Abstract

This study analyzes the role of SWOT analysis in improving the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Bitung City, conducted at the SEZ Administrator Office over three months. Primary data was collected through surveys, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. In contrast, secondary data was obtained from relevant agencies such as the One-Stop Investment and Integrated Services Office (Dinas Penanaman Modal dan Pelayanan Terpadu Satu Pintu or DPMPTSP). The respondents consisted of 42 individuals. SWOT analysis revealed that the SEZ’s development strategy falls within the first quadrant, indicating a favorable alignment of external opportunities and internal strengths, with an Internal Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS) score of 3.48 and an External Factor Analysis Summary (EFAS) score of 3.72. Key strategies for SEZ development include utilizing fisheries and coconut resources to improve production and quality; enhancing infrastructure, including transportation and fishing ports, to support efficient distribution; improving human resource skills; fostering collective commitment among stakeholders, including the government, business actors, and the community; and building partnerships between local businesses and foreign investors to facilitate technology and capital transfer.

Abstract

Organizations must adopt sustainable human resource practices (SHRP) to meet the difficulties of global sustainability. According to data published by the Official Statistics News, the number of foreign visitors to the province of Bali fluctuated. From July 2023 to November 2023, it dropped from 545,272 to 397,552, then increased to 502,830 until April 2024. All stakeholders in Bali Province, especially the hotel industry, must be able to pay attention to changes in the quantity of tourists visiting. This study investigates the effects of organizational resilience and Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) on SHRP in the hotel sector. 120 personnel from five-star hotels participated in the survey, which was carried out in Bali. The research problem was addressed with the aid of SEM PLS. The findings demonstrated that organizational resilience and GHRM significantly and favorably affect SHRP. According to the findings, the association is somewhat mediated by organizational resilience. This implies that the implementation of sustainable HR policies will be improved with the help of a strong GHRM policy and increased organizational resilience. The study’s practical implications include the need for hotels and other hospitality-related enterprises in Bali to implement more extensive GHRM policies, including environmentally-based performance evaluation, sustainability-focused training, and green hiring.

Abstract

The emergence of Industry 5.0, which integrates advanced technology with a human-centered approach, has significantly reshaped organizational dynamics. This transformation underscores the critical role of human resources in sustaining organizational competitiveness. Employee performance is not solely determined by output quantity but also by output quality. Employees must operate effectively and efficiently to optimize organizational performance. This study examines the impact of work ethic, motivation, and job satisfaction on employee performance. The research population comprises all employees at Indonesia Open University (IOU), with the sample drawn from IOU’s central office and the Bandung and Yogyakarta regional offices, yielding 179 valid responses. A quantitative approach utilizing Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was employed for data analysis. The findings indicate that work ethic has a significant positive effect on employee performance—employees with a stronger work ethic exhibit higher performance levels. Conversely, motivation and job satisfaction do not exhibit a statistically significant effect on employee performance. Collectively, work ethic, motivation, and job satisfaction explain 56.4% of employee performance variance, while the remaining 43.6% is influenced by other external factors beyond the study’s scope.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of organizational trust and readiness for change on employee performance directly and through job crafting mediation. This study was conducted at PT Saudara Buana Samudera Medan using a quantitative survey-based approach. The data were collected through questionnaires filled out by 78 permanent employees using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Path analysis was conducted using the SEM-PLS method. The results showed that organizational trust and readiness for change significantly affected employee performance. In addition, job crafting was a mediator that strengthened the relationship between these variables. This study provides theoretical contributions by integrating organizational trust, readiness for change, and job crafting to explain the mechanism of improving employee performance. Practically, these findings provide recommendations to the management of PT Saudara Buana Samudera Medan to build organizational trust and support job crafting to improve employee performance amidst organizational change. The study’s focus on a single organization necessitates caution when generalizing the results. Future studies can expand the sector’s scope or add moderating variables to enrich the findings. This study fills the literature gap regarding the role of job crafting in the relationship between organizational trust, readiness to change, and employee performance in the context of Indonesian companies.

Abstract

This study examines how local cultural values are integrated into the hidden curriculum to promote tolerance and peace in secondary schools in Maluku. It investigates the influence of traditions such as Pela, Gandong, Famili, Badati, Masohi, and Ma’anu, which are not formally included in the curriculum but play a crucial role in shaping students’ social behavior and fostering inclusive learning environments. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research provides a contextualized analysis of how these cultural values function within school settings. Data were gathered through observations and in-depth interviews with teachers and students. The findings highlight the significant role of local cultural values in fostering tolerance and peace. Pela and Gandong reinforce interfaith solidarity through collaborative student activities, while the concept of Famili cultivates a sense of belonging and mutual respect. Badati and Masohi promote cooperation through project-based learning, and Ma’anu encourages an appreciation for diversity. These findings suggest that a hidden curriculum rooted in local culture can strengthen social harmony in pluralistic school environments. Beyond Maluku, this study offers insights into how culturally embedded hidden curricula can inform inclusive educational policies and curriculum design, providing a framework for other diverse and conflict-prone regions. The research underscores the importance of integrating local cultural wisdom into education as a pathway to sustainable peacebuilding.

