Abstract

This research examines the dynamics of power struggle through digital communication in the novel Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon using the Foucauldian discourse analysis approach. This study has three main objectives: first, to analyze the representation of digital communication in the story; second, to examine the construction of power struggle through digital communication in the story; and third, to explore the implications of power struggle in human relations in the digital era as depicted in the novel. The study focuses on how digital communication functions as a medium of power relations, especially in the context of the main character, Madeline Whittier, who relies on digital platforms to interact with the outside world due to her isolation. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, based on Michel Foucault's theory of power, knowledge, and discourse. The results of the analysis show that digital communication in Everything, Everything not only facilitates interpersonal relationships, but also becomes an instrument of domination as well as resistance. This study highlights how digital technology mediates emotions, decision- making, and shapes power structures in contemporary society. Through a Foucauldian discourse approach, this study contributes to literary studies and digital communication theory, and bridges the gap between classical discourse analysis and modern technological realities. In addition, the findings offer practical insights for educators, parents, and policy makers in understanding the complexity of digital interactions among teenagers.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model on students' learning outcomes in the topic of Reaction Rate Equations and Factors Affecting Reaction Rates at SMA Srijaya Negara Palembang. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design involving two groups: an experimental class and a control class. The results showed an increase in learning outcomes in both classes. The average score in the experimental class increased from 39.41 to 59.70, while in the control class it increased from 43.70 to 53.70. However, the Mann-Whitney test yielded a significance value of 0.123 (p > 0.05), indicating no statistically significant difference between the experimental and control classes. Thus, the Discovery Learning model has not been proven to have a significant effect on students' learning outcomes compared to the conventional Direct Instruction model. Nevertheless, the increase in scores in the experimental class suggests that this model still holds potential to enhance student engagement and understanding. Therefore, Discovery Learning may be considered as an alternative strategy in teaching chemistry topics that require active student participation

Abstract

Mathematics is an abstract concept and is built through deductive reasoning. These two factors make mathematics difficult for elementary school students to understand. Consequently, the process of learning mathematics presents a particular challenge for teachers. This Student Creativity Program (PKM) is a follow-up to previous research, which showed that students' understanding of the concept of area of a plane shape was as follows: 66% of students had a very poor understanding, 31% had a poor understanding, and 3% had a fairly good understanding. No students were able to fully understand the concept of area of a plane shape. This PKM aims to: 1) improve mathematics teachers' competence in understanding inductive learning models in mathematics, and 2) improve their ability to effectively use visual aids for the concept of area of a plane shape in inductive learning models. Both objectives are expected to impact the quality of students' understanding of basic mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Arabic is one of the subjects taught at Islamic higher education institutions in Indonesia, including at Al-Falah As-Sunniyah University. However, the teaching of Arabic at Al-Falah As-Sunniyah University often encounters various challenges, particularly those related to linguistic and non-linguistic issues. Moreover, problems in Arabic language instruction are closely linked to the developments of the times and advancements in technology. This article discusses the problems of Arabic language learning among students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program at Al-Falah As-Sunniyah University, Kencong-Jember, with the university serving as the case study location. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including interviews and observations. The findings indicate several problems that contribute to students’ difficulties in mastering Arabic, namely linguistic and non-linguistic issues. To overcome these obstacles, a contextual and practice-based learning approach is required, along with explicit integration of phonetic instruction, utilization of interactive technology, and adaptive, inclusive pedagogical strategies that consider students' cultural backgrounds and learning needs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of social media on the understanding of Islam among students at SMP Negeri 1 Mantup (Mantup 1 Public Junior High School). The rapid development of information technology, especially social media platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has become an inseparable part of teenagers' daily lives. On one hand, social media can serve as a tool for spreading religious information quickly and widely. On the other hand, unverified content or a mix of religious values and popular culture has the potential to cause misunderstandings about Islamic teachings. This research uses a qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and questionnaires distributed to students in grades VII to IX. The results show that while many students obtain religious information from social media, not all are able to distinguish between teachings based on authentic sources and personal opinions from influencers. Family environment and the role of religious teachers also influence students' level of understanding of Islamic teachings. The study concludes that social media has a dual impact both positive and negative on the understanding of Islam, depending on usage control as well as students’ digital and religious literacy skills. Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of inclusive education at TK IT Nurul Ilmi as a form of the institution's commitment to upholding the right to education for children with special needs (ABK) in a general learning environment. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The results of the study show that Nurul Ilmi Islamic Kindergarten has opened access to education for children with special needs thru an adaptive and flexible learning approach, although it has not fully met all the indicators of inclusive education success comprehensively. The implementation of learning emphasizes the development of children's social skills by involving special companion teachers (GPK), supported by collaboration between teachers, school principals, parents, and professional staff. This study recommends the need to improve educators' competencies thru inclusion training, providing adequate resources, and strengthening institutional support to enhance the implementation of education.
