Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the values of character education in the novel Si Anak Pelangi by Tere Liye through a pragmatic approach and its implications for Indonesian language learning. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method. The data in this research consists of dialogues between characters in the novel Si Anak Pelangi by Tere Liye. The study analyzes the manifestation of character education values using a pragmatic approach. The data collection technique used is the read-and-note technique, aimed at obtaining analysis results and an overview of the character education values present in the novel. The data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The character education values found in the novel Si Anak Pelangi include the 18 character education values defined by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. Based on the analysis, a total of 41 character values were identified. These include: 4 religious values, 8 honesty values, 4 tolerance values, 2 discipline values, 3 hard work values, 1 creativity value, 1 independence value, 2 democratic values, 1 curiosity value, 1 spirit of nationalism value, 2 patriotism values, 1 appreciation for achievement value, 1 friendship value, 2 love of peace values, 1 reading habit value, 1 environmental care value, 2 social care values, and 4 responsibility values. The analysis of character education values in the novel Si Anak Pelangi by Tere Liye can be implemented in Indonesian language learning, particularly in the study of novels. Novel material appears in the advanced-level Indonesian language and literature textbook for 12th grade in the Merdeka Curriculum (Phase F), under the topic “Analyzing Values in Novel Excerpts.” The Learning Outcomes (Capaian Pembelajaran - CP) applied include the reading and viewing component, where students are asked to analyze dialogues in the novel, and the speaking and presenting component, where students present their analysis of the dialogues to the class and respond to peer feedback. The implication of this research takes the form of a teaching module for analyzing values in novels and a Student Worksheet (Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik - LKPD).

Abstract

This study aims to develop concrete learning media of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model based on ethnomatematics by integrating local cultural elements, namely the traditional Batak Toba house, in order to improve students' understanding of the concept of flat shapes, especially isosceles triangles. The background of this study is the low motivation where students in mathematics learning still use conventional methods and the minimal use of relevant and interesting media in mathematics learning. The method used in the study is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model consisting of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects in this study involved grade III students of SD Negeri 105375 Sukasari. Data collection instruments were in the form of interviews, validation questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed that the concrete learning media developed were valid based on the results of the expert assessment of the material validator, namely 85%, teaching modules and media 80%, from the results stated practical and effective based on teacher responses 81%. This media helps students understand the concept of isosceles triangles through the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach that links learning with local culture. Cultural integration in mathematics learning not only increases motivation, but also fosters a sense of love and appreciation for regional cultural heritage. Thus, concrete learning media based on traditional Batak Toba houses can be used as an innovative alternative in mathematics learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This research analyzes the concept of "high quality women" in the Indonesian marriage context as a complex and multidimensional social phenomenon. The transformation of partner selection criteria from the traditional era to modernity reflects fundamental changes in contemporary marriage paradigms. Using a narrative literature review approach, this study explores the definition, social perception, and implications of this concept on relationship dynamics in Indonesian society. Findings indicate that the concept of "high quality women" encompasses academic achievement, financial stability, physical appearance, and personality that balances modern independence with traditional values. Digital media, particularly social media platforms, serves as the primary catalyst in constructing and disseminating standards of female ideality, while globalization influences introduce templates that are not always compatible with local culture. Significant impacts on partner selection dynamics include the emergence of "checklist mentality" and "relationship inflation" resulting in delayed relationship formation. Psychological implications show increased anxiety and perfectionism among women, with self-worth construction dependent on external validation. The negotiation process between modern concepts and traditional Indonesian values creates unique identity complexities requiring balance between personal aspirations and cultural expectations. This research provides important contributions to understanding the evolution of marriage standards and their impact on women's well-being in contemporary Indonesian society.

