Jurnal PEMBAHAS (Pembelajaran Bahasa dan Sastra) [p-ISSN 2809-5367][e-ISSN: 2809-6355] has the aim to develop and disseminate science and technology through scientific articles on the results of research and study of concepts or theories in an effort to enrich the scientific realm in the field of language and literature teaching. Jurnal PEMBAHAS (Pembelajaran Bahasa dan Sastra) is a journal that covers issues concerning at languages and lerature teaching and learning at the all level of education. This article is based on the results of research and theoretical studies which are equivalent to research supported by various theoretical studies that produce research in the form of educational research, learning research, and classroom action research. Abstract

This study aims to examine the personality dynamics of the main character in the novel through Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis. The research focuses on the structure of the main character’s personality and how the interaction between these elements gives rise to personality dynamics in the form of instincts (life and death) and anxiety (realistic, neurotic, and moral). Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study analyzes the narrative text and dialogue in the novel Kereta Semar Lembu through reading and note-taking techniques and content analysis techniques. The results show that the main character has a dominant id, driving the fulfillment of the pleasure principle and sexual needs. The ego mediates between the id and social reality and the demands of the superego through rational decisions and acceptance of consequences. The superego represents moral values by bringing up social and moral norms, guilt due to moral violations, and anxiety due to moral inconsistencies. The interaction of these three aspects forms the dynamics of personality, namely the instinct to live, which is seen through the desire for exploration and self-growth, as well as adaptation to reality. The death instinct manifests itself in destructive impulses and the desire to end one’s life. Realistic anxiety is evident in the fear of facing reality and damnation, while moral anxiety is reflected in feelings of guilt, sinfulness, and fear of social and religious punishment. These findings confirm that childhood experiences and social environment greatly contribute to shaping the main character’s personality.

Abstract

Open space writing in cities is often found on information boards, banners, and billboards used around the urban environment. Indonesian spelling errors that occur in these writings can affect public understanding and the image of the city itself. Therefore, this study aims to identify the types of Indonesian spelling errors that often occur in the writing of open spaces in Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung. Several factors causing these errors include a lack of understanding of the applicable spelling rules by the public and those responsible for writing open spaces. In addition, inaccuracy in the editing and translation processes is also a significant factor in the emergence of these errors. Misuse of Indonesian spelling in the writing of open spaces in Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung, is still quite common. Therefore, a joint effort is needed to increase public and open space managers’ understanding of the importance of correct language use, in order to create effective communication and improve the city’s visual image. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were obtained through direct observation of writing in various open spaces such as streets, parks, and other public areas in Pangkalpinang City. The author also conducted interviews with several parties involved in the creation and placement of written information in these open spaces. Data sources in this study include information boards, banners, and advertisements.

