Abstract

Socialism is an understanding of individual ownership that is regulated and controlled collectively, not limited to individuals or just a handful of groups. The trigger for the birth of socialism is the process of the capitalist system which indirectly creates class levels in society. Socialism first emerged during the industrial revolution of the 18th century in England as a reaction to the injustices that occurred and the exploitation of workers and factory workers. Dissatisfaction and social upheaval also emerged from the socialist group which aimed to fight for the rights of oppressed factory workers. The industrial revolution made the process of producing goods easier and cheaper, thus creating the concept of capital accumulation for certain groups. This ultimately creates polarization in society, namely the employer and worker groups or the bourgeoisie or proletariat. The condition of society when capitalism developed after the industrial revolution attracted the attention of socialist thinkers such as Robert Owen in England and Saint Simon and Fourier in France. They were encouraged to improve Improving the conditions of society at that time was based on a sense of humanity without being accompanied by real actions or conceptions regarding goals and strategies in improving these conditions.

In economics, this is indicated by the rising unemployment rates, poverty, and social injustice, which can lead to economic disparities. In politics, it is demonstrated by the existence of several groups hoping to change the stable political system and social structure with new ideas they believe to be the most correct and suitable. In education, the problem can arise through interactions between teachers and students, students and teachers, as well as through the influence of parents and even society on components within the education system. Understanding radicalism in philosophical studies plays a crucial role in providing knowledge and becoming a solution to prevent and address radicalism, especially in Indonesia.

Abstract

Positivism is a scientific paradigm rooted in empirical philosophy. As a scientific paradigm, positivism has a very broad influence in various fields of science. August Comte was an 18th century French philosopher known as the founder of positivism. In positivism, everything or phenomenon must be able to be measured positively or definitively in order to be measurable. This applies not only to the natural sciences but also to the social sciences. The role of positivist philosophy in the aspect of learning methods can be seen from two things, namely positivist philosophy plays a role in developing learning methods and positivist philosophical thinking plays a role as a learning method. Of course, various learning development activities are based on data and something empirical in nature. About the role of positivist philosophy in relation to learning strategies, which are expressed through the learning method itself. There are several learning methods used today that follow the scientific method, such as discovery learning, project-based learning, and problem-based learning.
