Abstract

A total of 437 bird species out of 1771 bird species found in Indonesia are protected birds. Birds need and choose certain places to eat, nest, lay eggs, grow up and protect itself from predators). Habitat selection by shorebirds both daily and seasonal is closely related to changes in habitat Coastal waters are wetlands as important habitats for shorebirds such as breeding grounds, nesting, raising their offspring, looking for food, drinking water sources, shelter and social interaction. The presence of shorebirds in wetlands is influenced by many factors including availability, height and water quality, food availability, shelter, nesting and predators The human presence becomes a very important factor for shorebirds, such as in the village liang beach. Liang village beach has been used as a tourist area on the island of Ambon. This beach is a habitat for shorebirds. Therefore, the presence of shorebirds is very important because it is associated with the development of a sustainable beach, especially towards ecotourism. This study aims to inventory the types of shorebirds that exist on the coast of Liang Village, Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province. This research was conducted to determine the types of shorebirds on the coast of the village burrow. The results showed that the number of bird species found at the station on the Coastal Coast of Liang Village were species of Pengalahan bird (Numenius phaeopus), Asian plover (Charadrius veredus), Great Kedidi (Calidris tenuirostris), Pantai Trinil (Actitis hypoleucos), Trinil Semak (Tringa glreola) ), Kedidi Putih (Calidris alba), Little Egret (Egretta garzetta). The number of bird species at station II is greater than station I and station III.

Abstract

Heterodoxus spiniger is a chewing lice that have been reported to infest dogs and cats. This ectoparasite is haematophagous and as an intermediate host in transmission of cysticercoids and egg of nematode worms. This study aims to determine the in vitro insecticidal activity of ethanol extract of neem leaf (Azadirachta indica) against H. spiniger. A total of 250 H. spiniger were divided into five groups with five replications, namely: P0 as a negative control group given placebo, P1 as a positive control group given deltamethrin 0.5EC 0.05%, and groups P2, P3 and P4 were given ethanol extract of neem leaves with concentrations of 2.5%, 5% and 10%. In each test, 10 lice samples were put into a petridish with a cotton swab that had been sprayed with the solution of each treatment, then the lice were treated again with fine spray evenly. The results showed that the in vitro ethanol extract of neem leaves had a very significant effect (P0.01) on the mortality of H. spiniger. The best results are shown at 5% concentration which is capable of killing 100% of lice in 30 minutes. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of neem leaf has insecticidal activity against H. spiniger.

Abstract

Insect activity including its life cycle can determine the estimated time of death or Post Mortem Interval (PMI). One type of insect that plays an important role in determining the estimated time of death is flies. This study aims to determine the types of flies that come to the carcass and to determine the types of flies that dominate and less dominate from each treatment onwhite rat (carcassesR. norvegicusmale) outdoors. This study consisted of 3 treatments with 3 repetitions each. The treatments included A (neck bone dislocation), B (burned), and C (poisoned). Carcass observations were carried out for 10 days and larvae collection was carried out every 2 days starting from the third day of observation. The parameters observed included the number and morphological characteristics of instar 3 fly larvae. The types of fly larvae found in all treatments were Lucilia illustris (5.42%), Sarcophaga sp (12.80%), Sarcophaga argyrostoma (30.62%), and Sarcophaga variegata (51.16%). The dominant fly larvae of the three treatments was S. variegata and the less dominant fly larvae was L. illustris.
