Abstract

This article aims to discuss a model for the learning difficulty analysis of senior high school students in the field of chemistry. The study was focus on senior high schools (SMA/MA) located around the campus of Syiah Kuala University. They were SMAN 5 Banda Aceh, SMAN 1 Krueng Barona Jaya, SMAN 1 Baitussalam, MA Rukoh, and MA Darussalam. The Student scores of National Examination (UN) from 2008-2010 were analyzed to find the chemistry topics that most student failed to answer and the frequency failure occurred among the subject schools in three times national examination (2008, 2009 2010). The validated questionnaire was distributed to teachers and students to explore the causes and solutions for low mastery concepts among the students. Using this analysis model,  it is found that the concept of acids and bases, thermochemistry, solubility and the corrosion concepts were the highest frequently and consistently fail to master by students in the sampled schools. Majority responses from students and teachers were consistent with the data finding from UN data analysis. Low student mastery on those chemistry topics becuase students fail to interpretation of pH indicator diagram and corrosion experiment drawing. To overcome the student weakness was suggested to improve the learning process, to discuss the low mastery topic in teacher regular group discussion (MGMP). Majority respondents also suggested to provide training and problem-solving, and enrich the teaching materials containing chemical topics that were difficult to be mastered by students

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol daun jamblang terhadap kadar glukosa darah pada tikus putih diabetes mellitus yang diinduksi Streptozotosin (STZ). Hewan coba yang digunakan adalah 15 ekor tikus putih jantan dengan berat badan 200-250g. Tikus secara acak dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok perlakuan masing-masing terdiri dari 3 ekor. Kelompok control negatif  (KN) tidak diinjeksi STZ dan tidak diberi Ekstrak Etanol Daun Jamblang (EEDJ), kelompok control positif (KP) diinjeksi STZ 40 mg/kg BB dan tidak diberi EEDJ, kelompok P1, P2, dan P3 diinjeksi STZ 40 mg/kg BB dan diberi EEDJ dengan dosis masing-masing 100 mg/kg BB, 150 mg/kg BB dan 200 mg/kg BB. Pemberian EEDJ diberikan secara oral selama 14 hari. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap pola searah. Hasil analisis varian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pemberian EEDJ berpengaruh sangat nyata (P0,01) terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah tikus. Rata-rata kadar glukosa darah tikus kelompok KN (110,33±8,38 mg/dL), KP (448,00±40,33 mg/dL), P1 (100,00±8,34 mg/dL), P2 (103,33±5,68 mg/dL) dan P3 (92,00±6,08 mg/dL). Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian EEDJ dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah tikus putih jantan diabetes mellitus yang diinduksi STZ. Dosis EEDJ yang efektif untuk menurunkan kadar glukosa darah adalah 200 mg/kg BB.

Abstract

Determination of the members of the boarding will done through assessment the criteria for determining the status of the members of the Sorority. This determination is usually consultation between members according to their respective conscience. Therefore, determination of the members of the boarding will done using Iterative Dichomotiser Three by displaying the root criteria so that it becomes a reference node in the assessment of the Member. Determination of the Member of a dormitory with Iterative Dichomotiser Three produce entropy values i.e. (Kitchen 0.121596288; Hall 0.091945213; Bathroom 0.114734253; Living room 0.159141033; Terrace 0.271219296; Manners 0.228396102; Religious 0.217768967; sensitivity 0.339842104; and the money base of 0). The results of calculation of the information gain is generating decision tree with nodes of the criteria each branch. Based on the results that sensitivity of root and the money Base into base of decision tree with reference to the value of the information gain. The result also shows determination of the predictive reports members of the dormitory with Iterative Dichomotiser Three Keywords: Members of the boarding, Iterative Dichomotiser Three, Entropy, lnformation Gain, Decision Tree Penentuan anggota asrama dilakukan melalui penilaian kriteria-kriteria untuk menentukan status anggota asrama. Penentuan ini biasanya melalui musyawarah antar anggota sesuai hati nurani masing-masing. Oleh karena itu, penentuan anggota asrama dilakukan menggunakan Iterative Dichomotiser Three dengan menampilkan root kriteria sehingga menjadi acuan node dalam penilaian anggota asrama. Penentuan anggota asrama dengan Iterative Dichomotiser Three menghasilkan nilai entropy yaitu 0,89357112 dan nilai information gain dari 9 kriteria penilaian anggota asrama yaitu (Dapur 0,121596288; Aula 0,091945213; Kamar Mandi 0,114734253; Ruang Tamu 0,159141033; Teras 0,271219296; Tata Krama 0,228396102; Keagamaan 0,217768967; Kepekaan 0,339842104; dan Uang Pangkal 0). Hasil perhitungan information gain menghasilkan pohon keputusan dengan node-node kriteria tiap cabangnya. Berdasarkan hasil bahwa Kepekaan menjadi root dan Uang Pangkal menjadi pangkal pohon keputusan dengan mengacu pada nilai information gain. Hasilnya juga menampilkan laporan prediksi penentuan anggota asrama dengan Iterative Dichomotiser Three. Abstract

