Abstract

Learning to read the yellowIslamic classic books in pesantren often faces obstacles such as complicated Arabic grammar, texts without harakat, and traditional teaching methods that take years. This study analyzes the management of the accelerated yellowclassic book reading program using the Umdati method at Darul Hijrah Pamekasan Islamic Boarding School. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with purposive sampling, data were collected from caregivers, program managers, and santri through interviews, observation, and documentation. Analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings show that the Umdati-based program effectively shortens the learning period from several years to about 12 months by optimizing three key management functions. Planning is guided by the SMART framework, which targets mastery of basic nahwu in 5 months. The Umdati method simplifies the classical nahwu material into 16 pages, with a composition of 30% theory and 70% practice. The implementation is carried out in five sessions every day using intermittent repetition to strengthen memory. Evaluation is done through formative (daily, weekly, monthly) and summative (end of program) assessments. The success of this program shows that innovation in pesantren education can be done without sacrificing traditional values and learning ethos.

Abstract

In the digital age, public relations (PR) management plays a strategic role in enhancing the competitiveness of Islamic boarding schools through communication innovation and institutional branding. However, many pesantren still rely on conventional communication patterns, resulting in a mismatch between public expectations and institutional capacities. This study aims to analyze the transformation of public relations strategies at Nurul Jihad Islamic Boarding School in responding to digital challenges and increasing institutional competitiveness. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, documentation, and participatory observation, then analyzed thematically. The results show that PR planning is categorized into routine and incidental programs, emphasizing flexibility and responsiveness. Implementation combines traditional and digital media to maintain cultural values while expanding outreach. Evaluation is carried out collaboratively, involving internal and external stakeholders, and supported by capacity building through Focus Group Discussions. This strategic transformation reflects an adaptive PR model that aligns with the two-way symmetrical communication theory and the PESO model. The study concludes that successful PR transformation requires not only technological adaptation but also human resource development and participatory management. The findings contribute to strengthening the institutional image and competitiveness of Islamic boarding schools in an increasingly digitalized educational landscape.

Abstract

The difference between the intellectual tradition of the pesantren and other forms of education is the existence of the sanad. From the perspective of Ibn Qayyim Al-Jauzy, sanad can be said to go beyond thecologicalal linearity of Islamic knowledge which is commonly called ‘ilm jally. Not only that, Imam Syafi'i once said that if knowledge is not memorized by the sanad in the book then the Zindiq people will preach in the pulpit. The famous saying of Imam Abdullah bin Mubarak says, and is part of religion, without sanad surely people will say whatever they want. Even advanced sanad (ittishal al-sanad) is one of the conditions for the validity of a hadith as described in the musthalahul hadith book. For this reason, hadith expert scholars (al-muhadditsin) pay great attention to sanad in their disciplines. Most of this muhadditsin write special books about sanad. In its development, not only about the study of hadith, all scientific enthusiasts, book history, and scientific genealogy through teachers and students are written in a book known as tsabat. In the context of scientific knowledge, it can then be traced to the products of his thought. For this reason, the author wants to provide a re-description, of how true the thinking of native Indonesian (archipelagic) scholars is in the context of building an existing national attitude

Abstract

The "nyabis" or "silaturahmi" culture is part of Indonesian people's social and religious culture, especially by the santri or Islamic boarding school students. Nyabis activities are carried out to show respect and respect for fellow students who are more senior, scholars or teachers at Islamic boarding schools, as well as community leaders visiting Islamic boarding schools. Nyabis culture in Islamic boarding schools has an essential role in the life of students. Nyabis activities can strengthen social relations between students and scholars or teachers at Islamic boarding schools to create a harmonious and conducive atmosphere within the Islamic boarding school. In addition, nyabis are also a means for sharing knowledge and experiences among students. Nyabis activities are usually carried out at certain times, such as when guests visit Islamic boarding schools or on certain days, such as holidays or important Islamic commemorations. In some pesantren, nyabis activities are carried out on a scheduled or routine basis on certain days of the week. The nyabis culture in Islamic boarding schools shows the importance of social and religious values in the life of santri. Nyabis activities can also be a means to strengthen social and cultural networks in society, as well as to enhance brotherhood among Muslims. Therefore, Nyabis culture must be preserved as part of local wisdom and Indonesian cultural values. Thus, in this study, the researchers tried to unravel the problem of "nyabis" cultural integration with governance carried out by the kiai in the Salafiyah Islamic Boarding School Raudlatul Ulum Sumberwringin Jember. Nyabis activities are carried out to show respect and respect for fellow students who are more senior, scholars or teachers at Islamic boarding schools, as well as community leaders visiting Islamic boarding schools.
