Abstract

In the competitive business world, employee performance is a key factor determining organizational success, particularly in the manufacturing sector and government agencies in Indonesia. Transformational leadership is recognized as an effective leadership style in enhancing employee performance through improved work motivation. However, the relationship between transformational leadership and employee performance, with work motivation as a mediating variable, requires further investigation within these organizational contexts. This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership on employee performance with work motivation as a mediating variable in large manufacturing companies and government agencies in Indonesia, such as the Ministry of Industry and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). A quantitative approach was used with path analysis techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 250 employees in these sectors. The research instrument was adapted from a scale previously tested for validity and reliability. The analysis results indicate that transformational leadership has a positive and significant influence on employee performance (β = 0.45; p < 0.01). Work motivation significantly mediates this relationship, with a stronger mediation effect observed in the manufacturing sector (β mediation = 0.30; p < 0.05). These findings suggest that effective leadership not only directly impacts employee performance but also indirectly through increased work motivation. The implications of this research highlight the need for leadership development programs focused on enhancing work motivation, such as training in inspirational communication skills and employee empowerment, to boost productivity in both the manufacturing sector and government agencies.

Abstract

This study investigates the determinants of entrepreneurial intentions among vocational high school students, focusing on the roles of entrepreneurial education, family support, and school support, with entrepreneurial self-efficacy as a mediating variable. Employing a quantitative approach with cross-sectional design. Data were collected from 214 students in the Business and Marketing Department of Vocational High School, Indonesia. The instrument that used in this research is entrepreneurial intention. For data analysis, the study utilized Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that school support significantly influences entrepreneurial intentions, with entrepreneurial self-efficacy acting as a key mediator between external support systems and entrepreneurial aspirations. Interestingly, while school support demonstrates the strongest direct impact on entrepreneurial intentions, its mediated effect through self-efficacy is comparatively smaller. The study underscores the importance of robust educational frameworks, family encouragement, and institutional facilitation in nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets. Practical implications include curriculum enhancement, teacher training in entrepreneurship education, and fostering collaborative support systems between families and schools. This research contributes to the literature by offering a comprehensive model of entrepreneurial intention formation in the context of vocational education, particularly in emerging economies

Abstract

This study explores the influence of numerical literacy, verbal ability, learning motivation in science, and self-regulation on academic achievement among high school students. In today's dynamic educational landscape, success requires more than academic knowledge—it also demands motivation and self-directed learning strategies. This research aimed to examine how these four factors interrelate to predict learning outcomes. Employing an ex-post facto quantitative design, data were collected from 119 high school students across four schools using validated questionnaires and learning outcome assessments. The variables included numerical literacy, verbal ability, and science learning motivation as independent variables, self-regulation as a mediating variable, and academic achievement as the dependent variable. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that all three independent variables significantly and positively affected self-regulation: numerical literacy (β = 0.410, p < 0.001), verbal ability (β = 0.291, p < 0.01), and science learning motivation (β = 0.215, p < 0.05). Furthermore, self-regulation positively influenced academic achievement (β = 0.405, p < 0.001). These findings underscore the critical role of self-regulation as a bridge between cognitive skills and academic performance. By strengthening students’ ability to manage their own learning, educators can enhance academic success, especially in numeracy and science-based learning environments.

Abstract

Work motivation drives teachers to perform optimally, while transformational leadership can inspire and empower teachers to achieve shared goals effectively. Therefore, this study aims to analyze how work experience functions as a mediating variable in the relationship between work motivation and transformational leadership on teacher performance. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational type of research. The population was 380 teachers with a sample of 190 kindergarten teachers in Kupang City using a random sampling technique using guidance from the Kerjce table. Data collection used an instrument in the form of a questionnaire with 47 items measuring work motivation, transformational leadership, teacher performance with and the work experience. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression models and path analysis. The results of this study indicate that work motivation and transformational leadership can improve teacher performance directly and indirectly through work experience. This study shows that work motivation and transformational leadership majorly impact school teacher performance. There is a significant effect of work experience in mediating work motivation on teacher performance. In addition, work experience significantly influences and mediates transformational leadership on teacher performance. It is hoped that the results of this study can support the science of human resource management and teacher performance both academic and practical.