Abstract

Platform media digital kini menjadi sumber utama informasi global, termasuk isu-isu ekonomi dunia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan pembingkaian berita perang dagang antara Amerika Serikat dan Tiongkok oleh media internasional CNN dan Al-Jazeera pada April 2025. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana kedua media tersebut membingkai konflik kepentingan perdagangan mereka, menggunakan teori pembingkaian Robert Entman. Data utama diambil dari artikel CNN berbahasa Arab yang berjudul “الصين تحتفظ بورقة استراتيجية في صراعها التجاري مع ترامب” dan artikel Al-Jazeera “الصين توقف استثماراتها في وول ستريت ردا على حرب ترامب التجارية”, dan didukung oleh data sekunder dari berbagai studi ilmiah. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pembacaan dan pencatatan, sementara analisis mengikuti model Miles dan Huberman: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa CNN cenderung menampilkan Tiongkok sebagai pihak yang strategis namun agresif, sementara AS sebagai pihak yang berupaya memperkuat kemandirian ekonomi. Sebaliknya, Al-Jazeera menggambarkan Tiongkok secara defensif, merespons tekanan ekonomi dari AS untuk melindungi kepentingan nasional. Perbedaan ini mencerminkan konteks geopolitik media yang memengaruhi konstruksi wacana dan persepsi publik global.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the representation of coastal community life in the poetry anthology "Selain Laut Masih Bergelombang" by Mariati Atkah through a sociology of literature approach. The sociology of literature approach is used to explore the relationship between literary works and the social conditions that form the background of their birth. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method commonly used in social science research, including research in the field of literature. The main data source of this study is the poetry texts contained in the poetry anthology "Selain Laut Masih Bergelombang". Data on the representation of coastal community life in the poetry anthology "Selain Laut Masih Bergelombang" were collected using an observation guide instrument validated by time triangulation assisted by a checklist. The research data were analyzed thematically. The results of the study indicate that this work displays various aspects of coastal community life that are full of meaning, such as perseverance in work, social intimacy, a spirit of togetherness, and local wisdom that grows from human closeness to the sea. In addition, this anthology also depicts social changes that occur due to the influence of modernization, which has an impact on shifting traditional community values. Overall, “Selain Laut Masih Bergelombang” not only has aesthetic value, but also functions as a cultural, social, and spiritual reflection of the lives of Indonesian coastal communities.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the validity level of the “Pengenalan Batik Lingga” e-module, developed using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model in cultural arts learning based on local wisdom. The e-module was designed as an interactive digital medium incorporating Malay cultural values of the Riau Islands, particularly Lingga Batik motifs. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, with validations conducted by three experts: material, media, and language experts. The results showed significant improvements between the first and second validation stages. The average expert validation scores increased from 2.38 (not appropriate) to 4.25 (highly appropriate) for content, 2.28 to 4.00 for media, and 2.26 to 4.00 for language. The overall average increase of 77.5% indicates that the e-module meets the criteria of high validity and feasibility for instructional use. These findings reinforce the importance of developing digital learning media rooted in local culture to enhance learning relevance and motivation in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms, motives, and roles of emotions as triggers for women's prosocial behavior in the film Bolehkah Sekali Saja Kumenangis. The study was conducted in 2025, using film scenes and dialogues containing prosocial actions as data sources. The population of this study comprised all scenes featuring female characters, while the sample comprised scenes that explicitly showed prosocial behaviour. Data were collected through a listening and note-taking technique using a prosocial behaviour coding sheet. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and qualitatively through an interactive analysis model that included data transcription, coding, classification, reduction, presentation, and concluding. The results showed that women's prosocial behaviour in the film comprises four main forms: empathy-altruism, the desire to reduce adverse circumstances, empathic pleasure, and genetic determinism. The prosocial motives of female characters are rooted in complex emotional experiences involving basic emotions such as sadness, anger, joy, fear, surprise, and disgust, which develop into compassion, guilt, and social concern. These results confirm that women's prosocial behavior is not only influenced by social norms, but also serves as a means of emotional recovery that strengthens empathy and social solidarity.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the poetic function in Khazal Al-Majidi's poem Al-Gharaniq Al-'Ulaa using a structural approach based on Roman Jakobson's theory of language function. The analysis focuses on three primary linguistic levels: phonology, syntax, and semantics. Through this approach, the study explores sound elements such as assonance and alliteration, sentence structure, and symbolic meaning in the poem, contributing to the formation of aesthetic effects and complex poetic messages. The data collection procedures in this study involved several stages: (1) reading the entire poem Al-Gharaniq Al-’Ulaa; (2) identifying lines related to phonological features; (3) identifying lines related to syntactic structures; (4) identifying lines that reflect semantic structures; (5) selecting and reducing data to ensure relevance and focus; (6) interpreting the selected data descriptively; and (7) presenting the findings in the form of research results, followed by drawing conclusions. The data were analyzed using a structural approach based on Roman Jakobson's language function theory. The results show that the poem utilizes intensive repetition of vowel and consonant sounds to create certain rhythms and emotional nuances. At the syntactic level, a flexible and stylish grammatical structure is found, supporting the delivery of meaning both implicitly and explicitly. Meanwhile, from a semantic perspective, the poem contains strong metaphors and symbolism, especially in the representation of "gharaniq" as a symbol of noble values ??lost in the chaos of meaning. Thus, the poetic function in this poem not only serves to embellish the form but also to strengthen the content and spiritual depth of the message conveyed. This research emphasizes the importance of a poetic approach in understanding the aesthetic and semantic dimensions of modern Arabic poetry.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of students’ abilities in writing romantic poetry and students’ responses to learning to write romantic poetry.. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Cianjur in April 2025. The class X students who were used as the research population were 434 students with a research sample of 35 students. Experimental methodone group pretest posttest designwith the data collection technique used is a test technique in the form of a test sheet and a non-test technique in the form of a questionnaire sheet. The data analysis tool used is the use of the SPSS application to process test result data and matrix tabulation to present student response questionnaire data. The findings obtained that the average class value in the pretest was 73 with a Classical Absorption Capacity (DSK) of 60% with a sufficient increase category while the average class value in the posttest was 96 with a DSK of 94% with a very good increase category. In this study, a Wilcoxon hypothesis test was carried out because the sample data was not normally distributed with the results of the hypothesis test obtained an Asymp.Sig value (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05, then H0 was rejected, H1 was accepted which means that learning usingscramble textPjBL-based learning can improve students’ ability in writing romantic poetry with the results of the N-Gain test obtaining an average score of 0.8805 in the high category with a percentage of 88% in the effective category, which means that the mediascramble textThe PjBL model is effectively used in learning to write romantic poetry. The overall student response, both to the media and the learning model used, showed a positive response, meaning that students liked, enjoyed, and found it easy for them to create/write romantic poetry.