We applied the Stick-Slip model to simulate pouring grains processes via Granular Dynamics Simulation. The dynamics mechanism and the structure formation of the 2D and 3D systems are investigated. The results show that the shape of the generated piles in the 2D and 3D systems are similar when observed superficially, but the detailed structure and the dynamic behaviour leading to that structure are very different.

Abstract

The existence of various industrial centers in Jember Regency has an impact on the high absorption of labor coming from the local community, because most of the production activities are still done by using the power / physical strength of man. Low back pain (LBP) is one of the symptoms of musculoskeletal pain in the lower back, not a disease or diagnosis for a disease. The high risk factor of LBP complaints occurring in industrial workers is the work posture. Patients with chronic LBP complaints may experience affective disorders such as depression and psychosomatic disorders that will lead to a poorer prognosis, while also often experiencing disabilities that implicate the quality of life of patients. This study aims to determine the risk of work posture on worker’s disability index with low back pain complaints in PT Muroco Jember. The type of this research is observational analytic with cross sectional research design which conducted on 31 workers of PT Muroco which fulfill the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. The risk of work posture was obtained by employee observation and completion of the modified quick exposure check questionnaire while the disability index was obtained by filling the modified oswestry low back pain disability questionnaire. The result of the Gamma correlation between the two variables is p = 0,135. It shows that there is no correlation between risk of work posture and worker’s disability index with low back pain complaint in PT Muroco Jember.

Abstract

Bone fracture is a musculoskeletal injury with a high incidence rate. The healing process of the fracture can be inhibited by oxidative stress, which occurs due to Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) that exceeds the antioxidant capacity in the body that neutralizes it. Antioxidants that have red spinach have the potential to suppress the level of oxidative stress. This study aims to determine the effect of red spinach ethanol extract on the healing process of fracture in male Wistar rats through osteoblast cell count. A sample of 30 male Wistar rats was divided into five groups; negative control group, positive control group, and three groups of red spinach ethanol treatment with doses of 35.4 mg / 150 g body weight (BW), 70.8 mg / 150 gBW, and 141.6 mg / 150gBW induced fracture, splinted, then treated for one week. One Way Anova test results showed a significance of 0.000 (p <0.05) in which there was a significant difference in the osteoblast level between the treatment group and the control group. The result of LSD test between P1 group and P3 group showed significantly different result where the increase of osteoblast cell number was in line with the increase of the dose of red spinach ethanol extract. The conclusion is that red spinach ethanol extract has a positive impact during the fracture healing process with osteoblast cell number parameters. Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the occupational diseases caused by non-ergonomic conditions. The global point prevalence of LBP which limits activity in 2015 was 7.3%. This figure shows that in one time there were 540 million people who experienced LBP. As many as 90% of cases of low back pain are not caused by organic abnormalities but by errors in body position at work. Risk factors that have the potential to cause complaints include age, gender, Body Mass Index (BMI), smoking habits, work period, poor work posture, and standing or sitting too long. This study aims to determine the relationship between duration of sitting and risk of work posture with the level of LBP complaints in Jember University library employees. The type of research used was analytic observational with cross sectional study design. The sampling technique is done by total sampling. The research samples were University Library staff in Jember who experienced LBP complaints and in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria of this study. The sample size was 22 respondents. The instruments of this study were respondent characteristics questionnaire sheets, LBP screening sheets, and Modified Quick Exposure Check (QEC) assessment sheets. Bivariate analysis using the gamma correlation test. The results of the bivariate analysis between duration of sitting and LBP complaint rates obtained p = 0.827. The results of the bivariate analysis between the risk of work posture and LBP complaints were obtained p = 0.916. The two results of the analysis indicate that there is no significant relationship between the duration of sitting and the risk of work posture with the level of LBP complaints in Jember University library employees. Abstract

