscal policies and investment strategies to promote sustainable economic growth. The study provides empirical evidence that can serve as a reference for regional governments in designing more efficient and effective development policies and budget allocation to enhance production capacity and public welfare.

Abstract

Online loan agreements are executed in the form of electronic contracts that are legally recognized under Articles 1320 and 1338 of the Indonesian Civil Code and Article 1 point 17 of Law No. 11 of 2008 on Electronic Information and Transactions. However, the principle of freedom of contract, which theoretically grants autonomy to the parties, is often not substantively realized because fintech agreements are generally presented as standard form contracts unilaterally drafted by the providers. This imbalance in bargaining power frequently results in unfair clauses prohibited under Article 18 of Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection. Moreover, issues such as excessive interest rates, misuse of personal data, and unethical debt collection practices indicate violations of consumer protection and data security regulations as stipulated in the ITE Law, Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection, and Financial Services Authority Regulation (POJK) No. 77/POJK.01/2016. This study employs a normative legal research method using statutory, conceptual, and case approaches to analyze the relationship between the principle of freedom of contract and the civil liability of fintech providers. The findings indicate that fintech operators may be held civilly liable on the basis of breach of contract under Article 1243 of the Civil Code or tort liability under Article 1365 when consumer rights are violated.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the deep learning approach implementation program at Mesuji 1 State Junior High School in November 2025 using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model to support the 21st century learning transformation. The deep learning approach is defined as an in-depth learning methodology that integrates exploration, conceptual understanding, and critical application based on artificial intelligence, aligned with the Independent Curriculum and the 8 graduate profiles. This research was descriptive qualitative with purposive sampling of the principal and two teachers, collecting data through semi-structured interviews and observations. The evaluation showed that the program context was highly relevant to national education policy (100% of respondents); input achieved 70% adequacy with effective teacher training but was hampered by ICT infrastructure; the implementation process was optimal through problem-based learning (PBL) and student-centered simulations despite time constraints and student heterogeneity; and the product resulted in a 15-20% increase in learning achievement, student motivation, and graduate profile achievement, albeit partially due to limited training. This program is innovative in advancing digital education, but requires holistic investment for sustainability, with theoretical contributions to the evaluation of deep learning at the junior high school level as well as practical implications as a reference for replication.

Abstract

This study discusses Indonesian language and literature learning strategies for developing writing, reading, and creative thinking skills. The literature study method, with thematic analysis, comparative analysis, and narrative synthesis of ten literatures that met the inclusion criteria, was used. The results showed that a combination of thematic, comparative or varied, and innovative or creative learning strategies can improve language skills comprehensively. Thematic strategies facilitate contextual understanding of concepts, comparative and varied strategies encourage active engagement and literacy, while innovative and creative strategies stimulate students' imagination, critical thinking, and creativity. Positive impacts are seen in improving reading skills through text comprehension and vocabulary enrichment, writing skills through creative expression of ideas and coherent writing structures, and creative thinking skills through problem-solving and innovation exercises. Teacher challenges, such as limited media and differences in student abilities, can be overcome by integrating interactive methods, differentiated approaches, and applying best practices from the literature. This study provides practical guidance for teachers to design language and literature learning that is more effective, enjoyable, and relevant to the development of students literacy and creativity.