Abstract

Koes Plus is a music band that was once established in Indonesia which was formed in 1969, this music group is widely known as one of the pioneers of pop and rock and roll genre songs in Indonesia, as well as one of the most productive and longest-standing music groups. "Kolam Susu" is a song created by Yok Koeswoyo and sung by the music group Koes Plus and first appeared on the album Volume 8 in 1973. This study aims to facilitate listeners in understanding the meaning contained in the song Kolam Susu through the analysis of symbolic figures of speech contained in the song lyrics. This study uses a descriptive method based on a qualitative approach with the main data source in the form of the song lyrics Kolam Susu. The data of this study, namely written song lyrics as a data source, were collected using observation guidelines with time triangulation techniques through a checklist. The analysis technique is based on clause language units to identify the symbolic figures of speech used. The results of the study revealed that there are six clauses in the song Kolam Susu that contain symbolic figures of speech, which play an important role in conveying meaning implicitly and enriching the song's message. This finding shows that symbolic figures of speech are effectively used as a tool to facilitate listeners in capturing deep meaning in song lyrics. This study is expected to contribute to the study of semantics and appreciation of Indonesian music.

Abstract

This study aims to elaborate and develop French language thematic comics based on creative visual media, namely comics titled Les Aventures d’Aurora et Eamon à Paris, which are specifically designed to improve reading skills at the A1 level and focus on the theme of tourism. This study uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with instruments in the form of validation sheets for language experts and media experts. The research population consists of language and media experts, while the sample is one language expert and one media expert who provided product validation. Data were collected through expert judgment and open interviews, then analyzed using media feasibility percentage techniques and descriptive interpretation. The results show that the thematic comic product, in terms of language and content, is in the “Very Feasible” category with a score of 100% from the language expert. Qualitative input from the expert emphasized the need for a more dialogue-dominant narrative, the addition of a glossary, and complete product information. This comic presents practical scenarios relevant to real-world communication experiences, such as ordering food at a restaurant, ordering items, asking for directions, and shopping, through attractive illustrations and natural dialogue. This research concludes that the creative visual media-based thematic comic is an effective, relevant, interactive, and engaging innovative medium to support A1-level French reading learning.
