Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the Problem-Based Learning model on improving the ability to analyze the intrinsic elements of short stories. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study was conducted in the odd semester of 2025/2026 at SMPN 5 Campaka. The population of this study was ninth-grade students who participated in learning using problem-based learning. The research sample consisted of two classes: the experimental class, which received treatment using the Problem-Based Learning model, and the control class, which received conventional learning. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests on the ability to analyze the intrinsic elements of short stories. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and parametric inferential statistics, namely the t-test. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Problem-Based Learning model has a significant impact on improving students' abilities to analyze the intrinsic elements of short stories. Students who learned using the Problem-Based Learning model showed a higher increase in scores compared to students who learned conventionally. Thus, the Problem-Based Learning model is effectively used in literature learning to develop students' critical and analytical thinking skills.

Abstract

Vocabulary is an important element in language skills that influences students' speaking, reading, and writing abilities. However, many students still experience limited vocabulary, thus hindering fluency in communication and comprehension of written texts. Through written texts of children's songs, students can learn language in a fun, contextual, and memorable way. This study aims to describe the use of children's songs as a learning medium in developing vocabulary in Indonesian language learning. This study used a quasi-experimental method. The study took place in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year in grade III of Sindangraja 1 State Elementary School, Sukaluyu Cianjur. Indonesian vocabulary data were collected using a test instrument that was compiled objectively and systematically. Vocabulary data were analyzed using descriptive statistical procedures. The results showed that children's songs were able to improve students' vocabulary mastery through repetition of lyrics, pronunciation, and understanding of word meanings. Thus, children's songs are effectively used as a medium for Indonesian language learning in grade III of elementary school.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the morphological structure of the Toba Batak language from the perspective of generative transformation studies. The primary issue in this microlinguistic research is the process of word formation through the mechanisms of affixation, reduplication, and composition. Previous research on word forms in the Simalungun Batak language has been based on structural morphological theory, which only examines linguistic phenomena superficially. Therefore, linguistic phenomena that actually occur in the field are often overlooked because the theories used are unable to fully explain them. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. This approach was chosen because it aims to describe in depth and structure phenomena related to word structure in the Simalungun Batak language (BBS) from the perspective of Generative Morphology Theory. The results of this study indicate that the morphological system of the Simalungun Batak language describes in depth and structure phenomena related to word structure in the Simalungun Batak language (BBS) from the perspective of Generative Morphology Theory. The first issue in this research is the process of word formation through the mechanisms of affixation, reduplication, and composition, which only examines linguistic phenomena superficially.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of anger through speech and emotional expression displayed by Nikita Mirzani in the Hotman Paris Show in 2019 with a psycholinguistic review. This phenomenon is interesting to study because it shows how language plays a role not only as a means of communication, but also as a medium of complex psychological expression. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data sources in the form of video recordings of events that show emotional interactions between Nikita Mirzani and Elza Syarief. The data analyzed included verbal speech and nonverbal expressions, such as intonation, gestures, and facial expressions, with the analysis of Miles and Huberman’s interactive models. Jakobson’s theory of language function and Plutchik’s theory of emotion are used as interpretive bases for relating linguistic and psychological dimensions in the expression of anger. The results of the study show that Nikita Mirzani’s form of anger is represented through four types of speech, namely emotive, referential, connotative, and fatis. The four forms of speech are accompanied by emotional expressions in the form of high pitches, physiological changes, and aggressive gestures. Emotive speech marks an outpouring of spontaneous emotions, referential speech shows fact-based self-defense, connotative speech expresses symbolic attacks, and fatis speech serves to maintain the continuity of interaction. The implications of this study show that anger as a psycholinguistic phenomenon is a form of multimodal communication that involves the interaction between cognitive processes, emotions, and language. Practically, the results of this research can be a reference for media practitioners, public communicators, and language educators in understanding and managing emotional expressions so that communication in public spaces remains ethical, effective, and balanced.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of insulting and ridiculing utterances expressed by Indonesian netizens in the comment section of the TikTok account @golkar.indonesia, particularly those directed at public figure Bahlil Lahadalia. This phenomenon reflects a shift in the communication style of the young generation in digital spaces, where slang, sarcasm, and humor are used as means of social expression and political criticism. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a sociopragmatic approach, combining social and pragmatic perspectives in analyzing language use. The data were collected through documentation of user comments on TikTok videos featuring Bahlil Lahadalia and were analyzed based on their forms, functions, and social meanings. The results show that insulting and ridiculing utterances are not merely violations of language etiquette but also serve as symbolic resistance toward power and as a form of non-formal political participation. Netizens use linguistic strategies such as irony, sarcastic humor, and rhetorical questioning to express criticism indirectly yet sharply. The utterances found include basic words, phrases, clauses, and wordplay characterized by informal, youthful slang typical of social media interaction. From a sociopragmatic perspective, this phenomenon indicates a shift in politeness norms, where negative expressions are disguised in humor to remain socially acceptable. Therefore, TikTok has become a new arena of digital political communication, where language functions not only as a tool of interaction but also as a medium of criticism, identity, and social expression among youth.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the narrative structure and values of struggle in the film Ar-Rihlah through A. J Greimas' narrative semiotic approach. The method employed is descriptive, utilizing qualitative data. Data on the narrative structure and values of struggle in the film Ar-Rihlah were collected using observation guidelines based on time triangulation, assisted by a checklist, through the process of observing, marking, and recording sentences or dialogues that contain values of struggle. J Greimas' narrative semiotic analysis. Data on narrative structure and values of struggle in the film Ar-Rihlah through a narrative semiotic approach were analyzed through three stages: a) identification of the role of actants; b) mapping of functional structures; c) interpretation of narrative meaning that forms the values of struggle. The results of the study show that the values of struggle in the film Ar-Rihlah (The Journey) are not only expressed in physical combat, but also encompass values such as willingness to sacrifice, unity, respect, patience, and an unyielding spirit. The values of struggle in the film Ar-Rihlah, examined through a narrative semiotic approach, are constructed narratively through the relationship between the actants and the stages of the storyline.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of 21st-century literacy, which encompasses four main competencies: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication (4Cs) in the folktale "Ular N'Daung" by Dian Kristiani. Folkklores, as a form of cultural literacy, serve not only as entertainment but also as educational media that instill moral values and character in the younger generation. In the context of 21st-century education, literary works should be studied through a literacy perspective to foster the development of critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and effective communication skills. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a content analysis approach. The data source, the text of the Ular N'Daung story, is analyzed through intensive reading and systematic recording of narratives, quotations, and dialogues that represent aspects of 21st-century literacy. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and concludes with theoretical triangulation validation. The results of the study show that critical thinking is reflected in the ability of characters and readers to interpret the theme of struggle and moral messages, creativity is seen through the potential for adapting the story into digital media, collaboration is realized through the actions of the Youngest Princess who are full of empathy and responsibility, and communication is depicted in the dialogue between characters that convey human values. Thus, Ular N'Daung is not only a cultural heritage but also an effective literacy tool to develop character, empathy, and 4C skills in students in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the versification (science of 'arudh) and moral values in Diwan Ibn al-Adim. The focus of this study includes identifying the types of bahar and zihaf used in the composition of the verses of the poem and the disclosure of the moral values ??contained therein. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, combining the arudh science approach to analyze the structure of the poem's meter and the Islamic moral studies approach to interpret the moral messages of literary works. The research data sources are selected verses of poetry from Diwan Ibn al-Adim obtained through the Diwanul al-‘Arabi application. The data were analyzed through the following stages: (1) classification of the verses of the poem, (2) analysis of the wazan, taf'ilah, and bahar patterns according to the theory of science of 'arudh, and (3) interpretation of the content of moral values ??contained in the text. The results of the study show that Diwan Ibn al-'Adim is dominated by the use of bahar Basith, Thawîl, and Kamil with variations of zihaf such as khaban, qabdh, and idhmar. From a moral perspective, various values are found, such as tawadhu, sabar, jujur, iffah, wara, hikmah, zuhud, generosity, responsibility, and piety. In addition, this work contains moral messages on human relations with Allah SWT, fellow humans, and the social environment. This study concludes that Diwan Ibn al-'Adim is a literary work not only aesthetically superior, with a strong poetic structure, but also rich in moral education relevant throughout time. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of Arabic literary studies, especially those that integrate aspects of form and value.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the components of meaning contained in the lyrics of the song “Selalu Ada di Nadimu” (Jumbo Film Soundtrack) through a component analysis approach. The study used a qualitative descriptive method, with data consisting of key words in the lyrics that play a significant role in constructing the song’s emotional and relational messages. Data were collected using reading and note-taking techniques, then analyzed using a combination of direct element analysis and semantic analysis techniques to identify shared, distinctive, and additional components of meaning. The results show that the words “singing,” “prayer,” and “word” share similarities as forms of affective expression, but differ in aesthetic aspects and spiritual purpose. The words “smile,” “happy,” and “love” share the same emotional meaning field, but differ in visibility, depth of affection, and interpersonal relationships. The words “storm” and “wind” depict differences in intensity and threat in metaphors of life’s challenges. Overall, this study confirms that song lyrics utilize metaphorical and emotional diction with a layered structure of meaning components, allowing for a more profound message of affection, steadfastness, and emotional support.
