Abstract

Digital transformation in the healthcare sector encourages health service facilities to improve administrative efficiency through the use of technology, including online registration systems. Dr. Bratanata Hospital Jambi has provided an online registration service; however, initial survey results indicate that its utilization rate remains low due to limited patient understanding and insufficient socialization. This community service program aims to improve the digital literacy of patients and their families through education, training, and assistance in using the online registration system as an effort to support administrative efficiency in the hospital. The methods implemented include direct socialization in the outpatient area, demonstrations of the application/website registration process, distribution of digital educational materials, and one-on-one assistance for patients using the online registration system for the first time. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure knowledge improvement, as well as observation of the number of patients using the online registration system after the activity. The results show a significant increase in patients' understanding of the online registration steps, a rise in the proportion of online registration users, and a reduction in queue length at the administrative counters during peak hours. This program demonstrates that digital education can enhance the utilization of health service technologies and support administrative efficiency in hospitals. It is recommended that this activity be continued regularly to ensure sustainability and equitable digital literacy among patients.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder that triggers various serious complications, including peripheral neuropathy and diabetic foot ulcers. Prevention of these complications is a priority in DM management, one of which is through non-pharmacological interventions such as diabetic foot exercises. This educational activity on diabetic foot exercises at Raden Mattaher Regional General Hospital in Jambi aims to improve the understanding and skills of patients' families in caring for the feet of DM sufferers. Through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations, participants are expected to recognize the benefits of foot exercises, such as improved blood circulation, foot sensitivity, reduced blood glucose levels, and wound prevention. Evaluation of the activity showed that diabetic foot exercises are effective in reducing the risk of foot complications and improving the quality of life of sufferers. This education also emphasized the innovative use of simple tools such as newspaper and the empowerment of health cadres as part of the program's sustainability strategy. Thus, this outreach is a strategic step in strengthening the educational role of health services for families of diabetes patients in hospitals.

Abstract

The phenomenon of doomscrolling, which is increasingly prevalent among adolescents, has become a new challenge in the digital era. The habit of constantly scrolling and consuming negative information excessively without considering time can seriously impact mental health, reduce concentration ability, and affect academic performance. This condition requires effective and sustainable educational interventions. This community service program aims to reduce doomscrolling behavior among adolescents. The program partners are students aged 12–15 years at SMP Negeri 7 Jambi City. This program employed a Quasi-Experimental method (One Group Pre-test Post-test Design) to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. The intervention was carried out through counseling and socialization, along with the implementation of the X-Lab Book based on STEM Builders and Gamification Therapy, supported by group-based science experiment demonstrations as a positive alternative to excessive gadget use. Evaluation was conducted by comparing pre-test and post-test results. The findings demonstrated a decrease in doomscrolling behavior, shown by a reduction in cumulative scores from 935 to 812 after the intervention, indicating improved self-control and healthier digital behavior among participants.

Abstract

Quality nursing care requires effective communication between healthcare workers, particularly during handovers, pre-conferences, and post-conferences. These three components are essential for nursing management to ensure continuity of care and patient safety. However, observations in the Bulian inpatient ward at Bhayangkara Jambi Hospital indicate that handovers and conferences have not been fully implemented, particularly in the application of effective communication techniques such as SBAR and consistent implementation according to standards. Therefore, a dissemination program was conducted to improve nurses' knowledge and skills in optimally implementing handovers, pre-conferences, and post-conferences.

Abstract

Adolescents frequently encounter complex emotional pressures that can lead to a profound sense of hopelessness, which is a primary precursor to non-suicidal self-injury behaviors. This community service initiative aimed to mitigate despair and enhance psychological literacy among eleventh-grade students at SMAN 2 Jombang through a systematic screening and educational intervention. The program involved 40 participants selected via purposive sampling who demonstrated moderate baseline hopelessness. The one-day intensive session incorporated multimedia tools, including structured presentation slides, an educational video, and a printing pocket module focusing on hope-building strategies and adaptive coping mechanism simulations. Evaluation was conducted using pre-intervention and post-intervention assessments through the standard Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS; 20 items, scored 0–20) and a specialized self-harm risk awareness questionnaire. The latter was a pre-tested 15-item instrument utilizing a 4-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 4 = Strongly Agree) to measure students' understanding of maladaptive behaviors. Baseline results indicated that 17.5% of students exhibited severe hopelessness, while 72.5% were in the moderate category. Following the intervention, a substantial shift occurred where 70% of participants reached the minimal-to-mild hopelessness level, and only 5% remained in the severe category. Furthermore, students' understanding of self-harm risks improved significantly, with the very high awareness group increasing from 5% to 30%. This educational initiative proved effective in strengthening adolescent psychological resilience, establishing empirical baseline data for the institution. It is recommended as a sustainable, school-based strategy by integrating screening tools into the annual guidance curriculum for early crisis detection.

Abstract

The risk of stunting and the low level of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (CHLB). The adoption of clean and healthy living behaviors (CHLB) remains a major public health challenge.  This program, which is based in the mosque, was designed to strengthen community awareness and encourage active participation in CHLB practices. The main partners involved include the local community, DKM (Dewan Kemakmuran Masjid), mosque youth groups, and health cadres in Kelurahan Tahtul Yaman. The program was carried out through several approaches, including education sessions, hands-on training, cadre development, and environmental actions through an integrated cleanliness movement. Overall, the program achieved its intended targets and led to a noticeable increase in community participation. One of the key outcomes was the formation of twelve youth health cadres who are now able to carry out various health-related activities, such as creating 30 biopori holes, producing natural soap, and providing cleanliness boxes in the mosque. In addition, community understanding of CHLB (Clean and Healthy Living Behavior) and stunting prevention has improved. More importantly, the program helped build greater awareness about health issues and contributed to a cleaner and healthier environment, supported by active involvement from the community.

Abstract

The elderly population in Indonesia has a high prevalence of hypertension reaching 63.2%. This physical condition is exacerbated by anxiety reaching 45-60% in hypertensive elderly people in nursing homes who have not received comprehensive non-pharmacological interventions. This activity aims to empower the elderly in managing anxiety through the application of a combination of Mindfulness therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). The program involves hypertensive elderly. The implementation method is carried out through the preparation stage, implementation; health education, demonstrations, hands-on practice of mindfulness and EFT therapy, mentoring, and evaluation of ability to practice therapy, and anxiety levels before and after the intervention using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and structured questionnaires. This activity is supported by educational media in the form of pocket books and therapy guide videos. The results of the activity showed an increase in the knowledge and skills of the elderly in conducting therapy independently, a decrease in anxiety levels. The combination of mindfulness therapy and EFT has been shown to be effective in improving the ability of the elderly to manage anxiety and can be applied sustainably as a non-pharmacological approach to improve the quality of life of the elderly with hypertension.
