Abstract

Early childhood literacy is an important foundation for cognitive development and educational success. However, parents’ understanding of the role of family literacy is still limited. This community service activity aims to improve parents’ knowledge and awareness of the importance of their involvement in developing children’s literacy. The partners in this activity were members of the community at the Car Free Day (CFD) area of GOR H. Agus Salim, Padang, with the main target being parents with early childhood-aged children, involving a total of 14 active participants. The method used was simple educational outreach through the distribution of brochures (leaflets), accompanied by brief explanations and question-and-answer sessions. The results of the activity showed an increase in parents’ understanding, awareness, and motivation to implement literacy activities at home, such as shared reading and interactive communication. These findings are supported by studies indicating that the family literacy environment significantly influences children’s language development and school readiness. Therefore, family literacy outreach through brochure-based education is effective as an effort to empower communities in improving the quality of early childhood education

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted with the aim of improving students’ understanding and skills in solving problems based on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). Mathematical literacy is one of the key competencies in education, particularly in addressing the challenges of national and international assessments. This activity was attended by 37 students from SMK Assalam using a participatory approach that included material presentations, discussions on problem-solving strategies, independent practice, as well as reflection and evaluation of learning outcomes. Pre-test and post-test evaluations showed an increase in participants’ average scores, reaching 85%. This indicates an improvement in their understanding and skills in solving problems based on real-life contexts. Additionally, feedback from participants indicated that the majority felt more confident and benefited from the problem-solving techniques provided in this workshop. However, several challenges were encountered during the activity, including students’ difficulty in understanding context-based problems and time management issues while working on the problems. Therefore, for similar activities in the future, it is recommended that there be further mentoring, more intensive practice with problems, and a group-discussion-based approach to optimize understanding. Overall, this workshop made a positive contribution to improving students’ mathematical literacy and can serve as a model for schools in developing more applied and problem-solving-based learning.

Abstract

Stunting is a growth failure condition in children caused by long-term chronic malnutrition that may affect physical growth, cognitive development, activity, and immune function. Early detection of nutritional status among school-age children can be conducted through anthropometric measurements, including body weight and height, followed by Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation as an initial screening method. This community service activity aimed to describe the nutritional status and potential risk of stunting among elementary school students in Balang Baru Village, Tarowang District, Jeneponto Regency. The activity involved 215 students from three elementary schools, consisting of 16 students from SDN 9 Tarowang, 85 students from SDN 18 Tarowang, and 114 students from SDN 15 Tarowang. The methods included partner coordination, body weight and height measurement, BMI calculation, nutritional status classification, and descriptive analysis using frequency and percentage. The results showed that 155 students (72.09%) had normal nutritional status, 42 students (19.53%) were classified as underweight, and 18 students (8.37%) were classified as overweight. These findings indicate that most students had normal nutritional status; however, underweight students still require further monitoring as part of early stunting prevention through school- and community-based efforts.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding of students at SMA Amanatul Ummah Surabaya about methods to prevent digital fraud and protect personal data. The activity was carried out through interactive lectures, discussions, case simulations, and Q&A sessions involving 40 students. To evaluate the results, pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to measure the participants' understanding. The evaluation results showed that the average score of the participants increased from 68.25 to 91.05, or by 33.41%. This activity effectively enhances students' digital literacy and encourages safer and more responsible digital behavior.

