Abstract

Avocado seed waste in Bebidas Village remains suboptimally utilized despite its health benefits. This community service by the 2025 Bebidas 2 KKN Team is a continuation of herbal tea processing training, aiming to improve packaging and marketing skills. The applied method was Participatory Rural Appraisal in January 2026, involving 30 participants from the Youth Organization and Family Welfare Movement of Jurang Koak Hamlet. Results showed an increase in participants' understanding and practical skills from 20% to 85% regarding food-grade packaging, aesthetic labeling, and digital marketing adoption. This program successfully established a highly competitive village product while supporting zero-waste economic empowerment.

Abstract

The use of mathematics learning media kits is still rarely used in learning activities. The lack of training experienced by teachers on how to use them prevents them from utilizing the available facilities. This lack of use of mathematics learning media kits also results in less enjoyable mathematics learning in the classroom and less than satisfactory results. The purpose of this community service activity was to conduct training on the use of mathematics learning media kits at SDN 4 Bebidas. The methods used in this community service activity included material delivery, question and answer sessions, training, and hands-on practice using the mathematics learning media kits. This community service activity consisted of several stages: socialization, preparation, implementation, and reflection. Based on the community service activities, teachers at partner schools observed that the use of media made students more active and communicative, resulting in better results. Teachers at partner schools also felt that this Community Service Program (PKM) indirectly strengthened collaboration and communication among teachers to improve the quality of mathematics learning.

Abstract

This community service activity trained elementary school teachers at SDN 8 Cakranegara in building digital portfolios using Google Sites. Despite Google Sites being a free, cloud-based platform accessible through standard Google accounts, its adoption as a professional portfolio medium among elementary school educators remains limited. The training was conducted in 2024, involving the school principal, classroom teachers, and administrative staff, and was structured across eight sequential stages: preparation, introduction to digital portfolio concepts, introduction to Google Sites, portfolio creation practice, mentoring and revision, result presentation, training evaluation, and follow-up. Evaluation results indicated that all implementation indicators were rated within the good category. All participants successfully produced Google Sites-based digital portfolios comprising professional profiles, teaching documents, works and achievements, and teaching reflections. The activity was deemed successful, as participants not only gained conceptual understanding of digital portfolios but also produced active, functional portfolios ready to support career development and professional performance assessment.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve teachers' pedagogical competence through a workshop on deep learning and classroom management at Ali Bin Abi Thalib Islamic Elementary School. The background to this activity is based on teachers' limited understanding of the implementation of deep learning and the suboptimal application of classroom management strategies in the learning process. This condition results in learning still tending to be teacher-centered and not fully encouraging active student engagement and critical thinking skills. The implementation method consisted of preparation, workshop implementation, learning simulations, practical development of learning materials, and activity evaluation. The workshop was conducted using lectures, discussions, simulations, and mentoring methods. The results showed an increase in teachers' understanding and skills in implementing deep learning and effective classroom management strategies. Teachers were able to design more active, reflective, and student-centered lessons. Furthermore, participants responded positively to the workshop because the material provided was relevant to the learning needs of elementary schools. Therefore, the workshop on deep learning and classroom management can be one way to improve teachers' pedagogical competence and the quality of learning in elementary schools

Abstract

Waste management issues in Mataram City have become increasingly urgent due to rising plastic waste volumes unmatched by public awareness, straining the environment and landfill capacity. Initial observations at SDN 18 Ampenan revealed categorized trash bins but improper sorting and minimal recycling activities, necessitating early educational interventions to foster environmental stewardship. This community service program implemented two main activities: waste sorting socialization and plastic bottle recycling practices. The socialization covered waste definitions, types, sorting methods, and benefits of recycling inorganic waste. Hands-on practices targeted Class II A and III (keychains from melted and molded bottle caps) and Class IV (flower pots from cut, decorated, and planted plastic bottles with vinca flowers), under strict supervision for safety.  Results showed high student enthusiasm, attitude shifts viewing plastic waste as valuable material, improved sorting skills, creativity, and active participation in school cleanliness. The flower pots enhanced the school garden's beauty. This program demonstrates the effectiveness of experiential learning in cultivating sustainable environmental awareness.

Abstract

Integer operations constitute a fundamental topic in mathematics that students must master, as they serve as the basis for understanding more advanced mathematical concepts. However, preliminary observations and interviews with mathematics teachers of Grade VII students at SMP Negeri 9 Majene revealed that many students still experience difficulties in understanding integer operations, particularly those involving positive and negative signs in multi-step calculations. This community engagement program was designed to enhance students’ conceptual understanding of integer operations through the use of the Integer Operation Board (OBIBUL) as an instructional medium. The program was implemented in a Grade VII classroom at SMP Negeri 9 Majene and consisted of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation phase included material demonstrations, guided practice using the OBIBUL media, group quizzes, and evaluation through questionnaires. The findings indicate that the OBIBUL board effectively facilitated students’ understanding of integer operations by providing concrete visual representations through number lines and directional operation arrows, enabling abstract concepts to become more accessible and meaningful. Furthermore, the use of the media encouraged greater student participation and engagement during the learning process. Both students and teachers also expressed positive responses toward the implementation of the OBIBUL board, describing it as interactive, engaging, and supportive of conceptual learning. Therefore, the OBIBUL board may serve as an effective alternative instructional medium for improving junior high school students’ understanding of integer operations in mathematics learning.

Abstract

The low level of literacy and numeracy skills among elementary school students requires innovative, interactive, and integrative learning media. This community service aims to describe the implementation of LINTANG (Literasi Numerasi Tangga Pintar) as a game-based educational medium for upper-grade students at SDN 36 Cakranegara, Mataram. The implementation method involved three main stages: preparation and situation analysis, media implementation using a collaborative Game-Based Learning approach, and an evaluation and reflection stage via direct observation and discussions with teachers. LINTANG adapts the snakes and ladders concept by combining reading comprehension challenges and numerical reasoning into a single game activity. The results indicated that utilizing this media successfully created an active, fun, and meaningful learning atmosphere. Students became more motivated and directly engaged in solving contextual problems. Thus, the LINTANG media serves as an effective alternative solution to strengthen the foundational literacy and numeracy competencies of elementary school students.

Abstract

Inclusive education requires classroom teachers to accommodate children with mental retardation. However, prospective teachers' lack of competence often causes delayed interventions. This community service aimed to improve students' early identification knowledge and practical skills. Conducted in October 2014 at Universitas Negeri Malang, the program involved 120 participants. The methods included theoretical presentations, case studies, and early screening instrument simulations. The results showed a significant increase in understanding, indicated by the average pre-test score rising from 48.5 to 84.2 in the post-test. Students now possess comprehensive clinical-pedagogical skills to foster better inclusive education ecosystems in Malang City.
