Abstract

Relevance of Digital Media in Learning: Today’s young generation is familiar with online platforms like YouTube. This study can show how digital media can be used effectively to help students learn a foreign language, especially English. This study aimed to determine students' perceptions of the use of YouTube in improving students' vocabulary mastery. The research gap in the problem is the still low mastery of English vocabulary of High School Class XI IPS 2 students so they lack understanding and are less active in learning. Using convenient sampling, the respondents are 10 students of class XI IPS 2 High School Babelan. The method used is the descriptive qualitative method. The instrument used is an interview. The research was conducted for 6 months. The results concluded that the use of the YouTube channel Learn English With TV Series for English learning received positive perceptions from students. It was found to be particularly effective in helping students improve their English vocabulary. These findings suggest several practical implications. For teachers, integrating YouTube videos like this into their lessons can provide engaging and authentic materials that expose students to real-world English usage. Teachers can design activities around these videos, such as vocabulary-building exercises, comprehension tasks, or discussion prompts, to enhance learning outcomes. For students, watching these videos independently can serve as a supplementary resource for practicing listening skills, expanding vocabulary, and understanding cultural references in English. Encouraging students to interact with the content, such as by noting new words or mimicking phrases, can further solidify their learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the understanding of vocational high school teachers regarding the implementation of project-based learning models or known as project based learning (PjBL). The PjBL model has become an important part of the independent curriculum because this learning model is closely related to the concept of independent learning to provide flexibility to students. This learning model is also one of the learning models recommended for use in the independent curriculum. This research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to collect information about teachers' understanding of the PjBL model. The respondents of this study were 64 vocational high school teachers. The data was analyzed quantitatively using percentages. Researchers collected information using indicators from front-end analysis introduced by Lee Owen. These indicators are audience analysis, technology analysis, critical-incident analysis and media analysis. The highest score with a percentage of 87% stated that teachers wanted to develop a video-based media that simulated the implementation of the project based learning (PjBL) learning model.

Abstract

The growing complexity of real-world problems has heightened the need for critical thinking skills in education, particularly in fields like statistical education. This study examines the integration of the Flipped Classroom (FC) model with Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to foster critical thinking among university students. Conducted at Bhineka University, the research involved 60 students divided into experimental (FC+PBL) and control (PBL-only) groups. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining pre-tests, post-tests, classroom observations, and reflective journals to collect quantitative and qualitative data. The experimental group participated in pre-class activities such as video lectures and quizzes, with in-class sessions focusing on collaborative problem-solving guided by PBL principles. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) revealed a significant improvement in critical thinking skills in the FC+PBL group compared to the PBL-only group (p < 0.001). Qualitative findings highlighted increased engagement, collaboration, and deeper inquiry among the experimental group. These results underscore the potential of integrating FC and PBL to create dynamic, student-centered learning environments that enhance critical thinking and prepare students to tackle complex challenges effectively