Abstract

Developing entrepreneurial character in the younger generation is a crucial effort to improve the quality of human resources capable of creating independent business opportunities. This community service activity aims to enhance the understanding, motivation, and entrepreneurial character of university students. The activity was conducted at Rokania University and involved 400 students from various study programs. The method used was entrepreneurship training and mentoring through the stages of needs identification, material delivery, discussion, business idea development simulations, and activity evaluation. Data was collected through observation, documentation, and participant reflection, then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the concept of entrepreneurship, their ability to identify business opportunities, and their motivation to start a business. Furthermore, there was a development in entrepreneurial character, demonstrated by increased creativity, innovation, self-confidence, responsibility, discipline, teamwork skills, and risk-taking. The training and mentoring provided were proven effective in developing students' entrepreneurial character, thus providing them with the necessary tools to create independent businesses and increase their competitiveness in the future.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education is very important in building the economic independence of the younger generation. Unfortunately, many vocational high school students in Indonesia do not yet have practical knowledge about good business planning. Therefore, this community service activity is held to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of SMKN 6 Padang students. This activity uses the Business Model Canvas (BMC) training method, which is a practical and easy-to-understand approach to business planning.Thirty students from the XI Hospitality Department participated in this activity. The methods used were very varied, ranging from lectures, workshops, group discussions, to group simulations of creating a BMC. As a result, the participants had a better understanding of the nine elements of the BMC, namely customer segments, value propositions, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partnerships, and cost structure. They also successfully created BMCs for their respective business ideas.This program proves that BMC-based training is very effective in fostering the entrepreneurial spirit of vocational students. Therefore, this program is highly recommended as a model for sustainable service in higher education outreach programs. Thus, it is expected to help improve the economic independence of the younger generation in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Mount Marapi cold lava flood disaster that struck Jorong Aur, Nagari Barulak, Tanjuang Baru District, Tanah Datar Regency, caused significant damage to agricultural land and the community's irrigation system. This community service program aim store store agricultural land function through has eriesofactivities, including mapping and identifying affected land, clearing and physically rehabilitating the land, and repairing irrigation channels. The implementation method was a participatory approach involving the community, farmer groups, and the village government. The results indicate that most of the land buried by volcanic material was successfully cleared and can be re-cultivated, the main irrigation channel is functional, and the community has experienced increased capacity in post-disaster agricultural management. In addition to physical outcomes, this activity also resulted in the implementation of soil biorehabilitation with organic fertilizer. This program contributes to improving food security, strengthening mutual cooperation, and raising community awarenessof the importance of sustainable land management after a disaster.

Abstract

The current development of the food industry demands innovation in healthy beverages, especially for early childhood who are in a period of growth. One of Indonesia's local plants rich in benefits but not yet widely utilized is Etlingera elatior, better known as Patikala. This plant has properties as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and helps boost the immune system. Kalatea Kids is presented as an educational herbal tea product based on Patikala, specially formulated for early childhood. Not only offering health benefits, Kalatea Kids is also designed as an educational tool through illustrated interactive packaging, bright colors, and simple moral messages. This product is targeted as a healthy alternative to artificially sweetened beverages, while also introducing children to local herbal plants from an early age. Promotion and distribution are carried out through social media and PAUD (Early Childhood Education) communities. The product is packaged in tea bag form with child-friendly materials, caffeine-free, and processed hygienically. It is hoped that Kalatea Kids will become a healthy beverage product that is not only safe, but also encourages local plant literacy and a healthy lifestyle from an early age.

Abstract

Reflective competence is one of the important skills that must be possessed by Professional Teacher Education (PPG) students to improve the quality of teaching practice. However, student reflection on learning practice still tends to be descriptive and does not demonstrate in-depth self-evaluation skills. This community service activity aims to strengthen PPG students' reflective competence through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) on guided learning practices. The activity was carried out with five PPG students majoring in Indonesian Language at SMP Negeri 7 Padang during three cycles of guided learning practices. The methods used included reflection mentoring, FGD implementation, providing feedback by the supervising lecturer and mentor teacher, and ongoing reflection in each cycle. Data obtained from reflection worksheets from Cycles 1, 2, and 3 were analyzed descriptively. The results of the activity showed an increase in the quality of student reflection, especially in the aspects of learning analysis, identification of obstacles, self-evaluation, and follow-up planning. In the first and second cycles, student reflections were still predominantly descriptive, while in the third cycle students were able to conduct more analytical and critical reflections on the learning practices implemented. Thus, FGDs proved effective in strengthening PPG students' reflective competence and can be used as a mentoring strategy in guided learning practices.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to develop the potential of senior high school students in the fields of coding and artificial intelligence (AI). The hands-on training was conducted online via Zoom Meetings for synchronous sessions and an LMS for quizzes and exercises from September 15 to November 25, 2025. 60 senior high school students from 13 provinces across Indonesia participated and were divided into three classes. The results indicate that students’ knowledge increased substantially, as reflected in the improvement in mean test scores across all classes: from 54.87 to 83.13 in Class A, from 65.31 to 80.56 in Class B, and from 62.83 to 70.93 in Class C. The program demonstrated a significant positive impact, particularly in enhancing participants’ knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and coding, as well as their technical skills and character development.