Abstract

Sexual violence against women not only impacts physical and mental health but also fundamentally alters how they understand and construct meaning around the institution of marriage. This study aims to analyze the impact of sexual violence on marriage meaning construction among adult women through a systematic literature review method. Literature search was conducted through PsycINFO, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and JSTOR databases with inclusion criteria of articles published in 2010-2024, focusing on adult women survivors of sexual violence, and relevant to marriage meaning construction. Results reveal dramatic transformation in marriage meaning construction, where the concept of marriage as a "safe haven" transforms into a source of anxiety and uncertainty. Women survivors experience expectation changes from optimistic to realistic or pessimistic, accompanied by profound fears of physical intimacy, loss of control, and potential re-traumatization. Intimacy and trust aspects experience the most complex impacts, creating difficulties in forming deep emotional connections. Nevertheless, women survivors demonstrate adaptive capacity through constructive coping strategies such as gradual communication with partners and seeking professional help. The meaning reconstruction process is influenced by internal factors (resilience, belief systems) and external factors (social support, access to mental health services). This research emphasizes the need for developing trauma-informed therapeutic interventions and holistic psychosocial support programs to help women survivors build healthy and meaningful marital relationships.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah education integrates Islamic and Muhammadiyah values in learning, including mathematics, to form students who excel intellectually and spiritually through materials such as zakat and inheritance. However, the implementation of this integrative curriculum still faces challenges, such as limited teacher understanding, minimal references, and lack of systematic guidance, so that effective and applicable learning strategies and modules are needed. This study uses a qualitative approach with a historical method to analyze the integration of Islamic and Muhammadiyah values in the mathematics curriculum, especially the material on zakat and inheritance in Muhammadiyah schools, with secondary data analyzed qualitatively through data reduction, presentation, and triangulation of sources to ensure data validity. This study concludes that the integration of Islamic and Muhammadiyah values in zakat and inheritance learning in the mathematics curriculum of Muhammadiyah Schools is effective in shaping students' character and improving their understanding of mathematical concepts. This approach successfully links mathematical concepts with the values of justice, honesty, and social concern, as well as strengthening students' motivation and religious awareness. Despite challenges related to limited resources and teacher training, positive impacts on students' cognitive, affective, and spiritual aspects are still evident. To improve its effectiveness, it is recommended to develop comprehensive teaching materials, more intensive teacher training, and stronger collaboration between teachers. Abstract

Vocabulary acquisition plays a central role in English language learning, yet many learners struggle to expand their vocabulary through conventional classroom instruction. Recent developments in digital technology have introduced alternative platforms for language acquisition, including Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs), which offer rich linguistic input and interactive environments. This study investigates how Indonesian EFL learners acquire English vocabulary through their engagement with Ragnarok M: Eternal Love, a popular MMORPG. Employing a descriptive qualitative research design, data were collected from 50 active players via an online questionnaire consisting of both closed- and open-ended items. The findings reveal that vocabulary is acquired incidentally through repeated exposure to in-game texts such as quest instructions, NPC dialogues, item descriptions, and player communication. Players employed various strategies for vocabulary learning, including contextual guessing, translation tools, and peer support. Social interaction, motivation, and gameplay immersion were identified as significant factors influencing vocabulary retention. These results support theoretical perspectives such as Krashen’s Input Hypothesis, Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory, and Gee’s Situated Learning. The study highlights the potential of MMORPGs as informal learning environments and provides pedagogical implications for integrating game-based learning into English language instruction. Abstract

The low interest of teenagers as successors of traditional culture and the increasingly fading character values is the background of this research. The researcher sees the need for concrete actions to improve the character of today's youth by implementing character education. Character education itself is an effort to help individuals cultivate attitudes, thoughts, feelings, words, and actions that align with the values of norms, customs, and the culture of the nation. Character education is not only limited to formal institutions but must also be comprehensive through both non-formal and informal institutions. The implementation of character education in the gamelan studio is a means that can be used to instill character values. This research aims to describe the role of the coach in the implementation of character education and to describe the character values contained in the implementation of gamelan training at Sanggar Cipto Laras. This research employs a qualitative case study approach using data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis utilizes the Miles and Huberman model by performing data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification. The results of this study are: 1) The role of trainers in the implementation of character education includes being a role model, inspirator, motivator, dynamizer, and evaluator. 2) The values contained in the art training include creativity, discipline, love for the homeland, friendship, responsibility, environmental awareness, and hard work. Thus, the role of a trainer is crucial in efforts to cultivate character for the next generation of morally and ethically valuable citizens. The success of character education implementation requires consistency and collective awareness so that these values can be well internalized within each individual.