Abstract

Environmental protection requires robust legal instruments grounded in sound philosophical principles. While environmental laws must be carefully formulated and enforced, their implementation often overlooks the significance of customary law and local knowledge. Existing studies have primarily focused on statutory environmental regulations but have not sufficiently examined the role of customary legal frameworks, such as Kemalik in the Sade Indigenous Community, in environmental conservation. This study investigates how the Sade people in Rambitan Village, Pujut Subdistrict, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province, utilize Kemalik as a customary legal system for environmental protection. A normative-empirical legal analysis was employed, combining a review of environmental laws with an empirical field investigation. The normative approach examines existing environmental regulations, while the empirical method involves in-depth interviews with indigenous leaders to assess the practical implementation and effectiveness of Kemalik in environmental stewardship. The findings indicate that Kemalik is not formally integrated into official environmental legislation despite its cultural and ecological significance. This legal disconnect reduces its effectiveness in preventing and mitigating environmental degradation, particularly in the Kiyangan customary forest. Moreover, most local government programs fail to incorporate indigenous environmental values, resulting in ineffective conservation outcomes. This study highlights the need to integrate customary and statutory legal frameworks to enhance environmental governance. It advocates for formally recognizing and incorporating indigenous knowledge into national environmental policies, fostering a more inclusive and comprehensive legal framework for sustainable environmental management.

Abstract

This study explores the role of burnout as a mediating variable in the relationship between cultural openness, servant leadership, and lecturers’ job satisfaction at Institut Bisnis Informasi Teknologi dan Bisnis, Medan City. In higher education, cultural openness and servant leadership are essential factors contributing to job satisfaction. However, high workloads can lead to burnout, potentially diminishing the positive effects of both factors. This study employs a quantitative approach, using a survey conducted with 51 lecturers as respondents. The results indicate that cultural openness significantly affects job satisfaction, reinforcing the importance of transparent communication and respect for diversity in fostering a supportive work environment. Conversely, servant leadership does not significantly affect job satisfaction or burnout, suggesting that this leadership style is less effective in the context of this study. Additionally, burnout does not significantly influence job satisfaction directly or as a mediating variable. These findings underscore the need to strengthen cultural openness as a key factor in enhancing lecturer job satisfaction. Furthermore, this study offers theoretical contributions to understanding the relationship between organizational culture, leadership, burnout, and job satisfaction while providing practical insights for policy development in higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study uses a scientometric approach to analyze the evolution and maturity of digital transformation in research and development (R&D) over the past decade. For this purpose, bibliometric data from the Scopus database was searched from 2015 to 2024. The resulting dataset of 495 articles was then exported in CSV format. The results showed that the evolution of digital transformation has had a major impact on research progress over the previous decade, with digital transformation maturity (DTM) emerging as an important concept in understanding how organizations and sectors adapt to technological advances. This study used scientometric analysis to explore the development and trends of DTM research over the past decade. The study then focuses more deeply on evaluating digital maturity, integrating technology in decision-making processes, and exploring specific sectors that have received relatively less attention in the existing literature from an industry perspective. The findings suggest that companies need to adopt a more systematic digital transformation strategy, optimize the use of data in management, and apply innovative technologies to improve efficiency and competitiveness.

Abstract

Building and maintaining effective relationships is crucial for business success. Therefore, this study reviews existing research and provides a comprehensive overview of relational capability (RC). Recognizing the importance of RC, this study conducts a systematic literature review (SLR) by analyzing 221 articles from the Scopus database (2013–2023) using the Publish or Perish software. After applying specific selection criteria, 83 articles focusing on RC were chosen for in-depth analysis. The findings reveal significant gaps in RC research, particularly in terms of theoretical approaches, methodologies, and contextual applications, which offer opportunities to enrich the existing body of knowledge. The study emphasizes that RC skills—such as communication, empathy, trust-building, conflict resolution, and collaboration—are essential for sales professionals to understand customer needs, build strong relationships, and achieve sales targets. This study contributes to the understanding of relational capability by integrating various theoretical frameworks and employing quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods. It offers a comprehensive overview of organizational interactions and their implications for sustainable growth and competitive advantage.