Hip fractures in elderly patient are often treated with hemiarthroplasty. Hemiarthroplasty can cause various complications, one of which is leg legth descrepancy (LLD). The function of the hip joint is reduced due to these complications. Previous studies have shown contradictive results regarding the relationship of LLD to the function of the hip joint in post-arthroplasty patient's. This type of research is observational with retrospective study. The population in this study came from 2 hospitals in Jember was 53 patients and the sample was 30 people. LLD is measured by true leg length and apparent leg length, whereas hip joint function is measured by Oxford Hip Score (OHS). The data were tested by using Spearman correlation test. In conclusion, there was a moderate relationship between LLD true leg length to the function of the hip joint. This study does not support the implications of the LLD to the hip function because of weak relationship between LLD true leg to the hip function and moderate relasionship between LLD apparent leg length to the hip function.

Abstract

Telah disintesis plastik ramah lingkungan antara polikaprolakton (PCL) dan pati tapioka dengan menggunakan pemlastis alami dari minyak kelapa sawit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan minyak kelapa sawit, komposisi PCL dan pati tapioka terhadap karakteristik poliblend yang dihasilkan. Untuk mencapai sasaran tersebut, PCL disintesis dari -kaprolakton dan 2,2-dimetil-1,3-propanadiol dengan perbandingan mol 30/1. PCL hasil sintesis dan pati tapioka pada berbagai komposisi diblending secara fisik dan ditambahkan minyak kelapa sawit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa PCL dapat disintesis dan struktur molekulnya ditentukan dengan NMR-1H, NMR-13C, dan FTIR. Berdasarkan ilustrasi difraktogram XRD, minyak kelapa sawit dapat menurunkan kristalinitas poliblend pada komposisi tertentu. Viskositas poliblend yang dihasilkan semakin menurun seiring dengan meningkatnya kandungan pati dalam campuran tersebut.

Abstract

Synthesis of biodegradable polymers is an alternative technology, which can be applied to cope with the problem of petrochemical raw materials packaging waste buildup. The purpose of this study was to obtain information on the effect of chitosan composition, tapioca starch and palm oil as plasticizer on mechanical and thermal properties, crystallinity, and oxygen permeability. Bioplastics was synthesis by blending tapioca starch, chitosan, and palm oil at various compositions. The results showed that bioplastic could be synthesized and printed in the form of film. Bioplastic films showed a low permeability, where the more content of chitosan in a mixture of bioplastics caused the lower permeability to oxygen. Tensile strength of the resulting film was low and the optimum value was achieved on chitosan/starch compoxition of 60/40. Elongation at the film break was strongly influenced by starch composition. High starch composition produced bioplastics with high elasticity. The melting point range was 133-150 °C. Films with the highest value of this parameter were produced from samples with tapioca starch/chitosan ratio of 60/40. Thermal resistance of the sample was determined by tapioca starch/chitosan ratio of 50/50, with weight loss of 41.395% at 475 oC. Almost all films produced in various compositions of chitosan/tapioca starch showed amorphous structure, except sample with tapioca starch/chitosan ratio of 10/90, which was semicrystalline.
